Title: Dark Display? Have Honda Fix It For Free
Post by: timot_one on February 06, 2009, 10:31:23 PM
So, I did a little bit of research, because I know a few of you have had issues with your display going blank.  I was just searching on google and found this.

http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/cars-truck (http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/cars-truck" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) ... 84-20.html

This is an issue that's recognized by Honda, and they have changed the warranty and are fixing these for free.  Most dealerships will say it's not under warranty and try to charge you from $500 to $1100 to fix this.  DON'T LET THEM TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU!  This is supposed to be fixed by Honda for FREE!

Here's how you get it done:

Call 1-800-999-1009 and mention bulletin #04-027.  They will ask what dealership you're going to take your car to, and have a representative from that dealership call you within 48 hours to set up an appointment.

From my understanding, they replace the PCB that has the LCD on it.  I think there was a manufacturing defect or something.

It went out on my coupe and they changed it for free since it was under 100k miles. Now in my sedan, over 140k. I wonder if they'd still fix it for free? The lights have been out for awhile. Is this something they have to fix, or is it they might fix it under their 'good will' policy?

This happened to me a few months ago. I thought I blew a fuse or something. I downloaded the service bulletin, however since it was written in 04 it only covers 03-04 models. I'm planning on talking to the dealer today, but just wondering if anyone thinks I'll have an issue (since I have an '05). Anyone else had an 05 or later fixed for free?

There going to give you shit like they always do but, if you play your cards right I'd imigine that they would fix it for free.

Hey, does anyone know if this is the same issue happening on the upper display of the stock navi setup. Mine started going in and out as im driving a few weeks back. I thought it was a loose connection from when i had the dash apart a month ago so i took it back apart and nothing was loose. I then realized last night that the overall display is lit up, it is the actual digital read out of the text that is really faint. Im not sure if this is the same issue as the non Navi radio's display. Anyone else with a stock Navi setup having this issue?
