I was reading up on the CX-7 motor and found this to be interesting...
How does Mazda wring 106 horsepower per liter from the CX-7's motor? The oil- and water-cooled turbo blows 15.6 psi through an air-to-air intercooler mounted on top of the engine, and then after it enters the cylinders it's cooled again when fuel is injected at between 430 and 1600 psi. At these pressures, the liquid evaporates immediately, and this phase change absorbs enough heat to permit a compression ratio of 9.5:1--quite high for a turbo. Raising the compression ratio boosts low- and midrange torque by 10 percent. The fuel is pressurized by a mechanical pump driven off the exhaust cam. Other high-performance features include forged crank and connecting rods and a baffled oil sump to prevent oil starvation while cornering at max-lat in the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca.

We dont want any of your Mazda bull shit contaminating our pure forum. That's a lot of hp per liter. Thats closing in on S2000 territory, isnt it 120 per liter?

Maybe if you're talking about the F20C Bill. The last S2K was an F22 with the same HP output. Besides, his precious Mazda can only achieve those numbers with a snail hanging off the block. Without that, it'd be gutless.

The man loves some leather and it doesnt make it go fast or alter the original mechanics of the car. He wanted me to have it done professionally but that was 1250. He owned a furniture manufacturing company for 20 years, so I am hoping he can help. I am kind of concerned because they are for the side airbag model, which I dont have, but I am thinking the only difference is that one has a breakaway. Which in my opinion should be backwards compatible.

I haven't even hit obsession, yet.....
I just thought it was neat info. Hell man, there's a turbo in the family now. Much better than the snail in the driveway. It's actually weird having something other than two Honda's.

Been there a couple times with something other than two Hondas. The first combo was two DA Integras. After that we had the two DA's and a Jeep Grand Cherokee (worst fucking vehicle I've ever owned). Next combo was the wife's current TL and my DA. After, was her TL and my old Expedition. Now is the current combo. I like having two Honda's in the driveway. Her next car is going to be an MDX because she likes them. I'm brand loyal.

It's easy being brand loyal to anything Honda just because of the reliability. It was sort of an easy choice to go with the Mazda. Everything Honda was so expensive, especially in the SUV category. I purchased the CX-7 for trade in value. I got a helluva deal. Hopefully it'll last her. She's getting better mileage than me, which is insane, of course my car has 115k more miles lol.

Its also easy to be brand loyal to Honda because of every single milestone they've broken and being the leader in the tuning movement. Plus the fact that they respond so well to mods compared to other brands.

I agree with you there, but when we have 140 (?) hp to the wheels. There's only so many mods you can bolt on before you have to go forced induction. The Mazda is already there lol. Flash the ECU, throw a few bolt ons at it and call it a day.
Or just leave it stock and smoke the modded I4
I'm going to get flammed for this but I don't care.
