Well guys, after alot of thought and a year of ownership, I've decided to sell my car.  Like Thien, we are needing something bigger. Having only one car with four doors is becoming tough and with another child on the way it will be even thougher down the road. I will be sad to see her go but considering how clean it is I shouldnt have a hard time selling her *knockonwood*.  The sedan will be paid off soon and selling the coupe will really help in the money department.  I might have some extra $$$ to play with, hopefully will be able to mod again.

I will ultimately take over my wifes Accord (again). If I can find another 7th gen sedan for under $10k I'll go for it, I just hate paying a damn car note.

May I suggest an Odyssey.  My 3 kids fit in it nicely and you'll demoralize some civic ricers when you dust em off the line!  Cant beat power doors when you have a child in your arms.  Oh yeah.. the Ody is moddable to  :)

I've thought about that Jason, but the wifey is wanting a car. We might test drive some Ody's see if she likes them first. I'm all about it, get a DVD hooked up and I sit in the back and relax, where do I sign up? I just really don't want to have to pay a big car note. I'm not sure what Odyssey's are running. Will have to do some research.

Excluding the "soccer mom driving a minivan" mentality, there is no downside.  Cargo space galore with a super smooth ride to boot.  To your point, I can remember many trips when the wifey was driving and i was watching Seinfeld in the second row captains chairs, hehehe.  Best seat in the house.

How are those Grids doing for you?

Grids are excellent, that is if Firestone can balance the tires properly, I've had some bad luck with this store. They rebalanced my tires and now my steering wheel is slanted to one side lol

Ummm, balance issue doesn't cause slanted steering wheel. You need an alignment. One side of is positive and the other is negative.

This all happened before I lowered my car, going to take it in tomorrow for alignment and rebalancing of the grids

Yeah, you need to do an alignment whenever you do any type of steering and suspension upgrades like springs, coilovers, and camber kits.

I just noticed that when I go over bumps at very low speed my rear is creaking pretty loud. I assume the spring is rubbing against the top hat? Any fixes for this issue?

I can jump up and down on the trunk and I can't get any noise at all from the springs.

I'm actually getting a creaking/squeaking sound from the rear, too, but I think it's the rubber bushings from my rear anti-sway bar. It only happens when turning, too. I'm not sure.

I think I might have found an answer to my question.


I might not have torqued down the top hex nut enough on the rears, which would cause the coil to move and thats when I hear the infamous 'clack'...

Good call on the swaybar endlinks.

Use some teflon tape on the swaybar and then cup the rubber bushing.  
Lube tends to dry out and if you use the wrong kind, it may eat away your bushing.

Well after the drop and intake I'll be content for a little while. While I pay this stuff off I want to do some relativly cheap cosmetic upgrades like paint matching some parts.

What would you guys reccommend?

I noticed my the paint on part of my roof is fading, maybe the size of a quarter dollar. What can I do to slow down this process?

I think all you can do for the paint is pray. When I first got my car it had about a dime sized mark on the hood. It then evolved into some terrible paint damage all over my hood. Honda will basically tell you to go fuck yourself if you go to them about it. I went to a professional to do all they could to slow the process but it didn't really do anything, I'm not sure what all thy did.  All Honda did was offer me a 11,000 dollar paint job.  It took about a year to get really bad. It has plateued for now, *knockonwood*.

That sucks bill. I never noticed it before bc it's on the back of the roof, now that its lower I can see it LOL. I could always put on a CF layer and fo get about it ftw!

Lots of waxing can slow down the "peeling."  What about using vinyl to over the roof?  It should cut down the sun exposure.

What kind of car are you thinking for the wifey?

Not too sure, I'm not a big SUV person and def not a minivan person. I'll reserach and pick the top 5 that I can find and let her decide which one she likes. Leaning towards CR-V but I would like to see her in something bigger. Just thinking of mpgs is giving me heartburn.

Try looking at some 1st gen Lexus RX300s. They are a little bigger than the CRV but still get decent gas milage and are pretty refined. Its the 1999-2003 years. We have one and it is still very comfortable. Its not as comfortable as the RX350 but that is pretty obvious. Just a suggestion.

