I guess that not everyone has a bunch of extra primary wire lying around like me.  But the ground wire can be grounded anywhere on the chassis, so it doesn't have to be a long run.  You sure it was a ground wire?

Even though our area is in the same situation I may clean mine up as well. Cant stand all the water spots that are combined with pollen and body shop dust.  At least if I clean it it'll be looking clean while it's getting rained on. LOL!!!
