That was my problem as well, couldn’t find a 6spd to save my life. After having my Accord trans screw up on me, not really looking to deal with that again. That’s why a Cobra would work, T-56 trans is freaking bullet proof. Cobra’s are more rare than a 6MT down here. There is a white Mach 1 that I’ve had my eye on. Not as much HP or styling as the Cobra, but it’s also cheaper. I haven’t owned a Ford product in 12yrs

Moot point. My Expedition was 4x2 and did just fine through the winter with all seasons. Its the driver that saves from wrecks. Not the drivetrain configuration. Anyway, if you're worried about hauling your kids around, the Cobra is not for you Jer. Might I suggest a Charger RT?

The cobra has all the appropriate safety features uch as the proper child restraint anchors. What z said is true, it is never the car, it is the operator. A cobra will only go as fast as you tell it to go.

Some folks like to have a car with real power... You can mod your accord until your blue in the face but, the guy with the Cobra can spend 1/8th of the money and make 650 horses. Civic is cheaper and better on gas because its smaller.

Gotta agree with cracker on this one. Had a 5th gen accord, only big problem was the the ecu went but that was on a 15 year old car ... its bound to happen.  I sold it when my uncle GAVE me an '03 monte carlo 3.4. I had it for a year and it was nothin but problems. Nothin big but just like gremlins, one day problem A would occur than the next day/week it would be either nothing wrong, problem A still or something completely different, I got tired of it real quick.  Not to mention the auto trans was slipping after having it for less than a year(which I will take most of the blame for, I got a heavy foot).  And don't even get me started on the resale... I private sold my 5th gen with 150k on it for 2300. When I traded the monte for my 7th gen they gave me 2500... wtf??? 200 more for a NINE year newer car with a little more than half of the miles? That's rediculous, so now im back in a Honda, opted for the better engine this time and couldnt be happier with 3 peddles again.

An SVT vehicle isn't like buying a truck. Everything is hand assembled, and the best parts are used. Anyone that says a Honda is more reliable than anything else is a fool. They have just as many issues as anyone. At the end of the day most cars made today by all manufactures suck. They literally don't make shit like they used to but, I can tell you that everyone in my family owns Fords and every last one of them (6 in my driveway) have had less issues than my Accord. If your buying something like an SVT vehicle, MACH 1, Saleen, or Roush your buying a collecters item at the same time. Find me a 1996 Honda that cost 30k new that you can still sell for 8 - 10k today.

I have to say that it seems like Ford has stepped up their game in the past few years.  Of the big 3, I prefer Ford over Chevy and Chrysler.  I think there was a big wake up call when the bail outs happened.  Unfortunately, Mike is right though.  None of the cars today are the quality they used to be in the past.  We live in a disposable society that was created by the manufacturers.

But while were on the topic of Mustangs, maybe you guys can help me out with this one.  Some guy on one of the other forums pissed me off, and insulted my intelligence.  Now I've never owned a mustang personally but a good bunch of my friends have (two of which having owned pretty much every gen under the sun, except 1st gen and current), so I dont consider myself mustang dumb in anyway.  This guy wrote an intro talkin about his '04 Mach 1 and he kept referring to it as an SN95 body... wouldn't an '04 be a New Edge?  I know the chassis are the same, but the body is completely different.  And up until this point, I had NEVER heard anyone refer to a New Edge as a SN95.  I could understand if he said SN95 chassis, but he didn't, he said SN95 body.  Am I goin crazy?  Or does this guy just not know shit about his own car?  What do ya think?

As far as the collectors items thing, mike could not have said it better, out side of stupid rich kids with daddy's money, people buyvthem to collect. In fact, the Saleen club of America projects the value of saleen vehicles(before SMS) to increase by $4-6k because what little bit of a company Saleen has left has been ordered out of business by it's parent company. The proof is in the numbers, I mean shit, my car was assembled by hand in Michigan. I know thiscforca fact because I've talked to thecguy who put it together. Only 954 people had the ability to own 2000 model year Saleen cars, of that , 252 were supercharged coupes. Most other "limited edition" cars are mass produced.

