Title: Brand new brakes/rotors installed
Post by: DreaminAccord on January 16, 2013, 04:52:49 PM
Well I got all four new rotors & pads installed today, along with new Honda DOT 3 brake fluid  Let me just say, the difference between the stock warping rotors & 1/2 life pads vs. the new is like night and day! My braking is now smooth again with no slight shaking in the steering wheel. The rotors are R1 Concepts Premium Series that are Black Electro-coated for rust prevention, the front pads are Posi-Quiet Ceramics while the rears are Akebono Ceramics (Posi-Quiet does not make rear pads for the 7G Accord)

Here are some pics of the old vs. new:

All caliper pins were greased with brake silicone, anti-seize was applied to every bolt as well as where the brake pad body touches the hardware, all hardware and brake parts were cleaned with brake cleaner, and each brake line bled with new fluid. :)

When it gets warmer out, I plan on painting the calipers black to match the R1 Concepts rotors for a nice clean look.

A big thanks to Eric The Car Guy for his awesome How-To videos!

Just based on looks alone it is a HUGE difference!  Glad the performance is up to par also..

I would say that anything is better than what you just explained right there.

Yes, I've used R1 Concepts and Akebono pads in the past and have had really great experiences with them being dust free, extremely quiet, and their longevity is surreal. Joe from DA had just said he is running R1 premium rotors with Akebono pads x4 corners, has had the rear done for 15 months and the fronts done for 6 months and all of them still brake like they're brand new

lol touché

How much did the new setup cost for 2 new rotors and pads ?
