Seriously, What the FUCK?? This year, the city of Chattanooga, in all of its brilliant wonder, decided not to give anyone their cost of living raise which varies from 1-3% based on how long you have been with the city. In addition to them taking our cost of living raise, they raised the cost of our health care, with the excuse of we have spent too much and cuts need to be made to stay within our budget. Then they leak this bullshit out and let everyone know they are going to give bicycles to the homeless so they can maneuver through the city to the liquor stores crack dealers and begging spots more freely. Our mayor is fucking broken, strait broken. would anyone like to gather their city and work out a trade? Mayor Littlefield is a crook and a scandal who has defrauded the city for millions of dollars and is building a 2 million dollar homeless shelter. Building a new shelter, I can understand. blowing the city's budget on it, I cant. Mayor littlefield unlike most people accept and love the homeless and warmly invite them to our city. chattanooga is turning into a homeless Mecca(no offense to anyone of the Muslim religion). What kills me about our homeless is the fact that none of them want help, they just want a free meal, a free beer, and free money. I know there are some homeless out there that truly need help but most of the homeless here dont need help nor do they deserve pity. All of the ones who actually want help finding employment usually are off the streets within a matter of months because people actually help the ones who are willing to meet in the middle and put forth some effort. Many people may not know that homeless people can use a community kitchen or mission as a place of residence to collect a disability check for $650 a month. Fun fact to know aint it. I apologize for the long rant and thank you all for reading. working for the city you begin to realize how much you really get the shaft

That sucks.  I may seem coldhearted, but I don't give people change on the street when I'm in Boston.  I'm just a prick like that I guess, but I'm not willing to pay for them to get fucked up.  Try offering a homeless person a meal and see how they react.  9 out of 10 times they will refuse the meal and ask for money instead because they just want alcohol/drugs.

I feel the same way. I used to hang out at a restaurant in my district and the owners and I and a few of the guys would hang out on the patio and homeless people would all the time ask for money or cigarettes, Greg, the owner, would ask if they would like a bite to eat instead and they would usually just keep walkin

Enjoy my local bums;

see im the exact opposite. I dont give any money to charaties. Whenever someone asks on the street i give a few bucks. I figure whatever they need to do to get through the day. We dont know the crap they have to deal with, so booze or drugs may numb the pain better than a sandwich.

Damn P, that was very much disturbing. And I don't give anyone shit. I worked for my money, and therefore it is mine for me to do what I need to do. If they want money, find a way to get it. Legally and without charity.

For someone who is that far down on their life, its not easy to just get a job, in fact its next to impossible.  So unless someone gives them charity, enough to at least get them cleaned up and give them a shot to get a job, these people are screwed. I give money if I can afford too, and if I feel liek it.  It all depends on the situation...