Generally does include a compression test. For time sake I generally don't worry about a leak down test if it has good compression. And A bore scope check on pistons

Today I've got a few thoughts running through my head today. My car is at about 95K. It's got some small issues that need repair but, I'm debating just moving onto something else. I'm not sure what I should do. I've looked at 4 different cars today, and I'm lost and sort of looking for what others think

1. 04-06 TSX 6 Speed
2. 05-06 Pontiac GTO (6.0L LS2 has fun writtien all over it)
3. 2000 Honda Civic SI
4. 2000 - 2004 Mustang GT
5. Keep my accord and dump the 2 or 3k into it to make it last a few more years..

I would keep it.  But that's just me.  Only way I'm getting out of my car is if it's totaled and blows up.

How much can you realistically get for it?

TSXs are nice, almost bought one before my Accord, but I wanted more power.  So glad I went with the Accord. :)

I'm four transmissions deep, and my warranty is coming up on its end... I'd be happy with 8k.

It all depends on what you want out of your next car Mike. Here are my thoughts

1. 04-06 TSX 6 Speed – Nice/Plush/decent power from a K24 (premium gas)
2. 05-06 Pontiac GTO (6.0L LS2 has fun writtien all over it) Lots of power/very poor mpg, but fun factor might outweigh that
3. 2000 Honda Civic SI – decent power, can be had for pretty cheap
4. 2000 - 2004 Mustang GT – same as above
5. Keep my accord and dump the 2 or 3k into it to make it last a few more years.. – HELL NO, SELL IT NOW

True, you're like all over the place with those cars.  You looking for a two door or a four door? A four banger or an eight?  Get a G8 gxp and call it a day.

I know I haven't really contributed much to this thread, but here is my main concern.

If you're looking for a DD, but want something that has a fun factor to it, I would consider getting some that takes regular unleaded. With gas prices on the rise, that would suck to have to pump premium into your DD all the time.

Granted I'm sure you've already put that into consideration, but I just wanted to bring it up. That would be a deciding factor for me if I were to get a new car right now. That is why when I do end up upgrading, I'll probably stick with an Accord v6 6mt. A TSX or a TL would be nice, but having to put premium in it would get really old really fast.

Now getting a weekend car and a beater like you guys have been talking about would be cool. The only thing that comes up in mind would be maintaining two cars at once. Oh well, I don't really have much experience with owning cars, considering that my 7th Gen is the only car I've ever owned.

Mike- for what its worth, last year I sold my 05 EXL K24 with 200,000 miles on it for $7,000 on cars.com.  I'd think you should be able to get more than $8K for yours.

It's been in a major accident but, of course I will try for more.. I don't really consider the cost of fuel or needing premium into my consideration because my commute is about 6 miles each way to my office. Currently I put gas in my Accord once every two weeks, and generally its about 12 gallons.

This is what my future vette looks like.  I love the t-tops.

Really, there is not much difference in buying premium , if it's 30-40 cents more a gallon, then you are looking at up to four dollars more a fill up based on acten gallon purchase.

Jeremy pretty much summed up what I would say about your choices Mike.  Another thing you may want to consider with the Civic Si, Mustang GT, and the Goat is that they were probably beaten on.  The TSX may have taken some abuse, but it's less likely.  The other thing I would consider is the age of what you were going to get.  Maintenance for an older car can start to add up over time.

It's a different story when you compare a beater DD, when you plan on having a nice weekend car, and when you plan on getting a DD as your only form of transportation.  If it was my only car, I would go with something newer and nicer.  Another thing would be the Si has a tendency to get stolen.  I'd love to have one, but it wouldn't be my DD.  Of all those cars that Mike listed, I'd get a TSX 6MT.  If it was a weekend car, I'd probably try and get the Mustang or Civic Si.

I'm with Tim on that one. When I was shopping for my car, I looked at the TSX but the deciding factor to get me into the Accord was the rear leg room for my kids. As I had the 2nd gen TL, the TSX's rear leg room was identical to that and it sucked. Now Mike, if I were you, I'd look into a manual especially due to your track record with autotragics failing like they have been. Now, if you could find a 666 Accord sedan, you'd have the best of both worlds. Room, and fun factor.

Not a USDM Type R looks nothing like an Accord... It's a pretty good price I've seen them as high as 14k and obviously with higher mileage.

Do it Jer. I've always been a huge fan of the DC2 Type R and would go up to Pensacola myself and steal it out from under your nose if you don't jump on it. I'd much prefer one in Phoenix yellow but Flamenco black works. All that shit you mentioned is cheap to fix though. As for size, I was running around in my DA for a while with one kid and the wife in there. Its definitely not family car sized. It sure would be a fun DD/ toy. Can't beat the sound of a high revving B18C5.