If I could find an individual selling a Pilot, I'd be all over it. I'll be buying private party from now on. Paying a few extra grand at the dealer is not an option, especially when it comes time to sell, I'll be in the hole like I was with my car. Luckily I got close enough to what I wanted for it.

The worst part is that my parents would never let me do this. Sometimes I fucking hate being dependent on them. Once I get out of college I'll be able to stand on my own two feet and make my own choices. This is pretty much how my family is. I guess I can talk about this here. As you all know I just got another 7th gen, 3 days after purchase the trans started shifted abruptly (or moreso than it should) from first to second. I hear a friend of mine had this same issue at the same miles, new trans and two yrs later he’s still going strong. He’s at 142k now and said it was an electronic issue. I might try and see if they can fix it with a new trans and just keep it. That’s where my mindset is right now. It’s all under warranty, so why not.

That would Definitely be the route that I would take.  Take it to the dealer and tell them you want a new one.  Is it a honda warranty or a warranty from the ford dealership you purchased it from?  I guess either way it wouldn't matter, they still owe you a new tranny if there's something wrong with it.

I'm at 42k miles and powertrain goes to 60k from Honda.

Take it to Honda.  Let them give you a new one.  According to that kid Evolved or whatever, those things are cheap as hell.  LoL

Do yourself the favor and don't mod it.  If you are going to mod it, keep it extremely simple.  Don't go crazy.

After talking to my financial advisor (my dad). Its probably a good idea to get something new (with less issues) and a bumper to bumper warranty that I'm able to at least use for a few yrs. We'll see what Honda says is wrong with the car, just want to wipe my hands clean of it, at long as I can break even I dont give a flying fuck.

Just gt.a call from honda...they say the trans is fine after driving 24 miles the tech couldn't get the trans to do what it was doing for me, durty fluid tho, bullshit....

Jer, sometimes what I do is I drive the car with the Tech inside.  See if they're willing to do that.  Maybe the tech doesn't drive the way you do and hence the reason why they "couldn't recreate" the issue.  They're looking for ways to not do work that's under warranty.

Also, after 43K miles, you fluid is going to be dirty one way or the other. 

That’s what I did at the other Honda store (that's owned by Ford) and they felt it. When I go pick it up I'll tell the tech to ride with me, I'm not paying $90 fucking dollars for this fucker to ride in my car 25 fucking miles, fuck that shit. I know it's only one instance, but I hold grudges and honestly will probably never buy another Honda product.

So aparantely the warranty on the new trans being put in is only good to 60k, aka powertrain warranty. So I have less than a year and 17k miles. Very concerned about keeping it past the PT warranty as I don’t want to pay for a new or fixed transmission out of my pocket. I want no part of that animal. So I've gotten online and looked around and all I'm seeing is domestic POS cars for sale.. ???

That's part of the risk of buying used cars.  That's why I tend to avoid them.  Good luck with the search Jer.

Acura has a deal going on, $0 due at signing/$0 everything really. for the 2011 TSX Wagon - $360 a month for 36 months. Leasing might be the way to go.

I disagree. It works for alot of people that lack the skill to maintain a car. Generally in a good lease you can get all the maintenance taken care of and you get a new car every few years. For someone that is sound financially and doesn't mind a car payment its not a bad option. It's tough for guys like us like to work on and modify our cars to understand but, for a large part of the population this is the perfect scenario.

A large part of the population also drives past the 10k a year mark and get screwed. That's why my mom stopped leasing with her latest car and bought the Accord coupe rather than leasing. She ended up going over her miles by about 8-10k and that was with going to work and back plus a few of the usual errands. Leasing is one hell of a restriction to people. My mom got to the point that she didn't want to drive her car anymore just so she wouldn't accrue any more miles.

After giving this some thought and talking with other friends. A cheap ($10k<) car might not be the way to go, sure its cheaper but what about maintaining it. That will ultimately cost more. I’m toying with the idea of getting a CPO TL - $23-$25k or a type-s for $26k (bwhwhahaha). Srsly though, it would be about $100 more a month but with bumper to bumper going out to 62k+ miles this might be a better option, if I keep it that is.
