Oh and you would know all about me busting eh Z? You seemed to like it on the face last night.
Z seems pretty impatient, I guess it would make sense.
I've heard that since it is more memory efficient my computer will go faster after the upgrade. Currently I have four gigs and have considered upping it to 8. I have 64 bit vista ultimate at the moment. As far as web browsers go I like safari a lot, maybe I should try chrome and/or firefox.

I guess he has money to burn. I'd rather waste my money on parts that actually make my car faster, hookers, and drugs. Fucking amateurs. :

I'm running only 2GB on my PC right now. I'm sure if I upped it to 4GB it'd be stupid fast. As for the 8GB you'd only need that much memory if you were gaming which I don't. Unfortunately, I only have two memory card slots so my expandability is limited.

I'll keep it at 4 then because I dont do any gaming on my computer. I only have two slots on my laptop as well so it was going to be pretty pricey to do it. I am currently maxed at 8, will that increase after the update?

Maxed at 8GB of RAM? That won't increase because of an OS upgrade. That's a hardware issue. The mobo may not support more than that.

Yeah, thats all 64bit vista could handle. I just wasnt sure if 7 could handle more or not. There may be hardware limitations as well though. Nice swan dive btw.

I'm sure 7 could handle more but if you don't really need it, save your money for engine mods. A lot of times when it comes to upping your RAM you need to make sure your mobo can handle it. Also, you liked that reverse swan dive huh?

8gb is definitely overkill. I've got 6gb, and it's more than plenty for gaming. The only time when I actually used all 6gb was when I was uber compressing something. I compressed it from 740mb to 100mb.
As of right now, I'm currently running Firefox, NOD32, and Xfire, and I have 4.62gb free.
Z is right, too. the maximum amount of RAM you can possibly have is limited by the motherboard. The only limitation on RAM software-wise is the 4gb limit in 32 bit. If you have 64 bit, you can use all the RAM you want, lol.
Either way, you're going to love the decreased resources that Win7 uses compared to Vista. If you want, I can give you some online guides that'll give you even more free RAM that you can use for other programs. On my netbook that I just got, I increased the free RAM at idle from 900mb free to 1.4gb free, just from uninstalling bloatware and doing some optimizations. Just send me a PM Bill, or anyone else for that matter.

Thanks Jeff. I'll let you know once it is installed and everything is working well. My friend is coming over in a few minutes to install it.

I've had windows 7 for about 5 or 6 months, and haven't had any problems with it, and I love it, and recommend it to everyone, and I like run on sentences. I only have 2gb Ram and its pleanty fast for anything I throw at it...but then again, I have a 500gb EX HD that I store everything else on, so not too much junk on my comp.

I now have Windows 7 Ultimate. It's pretty cool, I havent done much exploring though. One of my friends works for a computer store and I got a legit completely legal install for almost free. I think I did pretty good.

Man I'm going through a massive mod withdrawal right now. I need to get me an oil catch can or something! lol. Oh yeah, does anyone have any idea where I can get that braided vinyl tubing stuff that people use for the catch can? I went to Autozone, and all they had was the bland black heater hose. Hmm...