Jer, the only two problems I see with the cobra are: the front plate, and the shift light. The front plate should not have a mount so they may have drilled holes in the front bumper for it... would not really make a difference if you kept a front plate on it, no biggie. The second is the shift light. When someone has a shift light like that installed, they are either old and not very good at knowing whne to shift(more than likely with this car given the miles and other mods) or someone hot rodded it but not very much given the mileage. Another thing to look into is the vehicle history, mostly the miles driven per year. if it has been a lot rod, I would make sure to have it inspected which it should be fine, but things that have sat all of their life and never been driven may run into problems. It looks to be a good cobra and well worth the price.

Found a BMW I kinda like... I have always been drawn to BMW's but the maintenance on them is killer. Caleb can work on them and get parts cheaper than I can so it does not seem so bad..

Sorry but, I have to agree with Z I've driven both I'd rather have the ITR. Never mind the facts that its cheaper and more fuel efficient.

My issues with it is it has a new front clip, could have been in a wreck. Its missing the original steering wheel, which is usualy a give a way. Wing is missing too. Just too much stuff off with the car. I like it otherwise though.

That front clip swap is not a sign of a wreck at all. It is the single most common mod among DC5 Integras. Ask them if you can look at it on a lift you will know if it was in a wreck.

Take into consideration the average owner of a car like that though. Yes I am being stereotypical, but a car like an itr is a lot more likely to be ragged on and molested especially with the fast and furious craze over the past few years

Country, not necessarily. ITR's aren't exactly common vehicles. Same as your Saleen. Anyone could make that argument over any sports car. The steering wheel swap is another common mod. The wing isn't a big deal. I've seen most ITR owners remove the wing to make it less of a thief target. Consider ITR owners the connoisseurs of the Integra world much like Saleen owners being the same for the Mustang world.

I'm sort of leaning towards the white exterior / ivory interior Accord, but the silver/black combo is nice too. Only problem is the pictures look like shit. I'm going to have to go and look at both of them.

Just saw the price/mileage. That is very cheap. Do this:

1.   Call for availability
2.   Get CarFax
3.   Test Drive
4.   Loan
5.   Buy that bitch!

Some dealers will list a car, tell you they have it, then once your there, tell you, "oh we just sold that car, but we've got this one for $5K more".  They suck monkey nuts.

Carfax reports 8 records, and Autocheck reports 9 records for that TSX.

That seems high for an individually owned car, so there's something up with it.

Possibly reported accidents, or the owner moved a lot.  Unless he got all dealer maintenance and the dealer reported all service trips, but I'm not sure if that shows up as a separate record on Carfax.

If you're serious about it, check into the carfax and then make sure to take a look at the car.. Check for flood damage, miscolored body panels, weird gaps, VIN numbers, etc..

Well, a lot of the other cars that I have been looking at have a high number of carfax records. Some had upwards of 20 records. Most of them were when the vehicle registration was renewed or whatever though.

In terms of the rental cars, 9 times out of 10 I return the car with suspension damage because I beat on them like a red headed step child.  Also, the cars get repaired at their own shops not dealers.  Which isn't to say it's a bad thing, just something to think about. On the bright side, nothing drives like a rental. LoL.

i worked at avis rent a car for two years. in a small airport so i knew all the big companies, they all got repaired at dealerships. they were all under warrenty. this is the way we did it in eugene. maybe different somewhere else. but i would never buy a rental car, first because customers beat the car to shit, and second the  employees are just as bad if not worse. mainly the tranny and breaks.

I tend to hit more potholes, just cause I'm paying less attention.

Well, I've looked at accords, a Tacoma, an f150, a Colorado, a Lexus, and a brand new gti. I believe I have finally found something that suits all of my needs, a 2010 ford exploder. My good friend has an explorer and get way better mileage that what it's rated at, plus I can put cheap gas in it :P. I am beginning to feel cramped in my car , as well as tired of the attention it brings. While it brings good attention from females, it attracts idiots that either want to street race or ask four hundred questions about a car that they are unable to pronounce. On top of that, I just need more space.

I agree on not purchasing a rental car.

I've driven my fair share of rental cars, and I know for a fact that I wouldn't buy one because of the way I drive it.

