1  K Series Performance / Bolt Ons / Re: catalyst code... on: January 26, 2011, 02:48:15 PM
I'm messing around with resistors.  Cheesy  In fact, I'm putting in a diode on the sig+ wire to the o2 sensor.  I'm going to do this today and if it eliminates my problem, I'll write up a diy.  It will cost $2 at most.  But it will require soldering.  I'll keep you guys posted.

Reviving this old thread.  I just got a test pipe made for my car and I have the cat efficiency code even with a o2 simulator (defouler).  Does anyone, by any chance, know which of the 4 wires on the o2 sensor is the signal wire?  I'm just going to solder in a resistor to eliminate the cel on my car.

You know what's funny?  Some people actually got butthurt over this.  Hurrr.  Bandwagon trends...

What do you guys think?

They're Enkei RPF1s 18x8.5 +40 all around.  I didn't like them originally and got them mostly for the performance gain of wider wheels (and hence, wider tires), but then they grew on me.  Ideally, I'd like this size in my old cr kais.  Here are some pics...

Finally got more recent pictures of my car...  Here's my car with my new (to me) Enkei RPF1s in 18x8.5 +40 offset.

6  Lounge / General Automotive & Forum Discussion / ASE testing anyone? on: November 10, 2010, 12:06:26 PM
Anyone else do ASE testing for certs or re-certification last night?
Those were my first ASE tests (nervous as hell) and they were pretty simple and straight forward.  Just a few tricky ones here and there.  I took A4 (steering/suspension) and A5 (brakes).  It took me about an hour and a half to finish them, but I'm pretty confident that I passed.  I only have one year of formal training at school, so I can't really get my patches yet if I passed.  I'll need to work for at least another year.  Pfft.
7  K Series Performance / Bolt Ons / Re: pulley kits? on: September 16, 2010, 11:40:04 AM
Chiming in here.  I have the Ralco RZ pulleys.  I can tell you first hand, that there is a 'power gain' that you can feel mid range; mostly between 2-4k rpm.  Might be different for others (I have AT).  The gain is very noticeable even with the butt dyno.  I hesitate to say that you made power.  It's more like freeing up lost power.  The other thing to think about is that since this replaces the crank pulley (which is our harmonic dampener), your idle 'may' be a little bit more rough/bouncy.  Mine was already rough for some reason, but this just seemed to amplify it.  I had an issue with my Ralco RZ crank pulley.  Not sure if other people had it, but the inside of the pulley was rubbing up against the block (which actually shaved off some of the material).  The shop threw the crank pulley on a lathe and cut off some of the material and it ended up to be a good fit.  My thought was maybe that my crank pulley was not actually made for my accord (even though it fit perfectly).  Pictures of this at the bottom.  But overall, I highly recommend this mod for those out there questioning it.  It may not be worth the full retail price, but since I got it for cheap, it's definitely worth it.

The pieces of metal from my block.  Could've taken the front main seal along with it too.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's my review of my Ralco RZ under drive pulleys.

I'll get a comparison vid up soon.

As for wiring, the stock horns ground themselves with the mounting screw.  To wire them up, you can cut off the stock connector for power and solder on extra wire and crimp on a female blade connector on the end.  Hook that up to positive on the horn.  And for negative, I crimped a female blade connector on one end for the horn side and on the other end of the wire I used a ring connector and used the hood latch bolts as ground.  It worked well and is still working to this day.

For mounting you can just use your stock mounting point and hardware.  It's VERY straight forward.

You probably don't have "not an ashtray" clipped in all the way.

From the looks of the picture, Tim may be correct.

BRIAN. I am in the same boat as you. I totally agree with you on all those terms.

You car looks good man. Is it ok if I rock Dampachi on my car? He is on the B-pillar.

Thanks.  Dampachi is fine with me.  I'm not one who can determine what people can have in their cars or not.  Tongue

I was wondering why you texted me last night.  Then I was wondering what those blue stripes were on your windshield in the earlier pictures.  Now it all comes into perspective.  Ohh yeah.  Your center caps don't match your wheels.   Tongue  Thanks though.

get an exhaust tip.... the little guy hanging out the back looks a little silly

stance looks great, maybe throw some fog lights in the fog light open holes in your bumper

I'm planning on getting a muffler put on.  I still have all of my custom piping minus the muffler because I had to go stock for a ticket I got.  And yeah, I'm planning on getting fog lights or the oe grill cover to put in there.

Why brake cooling ducts?  Do you use your car to the point of getting your brakes hot enough to warrant having brake ducts?

I think fog lights would be more functional for a DD than brake ducts.

Very valid points, Mark.  I'll definitely take that into consideration.  Especially since I don't really have the time to fabricate. Boo.

i never understood the whole bike rack craze. 95% of the people i know with these on don't even own a bike and when you ask them why they can never give me a valid reason

Yeah.  I never understood it either.  I've seen some people put basket cases on top of there and strap wheels onto them too.  It's kinda awkward.

i agree with your points, but why would you want to put tape across 25% of your windshield?  just keep a safe eye for oncoming traffic while turning left

True.  I also ask the same thing to those people who put stickers on their windshields as well (stacked exactly like mine).  My mom took the tape off of the windshield. Haahahah.  She was worried that someone would vandalize my car.  Oh well...

Am I doin' it rite?  I think I've owed you guys new pictures for a long time.  I finally got my suspension setup to the point where I'm happy to show it off.

I hate most of the current trends out right now.  Most are here in california.  This is my tribute to those ricers.  I'm going to get flamed for it, but I don't care.  Those on my windshield are the top ones on my list.  I missed a few big ones too, but whatever.  My whole windshield would be  full to the point where I couldn't see if I listed them all.

I've turned this picture thread into a sort of rant as well.  Not the first on this topic, but here's a few other trends that I hate; Negative camber just so you can 'tuck in' your rear wheels (note; only the rears) because you have -10 offset wheels on the rear, stupid license plate relocators (not for a practical reason), non-matching engine bay colors, side markers (did you know that honda owners in japan hate their side markers?), aluminum tow hooks that will break when you tow from them, people drawing on their front lips, and plenty more.  I pretty much hate anything that ruins the original cleanliness and lines of the car.  Sorry if you get offended.  I know my car isn't perfect nor am I myself in the position to say stuff like that, but oh well...

Comments and criticism welcome.
Oh and yes, I know I need a rear lip and fog lights or a fog light cover.  I'm actually going to turn my fog light bezels into brake cooling ducts.

Are you confident enough in your abilities to do some soldering?  If not, you can just crimp it.  I did everything already, forgot to take pictures, but its pretty straight forward and I can wing it for the instructions.  As for comparison, I'll meet up with a friend and make a video just for comparison.  Won't do it much justice though.  It's a nice, loud, commanding tone.  I like it.  Just let me know what you need to know.

Reviving this dead thread;
If anyone is interested, I just received my Hella Supertones horns in the mail.  I got the dual horn setup.  It's rated at 118dB, as stated above.  I'll make a before and after video and maybe a DIY.  I'll keep you guys posted.

Clean your MAF...probably won't help much but likely won't hurt.

O2 sensors usually get lazy...they don't throw a MIL but they just don't respond like they should.  I'd be willing to bet that's a big part of your mileage loss.  As for checking them, I don't know...I just always considered them maintenance items.

Have you considered seafoam?

I clean my maf everytime I clean my filter.  I just seafoamed my motor a week ago too, so I'll see if I notice a difference.  My o2 sensors may need replacing.  I'm not sure how willing I am to replace them.  It depends on price, mostly.
