Unfortunately, no. Most places there don't have them. It is a college town. There are probably about 30k people who live there 20k of which attend the university. So, I guess they assume most college students dont care as much about having one. Only one of the houses that we looked at had one and it was in an adult neighborhood.

Alright, so I am picking out some AV equipment for the condo. Anyone have any suggestions? I need a TV, receiver, and speakers. I think I am going to try to get by with 3.1 channels because I don't want wires running to the back and all around the living room. I like the Samsung LED tvs but have no experience with them. My preference is plasma especially considering there isnt much light in the living room. I want 50"+ but I dont want the condition to get bad. We have both Runco and Fujitsu 50"+ but those are in a different league compared to what I am looking at. What do you guys have experience with. I plan to have an HD cable box and Bluray hooked up to it to give you guys an idea. As for the receiver, I like Onkyo and I need HDMI switching and 1080P capability. Speakers I want two floor standing speakers, a center channel, and a sub. I want the velodyne minivee in my living room but I dont know if I will be able to get that. Another thought is a sound bar. Do you guys have any experience with those? So, basically what I am asking is what experience do you guys have with 50"+ tvs quality and what do you suggest and what kind of speakers. I am on a limited budget relative to what I could spend. So shoot me some suggestions guys.

I lived through "andrew" bill...you don't have to tell me.  Regarding the snow, I love it...I went to BJ's late night last night to get a few things, and took my time going home cause I love driving in it...I also have a full time 4wd jeep grand cherokee though, so that makes getting sideways a bit more managable

I have a 52" LCD that I picked up two weeks ago for about 1200. Pretty sweet tv. Samsung IIRC. As for the other questions, you'd be better off asking in the Audio/Video Q&A thread that way this thread remains what it's supposed to be. Off topic banter.

Bill, there's not much I can say because my experience with different brands is limited. I have a shitty Koss 5.1 speaker system that I've had for years (which surprisingly works very well for as much as I care), and I just recently got an LG 42" LCD 720p HDTV. I opted for 720p because there's no difference at such a small screen size. As far as plasma goes, personally I feel that plasma is overrated and overpriced. I would go with either LED or LCD. I know that the Sharp Aquos is a very good brand, but very pricey.

I can, however, help you out with any cabling and connections. So whenever you get to that stage, just hit me up. The fucktards that did the entertainment setup for our living room when the house was built are a bunch of idiots. We had full surround sound systems installed, but they ended up using fucking RCA connections. I promptly corrected that, and we now have a true Dolby Digital surround sound living room. I also corrected a bunch of problems that were present involving other various A/V connections. Our HD cable box was set to use 1080i instead of 720p (parents have a Sony Bravia 46" 720p LCD HDTV), which is fucking dumb since that's not what the TV is rated for.