I don't beat rental cars to shit, but I also don't care what type of fuel I use.  I'll fill up at the nearest gas station to the airport, which may mean Shell or Chevron, or it may mean Arco or Billy Joe Bob's Gas Station.

Plus you don't know how others drove the car.  Hitting potholes, doing donuts, brake slams, e-brake slides, etc..

Usually, people don't do that stuff with their personal vehicle.  But a rental car, that's a whole different ballgame..

Jeff, does your next car have to be an Accord or TSX?  What about taking out a small financing loan, if you can keep up with the payments?  It can help you broaden your selection and help you build your credit.  Interest rates are pretty good right now.

There's also an option of not paying off your next car with the money you get from insurance.  So, say for this example scenario:

Insurance money being received: $10,000
Car cost: $15,000

Say you were to take half of the insurance money and put it as a downpayment.  If you were to finance the other $10k for 3 years at 3% APR, you would be looking at a $291 payment, not including financing any tax.  Depending on your tax and registration cost, you may be looking at say a $300 payment.  Stretch that payment over 5 years, and you could be looking at a $180 to $190 monthly payment.

If that's a manageable monthly payment, then you're building credit for the future, and you have an extra $5k of expendable income to place in your savings account.

You also don't need to keep the loan for its whole term.  You can payoff the loan early, but make sure that you get a loan that won't penalize you for early payoff.

But that's an example.. You don't have to do it, but its another option to think about if you're willing to consider it.

I got a call earlier at the Toyota dealer. While I was there I found a truck I really like. It's a 2011 regular cab Tacoma 4cyl, 4x4 auto. It is 23k sticker, but I know the invoice on it so I can haggle very well on it. Now I'm stuck betweena brand new Tacoma with warranty or a 2010 explorer with 28k miles and no warranty and a 5k price difference.  

I like cloth better, you dint stick to it, it doesn't burn you in summer and does turn to ice in winter. My .02

U can put a warranty on the explorer for less than $5k, a better one probably.

The explorer runs out of factory warranty it was purchased in June 09 and the warranty was activated. I can purchase a private warranty for less, but as mark said it's not as good as a factory warranty I would rather have warranty work performed by factory certified technicians at a dealership without a bunch of bs claims workand paperwork that goes along with it

so I'm getting the itch. and it began with this - I went to get new wiper blades from walmart for the civic.  I didn't realize that this was a hard thing to do.  my year, and ONLY my year, honda decided to come up with some god awful design that makes it very difficult to find the blades to replace it with.  long story short, I had to order them through majestic honda (only $20 which is nice) since no one around here carries that type.

anyways, point of this post is that I'm looking to replace the civic again.  I can't deal with such a shitty car anymore.  Looking to find something in the $10k-$13k range so that the negative equity I'll be inheriting won't kill me.  Looking at altima's and camry's.. my stipulation is that it has to be a 4 door (planning for future).. reliable, and relatively luxurious (be nice not to have the road noise drown out my radio).  I don't want an accord (really only like the coupes), and I believe acura's are out of my price range..

Going to be hard to find a newer bodystyle camry for 10-13k. Keep looking though. I'm about to buy a mazda6 from my dad and say fuck it. Not happy with it but it's cheaper than a $400/month car note  ::)

mazda 3 or 6 speed.  Saw a mazda 3 speed the other day, that thing looked beastly.

They have turbo issues. Oil leaking past the turbo, going down thru the exhaust, 5yrs and still no known fix. Had that same issue with my CX7. Mazda can't build boosted engines.

I'm just wondering how this affects you financially and how it affects your credit if you constantly change out cars.  I've never been one to car whore, because I didn't think it would be financially responsible.  I must assume that in the long run, you lose a lot of money and hurt your credit by changing your mind about what car you like driving every month or so.

Its crossed my mind as to how this affects you as well, Jer, buts it's none of my business so that's why i never asked the question. Now that Tim's asked it, I'm curious to know the answer. From my experience, I changed cars once half way through a loan term and I think it added an couple of grand or so to my new loan. Unless you're paying cash right off the top, which is cool too.

Well, my credit took a substantial hit when I traded the accord  what people often do not realize is when you finance through the dealership they send you through every bank to see which one gives the best rate and will pay them more off of the interest rate. I didn't know it. And you generally always take a loss trading vehicles. I had 2300 in negitive equity in the diesel.

