Title: The Ktuner thread
Post by: Pascal on March 25, 2015, 01:40:44 PM
I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread about Ktuner for our k series accords. My main idea is to build the main post with the answers to the questions that will pop up and common issues with it.

Here are basic info from Ktuner's web site:

_______________________________________

KTuner for 03-05 Accord Automatic and Manual, Euro CL7 Manual

What are my options?
• Dealer Reflashes and Tuning – Starting at $299
• End User System – Hardware/software. Datalog and make your own changes – $449

How do I get KTuner?
• Contact a dealer for a reflash, dyno tuning, or to order the end user package.

What’s required?
• 03-04 Accords and Euro CL7 must use an ECU from a 2005 model or factory replacement ECU.
• Your factory 05 Accord (Non-Euro) ECU can be modified by a dealer to accept a reflash or an end user KTuner system.
• You can also order a prepared ECU from any of our dealers.

Will anything change?
• If using an ECU other than factory the immobilizer light on the dashboard will flash. You can disable the immobilizer in the software and unplug the immobilizer unit to prevent flashing on the dashboard or you can have the ECU sync’d to your immobilizer at any Honda/Acura dealer.

Part numbers for usable ECUs include:
Manual:
37820-RAD-A01 through A04
37820-RAD-L01 through L04
37820-RAD-306
37820-RAD-316

Automatic:
37820-RAD-A51 through A54
37820-RAD-A61 through A64
37820-RAD-L51 through L54
37820-RAD-L61 through L66
37820-RAD-L71 through L73
37820-RAD-305
37820-RAD-307
37820-RAD-315
37820-RAD-317
37820-RAD-325
37820-RAD-327
37820-RAD-329
37820-RAD-415

Automatic ECUs will run a manual vehicle with no issues.

Common issue with ktuner on 03-04 accords :

Note that 03-04 accord's have a different type of sensor in the radiator to activate the fans than the 05 (which is the year ecu that needs to be used)
(Refer to the diagram below)
On the 03-04, the fans are activated either by a output on the ecu (for when A/C is on as an example) or via a thermo-switch on the radiator that triggers the fan relays.
On the 05, the thermo-switch is replaced by a ECT (labeled as ECT 2) that reads the temperature and sends it to an input on the ecu.
What this means is, if you use a 05 ecu on a 03-04 accord, there will be nothing going in the ECT 2 input, thus the ecu will throw a code (P0128 for my case, Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature)
Ktuner released a update to fix this and you can (and must) desactivate the ECT 2 sensor in the ktuner software.

So i live in Atlanta, GA...
Sampson in South Florida specializes in k24a4 engine tuning....

Im not sure if i should drive down there and get Ktuner or have it ordered..??
how would he tune my car from so far away..? i'm in the dark about this...

When i spoke to him..i gathered this much:

Either i come down there, and he does it all..

Or

He sends me everything i need (Ktuner + 05 ecu) and i do street tuning myself?

anyone want to chime in?

There has to be a shop in Atlanta that you can go to also.  I have a buddy that lives down there with a rotrex supercharged k swapped EM2.  I can ask him if there is someone local that he would suggest and make your life a little easier.

can i use a 0607 ecu with ktuner to run a k24a2 engine with good performance? as tsx ecu and other stuff are bit expensive?

The best advice I can give is to contact k tuner directly and ask them. They know their product a lot better than most of the people on here would. All of my experience is with k pro, so I can't really offer any advice.

if your car is a 2003-2005, you need a 2005 accord ECU, if the car is a 2006-2007 , the stock ecu can be used.
