Title: How To: TSX Side Mirror On Coupes
Post by: MyNameIsThien on February 06, 2009, 09:57:59 PM
Parts Required
  • Pair of TSX side mirrors in any color
  • Pair of Accord side mirror(can use the one on the car or buy a spare)

Tools Required:

  • Phillips and flathead screw drivers
  • Dremel or similar cutting tool
  • ratchet or similar with 8mm socket
  • Alot of patience
  • Soldering iron and wire
  • Electrical tape

First we start  by removing the stock mirror and open it apart.

1> Pry out the cover in the picture, it is held in place by clips so gently pull it out

2> After you remove it, this is how its gonna look

3> Disconnect the black connector from the white socket by pressing the clip in the bottom and pulling it away

4> Now remove the 3 bolts with 8mm socket but leave the top left one intact. The Bottom right screw needs to be removed by some pliers or small adjustably wrench cause the ratchet wont reach. From the outside of the car, gently pull out the mirror but dont pull it too hard. Also you will have to free the clips of the socket from the inside.

5> Mirror removed and ready for surgery

6> Remove these screws but be careful not to strip them

7>  Now cut the cable in the middle and remove the bracket from the mirror housing

8> Hold the assembly like shown and from one corner lift up the mirror and pry it out from the clip holding it and remove the mirror

9> Pop the silver tabs in the bottom to remove the plastic cover on the back that matches to the color of your car and completely remove the cover

10> Remove the 3 screws and one in the bottom of the base to remove the motor and motor bracket from the shell

11> Everything apart but dont throw anything away. Remove the white motor from the metal bracket.

12> Do the same on the TSX's mirror but keep track of the parts.

13> Accord's bracket(left) Vs the TSX(right). You need to cut the Accord's bracket and modify it to fit the TSX shell.

so is there any modifications to hook up the tsx mirrors on the accord sedan? or is it as simple as unplugging the wires and bolting up the tsx mirrors?

...
You will have to drill another hole due to different mounting bolts on the tsx, then you will have to run the led wires to your turn signals. There are diys on mounting tsx mirrors to sedans, this one is for the coupe.

wouldn't the tl mirrors fit on the coupe? i remember reading somewhere that the bases for the coupe and the tl were the same.

Negative, you will need to modify the bae of the tl mirrors. You have to pm thien on this one as he has done them on his coupe.

The 05 Hybrid mirrors will bolt up with no modifications. The wiring will require modifications though.

what modifications need to be done to the wiring, i would assume the same as what needs to be done with the tsx mirrors

You can use the first gen TSX mirrors on your sedan. If you're interested in purchasing a set, I have some in satin silver. PM me if you're interested.