I think I'm going to wait for this Toyota/Subaru(FT-86) thing to come out and buy one..

Alright guys, here's an update on my situation.

We've looked at about 5-6 Accords, from both dealers and private sellers. Every single one of them sucked ass in their own special way.

Now we've run out of options, so we have no choice but to wait it out a bit. There's an '08 TL-S at a local Chevy dealership, but they won't go below $22,000.

What would you guys prefer... a TL or a TSX? The reason why I ask is because I can get either for only about $2,000 more than an Accord, which is ridiculous, I know. At that price, I might as well upgrade. The TL's are definitely nice, and so are the TSX's. It's a tough decision. :P

TSX is smaller, better mpgs, but less power, other than that, their the same. I would get a TL, but that's just me

We're pretty set on getting that car (link above), despite the fact that they won't go any lower. (like $17k out the door). It's in almost perfect condition (only problem is the paint got chipped on a mirror... easily fixable).

That thing is fucking hideous. No amount of paint matching the front grille will make that car attractive. As for the Land Rover, I don't know much about those but I don't think they ever came with a manual. I could be wrong on that. The other options are not bad so long as the Camaro is an SS. Anything less than that is crap. My .02.

The defender 90 is from the mid 1990's.  They stopped bringing them over back then because of the air bag requirements.  But you're right, they only came in 5 speeds.  

The Camaro would definitely be an SS.  Or be without a car for a while.

country, i dunno how big you are but im 5'11 280, and since i started looking at bikes i said the same thing. but after riding 3 different 250cc, theyre fun, but i wouldnt feel comfortable on the freeway or somewhere where the speed zone is 55+ for a while. i rode a cb750 loved it but it had alot of things wrong with it but in 1st gear you could feel the pull it had and it was intense.

Well a ranger is rated at 22 city mpg... The mustang was averaging 16.7 mpg. Plus, I can put cheap gas in it instead of premium. Cheap gas is 3.42 a gallOn here right now

I was originally going to get this 03 sonic blue ranger they had but they sold it before I got there and So I went and looked at a 2011... My monthly payment went up 64 bucks and my insurance went up a total of 14 bucks. Which is not bad considering I bought something Brand new that no one has ever had or abused...

I drove the HS250h when it first came out just for shits and giggles and it was awful. I don't care about the persona of driving a small hybrid, it was the car I didn't like. I haven't driven the Lexus CT hybrid yet, I'll stop by next time I'm in Nashville and take it for a spin, but I could see it being fun. I think it looks pretty cool too.

There's no reason to pay the premium on a Prius when a Civic can get 40mpg, give or take.  You won't recover the extra money you spend on the Prius over a Civic in fuel savings during the time you own the car.

I'll tell ya what NOT to get if your goin for gas mileage.  A Kia Forte.  My mom got on and it gets a pretty decent 31 mpg, but thats NOTHING when you compare it to what Kia "claims" is their mileage, which is 38 mpg.  My moms commute is all highway from Bethlehem to Scranton and the highest she has gotten is 31 mpg (and she is a driving saint, never 2 mph over the limit, lol)  It just really sucks and pisses my dad off because he and my mom have had Hondas for years (Accords for my dad, and an Odyssey for my mom), it pisses him off because with every Honda he's had, what Honda "claimed" the mpg was... WAS the mpg.  So goin from that to it being almost a full 10 mpg off, sucks!
And don't even get me started on the Sorrento (4 cyl), i took it to NYC last month with 4 ppl in it and three bikes on the back and it made 19 mpg?!?!  I made more in my 6-6 with a full car and a stuffed tight trunk on the way down to NC last summer (29 mpg).

Speaking of gas milage I drove the LS460 from Nashville to Irvington. It was about 700 miles and drove 80 pretty much the whole way. I averaged 31.5 mpg revving at about 1750 rpms. It had 5 people in it and the trunk was filled with luggage. That plus the fact that it is a 4.6 L V8 with almost 400 hp, I would say it was pretty amazing. Oh, and it is rated at 24 mpg for the hwy. City sucks though.

