americanized M3's are crap... Just ask Matt, He knows them well... now if you can import one from germany, that is a different story. Now, dont get me wrong, the M3's are nice, but it is still detuned to meet our "safety and emissions" bs standards. on top of that be prepared to drop some hefty coin on simple maintenance...

Well, I've been pretty impressed with the BMW's I've driven. While my friends FX was ordered he was driving his mom's 335i convertible and it was very impressive. More than enough fun for me. I'm sure an M3 would be even better. An e46, 01-06, goes 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and probably has better handling than a Mach 1

And also cost 3x more to keep on the road. Might out handle a Mach, but the saleen would give it a run for its money in turns

Bill, the one thing you fail to grasp is that there is a difference between driving an M3 and owning an M3.  No offense, but even if you owned one, I highly doubt you'd be the one responsible for the maintenance anyway.

None taken. You're right, I'm out of touch with reality. I never think about maintenance, insurance, taxes, etc. Probably something I should. But german cars are a bitch no maintain. I remember a $7,000 repair bill on the S500. It was like 4 years old and had <50,000 miles. I would love to own an M3 and if I am able too I will. Priorities may get in the way though. Mike, is your insurance not really high? Under 25 single male with a sc rwd coupe.

Maintenance on my MkII GTi was pretty absurd also.  German cars are nice and all, but they're over-engineered to the point where working on them sucks and isn't exactly practical.

I try to remember you're still young Bill.  Hopefully your perspective will change in the next 10-15 years.  Things are very different when you're only dependent on yourself.

exactly, for the one simple reservoir my bmw needed it was going to be 135 for the tank plus 45 for the sensor plus another 300 for bmw to put it in(the recommended me bring it to them)... Fuck, that was a 92 e36... I talked to the guy working on my car today and it is going to be 400 max for parts and labor that is having a boost gauge installed, mufflers welded in, parts for and labor rebuilding the supercharger... God forbid you hook a scan tool up to a VW, their PCM's are written to completely fuck up a scan tool that is not vw compatible(our genesis that the school paid like 6k for, yeah toast, thank you vw)

My accord, 215 a month, the diesel monster, 197 a month. What is a bitch, is that ford and saleen never changed the vin, so in the insurance company computer it is a 2000 mustang gt, therefore if the car gets wrecked I will have to fight my insurance(easy battle) for them to pay saleen price for the car.

Dealer actually gave me a grand more than trade in on my car and a grand less on the Mach. We havent even haggled the price yet and he hadn’t even put the damn car on the lot and he’s trying to ram it down my throat, I felt really uneasy about that coupled with the fact that it really didn’t do that much for me, like I thought it would, depressing really. I was cramped, exhaust was loud as fuck, clutch pedal was stiffer than a bitch, I was imagining sitting in traffic for an hour, not a happy thought. It was fast as fuck but going from the ‘luxury car’ of the TSX to the no frills Mach, I couldn’t do it. Just in general not happy. I’m still wanting to sell my car so it’s going to be TL-S or a 6spd Accord, only due to the fact that I know the brand and I know it’ll fit me and make my grumpy, picky ass fucking happy….time to log off and get my thoughts straight and get some work done.

For shits and giggles I checked out a dealer in north AL that I know has some TL-S...Motherfucker has like 8 of em, of course only one is a manual! Time to make a trip