I honestly have no idea. Maybe Lexus just rated it low. I put BP midgrade in it one of the fill ups and thats the tank I got 31.5 on. The first tank was premium costco and I got 27-28 mpg.. Around town we get 15-17 mpg. It is rated at 16. I'm guessing the 8 speed transmission just helps a ton on the hwy. Now that I think about one time I tried to be efficient as possible on a drive from Nashville to Tupelo and managed to get 36 in the ES350. That was 59 mph for 75% of the miles. I filled up at the gas station right by my grandparents house then got on the highway then got on the Natchez Trace Parkway. That 36 was short lived and with the AC off. I did have my cooled seat on. Maybe Lexus just rates their cars low. We have 3 RX's and they are all either below or right at EPA.

You make me want a lexus, Im too tall for an es350 though, stoopid engineers designing the seat too high. I have been looking for a car lately, but not hardcore like before.  ::)

Back on topic to car whores. I'm entertaining the idea of a Z71 Tahoe then on the complete opposite end of the spectrum a M3 convertible. Part of me wants function and utility and the other part wants to go FAST! I could always swap a LS7 in a Tahoe, haha! I'm sure I will change my mind 300 times before I actually pull the trigger.

Same engine in the cx7, speed3, and speed6, oil leaks past the turbo through the exhaust. It's called a 'smoking turbo'. I would stay far away if I were you.

My uncle had that body style CTS with the 200 hp 3.2L V6.  Fun car, but not really anything to write home about. This bigger engine might have changed my mind, but I cannot say, for sure.


So this won't be happenin any time soon, but I've been considerin my next car.  I'd like to hold onto the Accord, and once its paid off pick somethin else up.  I figure that by the time I'm ready (i.e. better job, accord paid off, home of my own) the 4th Gen TL 6MT's ('10 or '11) should be down to my price range.  I was considering getting one as a daily and projecting my Accord (aka finally getting the CT kit :)).  But another thought popped into my head the other day thats always been there.  Keep the Accord as my daily and pick up a project S2k and probably get that Turbo jawn or an s/c.  Which do you guys think?  The S2k would def be cheaper to buy, but the mod bug would hit hard. lol.

Ryan, it all depends on what you actually want.  The Accord can be a great project car if you want the TL as a DD.  It all depends on whether you're going to be happy with the Accord as a daily or as a project car.  If you were going to build the Accord, I'd pass on the Comptech SC and have Paul build you his M90 SC kit instead.

If it were me, I'd keep my Accord and continue on it's path, get an 08 RL to leave basically stock as a DD/road trip car, and then get a S2K for a fun weekend car.

If I were you, I would keep the Accord as a daily and mod an s2k.  The TL would make a very nice daily though.

All honda v6 auto trannies have issues dude. I'd say go with the tsx v6 6spd.

TSX V6 6spd does not exist.  The 6spd manual only comes with the 4cyl.

DO EEET!  Seriously, comparing the reg TL (which you can get in a 6MT) to the TL-S (which im pretty sure you cant... go figure)  The Reg TL is only shy 16 hp.  Throw a CAI on and a Borla Exhaust and you'll be right up with the TL-S.  Then throw on a nice set of Tein S. Techs and your choice of shocks.  All that will just about make it a TL-S.  And it'll still prolly be cheaper than buyin a TL-S.  Oh, I even saw on ebay that they have a TL to TL-S conversion kit (taillights, smoked markers, and some other goodies) its only like $200.  Thats my .02. :D


Sadly... no.  The latest Gen TSX DOES come with the option of a V6, but all of them are Auto... which is retarded, because the allure to the TSX for me was ALWAYS the SHAWEET 6sp.

Type S does come in a 6spd, just most are autos

30K miles and It's already had brake (master cylinder, rotors, and bads), and CEL issues (3 O2 sensors). My Mom drives like an old lady.

My parents have 3 RX's right now and they couldn't be happier with them. The RX and Highlander are practically the same car. They have had at least one RX since September of 99 and have never had any major problems. As far as 4runners, 5 of my friends drove them in high school and a lot of my friends drive them here too. I have never heard anything bad about them. My sister boyfriend traded his Z71 Tahoe for a 2010 4runner last year and couldn't be happier.

I want my gf to get a CR-Z :D

But she hates the rear end... litterally thats the only thing she doesn't like about it and that makes it a no... haha women...

I want my wife to get an STI, but she doesnt know how to drive manual transmission cars.

I wanted her to get an Si, but she only drives stick in my car in empty parking lots with no one around. (wow that sounds dirty...) lol  Completely forgot the Si's only came in stick.  So I think she's gonna end up gettin a base model 9th gen civic sedan.

Different engine options, and the Toyota version has awd issues. The Lexus is a lot better product in this case.

I don't remember the side exhaust, but I'm pretty sure it didn't have Altezza lights either.

I do remember it having a park bench for a rear wing.  Just because you need all that downforce to keep the car grounded.  220 WHP and all.

I don't see any exhaust on that photo.  I think the Jetta was the one with the side exhaust.  Mike, check out the race wars scene for the Jetta.

You know what... I loved the hatch's when they came out and wasn't much of a fan of the sedans, but I keep seein this WRX sedan on my way home from work.  I don't know it its the color, or what, and it looks stock, doesn't look lowered or anything, but it is justa MEAN lookin car. :D

I'd say go with the WRX though. The STI is only .2 of a second quicker to 60 (with an extra 50 hp... try explainin that).  That's what I'd do, buy a WRX put the 5-10k that I saved from the STI into it and WALK STIs left and right. :D

So.. I have been thinking about trading my car here lately. I was planning on getting an S2000 this time of year, but I decided that a 2 door convertible didn't make much sense for a sophomore in college to have. Then I decided that I was going to buy my Uncles Ducati. I decided pretty quick that I don't trust myself with a bike. I should have a little bit of savings when I start school. I'm thinking about applying my savings to trading my car on an E46. I think it would be a little more fun and a change of scenery. I'm kinda thinking if I could find a manual it could be kinda fun. What do you guys think?

That's kinda what I figured. I am not sure how reliable Edmunds is but from what I can tell the 01 isn't that bad. It was rated "good" in everything but engine. It said it had moderate problems and listed them. It was about a $400 repair. Overall it received a 5 out of 5 rating. The 02-03 had significant problems with the engine and moderate with the transmission and drive line. The 04 was a little better. It didn't have any "significant problems".

Front and rear brakes on a BMW will be about $1200 at a dealership.  Keep in mind the maintenance costs as well.

It will cost even more for an M.

Well, shit.. Thanks for the input guys. My disposable income is probably about to go down to $250-$350 a month now that school is starting. That doesn't make this very plausible.

Ridgelines are pretty nice.  If I needed a kind of truck without a big bed, I'd consider a Ridgeline.

The Ridgeline reminds me of a El Camino.  It doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up.  By truck standards its pathetic however if you're looking for a car based SUV with a bed its a winner.

True.  The Factory 5 kit cars are really nice.  I just really hate the body kit cars where you take a run of the mill junker and make it look like a high end car.  At least the Factory 5 Shelby Cobra is a complete car, and not just a body kit for an existing car like a Miata.  I've wanted to get a 32 Ford three window coupe from Brookville Roadster, since there's no way I'll ever own an original.

So, I was driving around Cincinnati today and came across a white G8 GXP that sounded like it had an exhaust and a cam.  I thought it sounded fairly decent and went on my way.  I was talking to a supervisor at one of my accounts, and know that he has a bone stock turbo Cobalt SS.  He was telling me about the same car I ran into and said he ran it.  Kinda sad that his turbo Cobalt SS beat the G8 GXP.  He thinks the owner has the a/t and is just a shitty driver.  It sounded fucking mean, but it must have been all bark with no bite.

I'm lettin the B.S. flag fly on this one...

No way is a 250 hp Cobalt Turbo beating a 402 hp GXP...sry I just don't believe it, unless the Cobalt did a ricer flyby and called it a win.

Dream on, the NSX (1st gen w/ the flip lights) is just BEAUTY to me.  I would love to have either a a blue one or the red with black roof two tone. I see a couple around town with undeserving pricks driving em.  With ugly ass pep boys chrome rims (seriously).  I kept seein one at the garage down the street from my house and I asked whos it was, the mechanic told me it was the owners son and he was having them put this haggard ass exhaust on it, and that it made him sad cause he knew it was gonna turn the symphony that is the C30 into a raspy pos.  I also see this red one on my way to work in the morning, the kid can't be any older than me... makes me wish my mommy and daddy had more money. But then when I think about it, I'm happy with my life, so I'll just have to save up and get one. ;)

Oh, don't get me wrong.  The NSX is a fantastic car.  One of my friend's has a red one, with a bunch of jrzs and taitec stuff.  He is looking at possibly selling it, so if you're interested, let me know..

Just for shits n' giggles, I looked up on Autotrader for any nearby NSX's. There were only two, and both of them were going for about $60,000. I think one of them had a Comptech S/C on it. The other had a completely redone interior. I didn't realize they went for that much!

depends on the year.. NA1's can be had much cheaper than that.. what you were looking at must have been NA2's, and even then, that seems high..

The cheapest one I've seen is for just under 20k for a NA1... which is what I would want... I'd add a Comptech myself ;)

Jer, a built Accord is a fun car that's practical.

Only real difference is the tail lights and they do swap over. I saw those up close a lot in the mid east.

For 2k more get the one with half the mileage.  I'm 6'-2", and when I sat in the driver seat of an si sedan, nobody could sit behind me.

That could be a simple fix.  You can either make them fix the problem, or make them knock off like $2000 from the price and fix it yourself.  Most likely it's a bad CMC or CSC if you're not getting any pedal pressure.

Saw this today in a friends 2011 GMC 2500 Pickup... Compared to the Ford interior of a similar truck the difference is night and day.

It's kinda sad that Chevy does a lot of shit talking in their commercials (or at least did in the past) about other manufacturers, but their cars are still cheaply built.  At least one of the big 3 seems to be stepping up their game.  Too bad Chevy and Chrysler haven't figured out why their cars suck still.

I think the big three lost momentum when they tried to enter the same turf as the imports. Build what you good at. The 5.0 and straight six were great engines then they moved to a 4.6 V8, and 4 cyl shit. It's mostly the 4 cyl cars that gave for a bad name. Trucks and Mustangs have always done pretty damn well

I think they started to decline when they realized that it was better to make cars that were disposable instead of making them reliable.  IMHO, they got too greedy and made their cars too shitty to last longer than 5 years.

Well, just got amazing news! My good friend who is in the sand box is a T/A, Firebird nut. So we have been messaging back and forth when he gets on the internet and today he threw me out an offer. I cannot refuse it... He has a black 77 hard top Firebird. It is in a shop right now having the engine rebuilt. He had a head gasket go out on him and went ahead and spent about 3k worth of parts on it and it needs to be rebuilt, but all the parts are there. It just needs to be transported from cookeville TN to my house and I can handle the rest. I cant tell you guys the price on here, some may get mad.

I would stay away from the Volvo.  I had a 2004.5 Volvo S40 T5 AWD w/ 6 Speed.  Left me stranded 3 times, dealer rates were eye popping.  Granted, it was a first year release car, with plenty of bugs.  Lesson learned, never buy a vehicle the first year it comes out.

My buddy just picked up an '07 S40 T5 AWD 6MT.  It had 27k on the ticker and needed a new front end (all cosmetic, no frame damage)  Picked it up for 8K! Put 3 or 4k into it and now its pretty bad ass, he got a badgless grill it looks pretty cool.  So he got an '07 T5 6MT with under 30k for under $12k... crazy shit right there.

I was going to say that this is the 73rd time you've thought about getting "another" Accord.  I'd say make a decision and stick with it.  I wouldn't expect the car you drive to bring you happiness.  I haven't driven my car in 3 months, but get to walk past it every day in a dismantled state as I get into my 2007 Chevy Uplander.  Yet, I'm still content.  Just not with the Uplander.  ;D

It’s a cool blue metallic color, now sure how I feel about that color. Definitely don’t see many of those around. I’m moreso leaning towards it because of the low miles and certification. Maybe with 17s and a lip it would look better.

Having an automatic car is actually pretty nice..  Plus you can get paddle shifters!

I'm sorry... I am a FIRM believer that Paddles do not belong on anything with less than 450 hp.  Especially not a 200 hp GTI or TSX (I'm fair)

Unless it's an underpowered automatic.  Then it sucks.

Some cars that have less than 450hp and paddle shifters are still fun to drive..

You won't like it Jer.  They're small cars and not that comfortable.  You can build the shit out of them though.

Well, I wouldn't say that.  A Type S has a much better motor when compared to the K20A3 found in the EP3.  Realistically, it's not exactly the practical car he wants for the family or the sports car he wants for his mid life crisis.

I looked at a couple RSX type S's between my Accords. I hated the interior and like Tim said it was not very comfortable. But, maybe i was just spoiled with my Accord.
