Richie's J pipe an Tls cams? The cams may come if you upgrade past the J30 though. Cant remember.

Title: Re: Gen7 J30 Bolt On list
Post by: Mike on February 18, 2009, 01:02:44 PM
I'd rather only list part's from manifactures. I know Richie's J pipe is a common mod but, I'd like to stay off that road.

Title: Re: Gen7 J30 Bolt On list
Post by: Mike on February 18, 2009, 01:03:27 PM
Also I think that TL-S Cams go a little beyond what I'd put on a bolt on list. What does everyone else think?

Title: Re: Gen7 J30 Bolt On list
Post by: Blackhawk on February 18, 2009, 01:42:48 PM
I agree with Mike. The term "bolt-on" implies exactly that. There shouldn't be any excessive tear-down or dismantling of any mechanical apparatus to make the upgrade. Removing an intake manifold, valve, cover, and tearing down a valvetrain unit is beyond "bolt-on".

I beg to differ.  Removing an intake manifold or a valve cover is something that I would consider a bolt on mod.  I consider my TSX IM a bolt on mod.  I do think that doing any valvetrain mods is beyond bolt-on status.  Would lambo doors be considered a bolt on mod JT?

I was reffering to all of the above in red, not just the removal of the intake manifold alone  ;)

I believe Lambo doors are bolt on lol

Well, that's a different story.  The stuff in red is just the basic tear down to get to the nitty gritty.

IMO- The definition of bolt-on is exactly that, it is Bolt-on, so the line IMO between a bolt-on and a non-bolt-on would be machining ,fabrication, welding, or secondary tuning requried.

Title: Re: Gen7 J30 Bolt On list
Post by: AV6NHBP6SPD on February 25, 2009, 12:27:43 PM
so pullies is not bolt on?

Title: Re: Gen7 J30 Bolt On list
Post by: NVA-AV6 on February 25, 2009, 02:17:25 PM
Do you bolt them on without having to do any machining or fab work, yes, so they would be bolt on....

Do you consider cams bolt ons Paul?

As long as there is no machining involved, in other words if you are doing lets say a TL-S cam swap on a V6 where you do not need to mess with the springs or remove the head(s), yeah, that is a bolt on. Now if you were putting in say Skunk stage 2 or 3 cams into a I4 where you really need to upgrade the springs as well and should actually pull the head to do so and then of course while you at it get the valves re-seated, then no.

The J-pipe should be on the list if cat-back exhausts are on there.  Just had one installed on Gen's coupe and it must be one of the best bangs for the buck.

What do you mean when you say go past J30?  Do you mean displacement?

Title: Re: Gen7 J30 Bolt On list
Post by: Mike on March 11, 2009, 08:55:17 AM
My thought is that the J pipe is a custom part. But if you want it list under "Riches J-Pipe" I'll add it.

Title: Re: Gen7 J30 Bolt On list
Post by: MyNameIsThien on March 11, 2009, 11:14:28 PM
The It may by a custom part, but it is a bolt on part. OBX makes the same J-pipe if you would like to add that on.

yes, displacement wise. Paul can turn a J30 to a J33-J37, depending on the size of your budget.

Ryan I'm pretty sure the J30 block can only be turned into the J33, and J34, and the block needs to be changed beyond that.

Its a production piece its RV6P J-pipe and test pipe, I think he has sold over 50 units to date.  Also the OBX unit doesn't fit well, or at all in some cases.  I consider the Rv6-P J-pipe and test pipe a bolt on considering you literally have to remove 12 bolts, lol.  Also IMHO its the best bang for your buck mod out there. ($345 shipped, added gobs of mid range TQ and HP, better than the CAI for around the same price.

You are both right, yes you need to eaither resleeve or replace the block to do J35/J36/J37, but a brand new block is only $600 from acura.

Read this thread first before you start listening to "some guy" about under drive pulleys.  It's in the K Series section, but you can get a lot out of it.  Also, there are 2 types of pulleys you can get for the J30, under drive and OEM diameter.

This is to Solve all UR pulley ? and harmonic dampener (http://elitecm.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=464)

Richie has sold hundreds now. He just has multiple threads on this. I have wanted to get one ever since I saw the dyno sheet on it, but I can't spend the money on it. Times are tough.

Good list so far, Mike. Definitely include products like this because we want to make sure the info is out there for everyone. Your list could potentially stop people from creating 20 fking threads asking the same question, like on other forums.

Are there any short ram intakes for the 7th generation J30?

The only ones I've been able to really find so far are:

Weapon R SRI - Secret Weapon 301-147-101 (03-05, maybe 06-07 also?)
Weapon R SRI - Dragon 801-147-101 (03 and up)

Through searching I've found that Typhoon, Weapon R and H&N make SRI's for the 7th gen J30 and that AEM and Injen make a CAI that can be converted to an SRI?

Now if I can just figure out how to keep the ECU happy while disableing the DBW system....so I can pass emissions right  ;) ;D

That looks kinda crazy.  What size are those TB's?

Is there any way to run dual DBW TB's?

Looking into it, but the controller can not run two servo systems.

Post by: timot_one on August 14, 2012, 07:18:52 PM
That would be pretty cool.  Would one servo be able to move both tb plates?

Possibly........

....a rod going from on tb to the other (master and slave)? As long as the servor has enough power with the added friction and weight.

Yup, that is what I will be trying, there goes $400 in throttle bodies, $80 for a industrial 0 backlash shaft coupler, about $300 in raw aluminum and $200 in welding supplies, not to mention the hours to make another mani........

If only someone you know had access to a Solid Works workstation lol. I wish i had the time. It would save you, at a minimum, some material cost.

Actually, I have brief knowledge in Solidworks. I could probably design some things given enough time to learn the program better. I have full access to the software on campus in the Engineering building. UCF ftw!

Someone told me about this. I would totally be interested in the TB. Perhaps that will help us make the ~300whp mark on our J30's?! Since a few guys on V6P are making 270ish WHP with no tune and don't have all bolt-ons...!

Title: Re: Gen7 J30 Bolt On list
Post by: NVA-AV6 on August 15, 2012, 06:03:19 AM
Yeah, 270whp on a J30 wih just bolt ons, umm, uhh, BS. It is amazing what you can do with Dyno numbers with just a mouse click.

Dynos are really only a tool to measure gains from modifications and tuning. All Dynos are NOT equal even when calibrated.

Yes I know but the graphs were posted. I'll be looking to get mine dynoed as soon as I get every bolt on and tune. Just have mdx spacer, 3.7 manifold + bored tb + 4" Cai left and I'll be set.

Sonnick on v6p said he gained 15 whp and 6 wtq (iirc) from the TL 3.7 IM and TB... Def sounds like nice gains and worth considering.

(info from my buddy who talks to him on mk6gti... Weird... I know haha)

EDIT:
Just looked them up, first site I found:

J37 IM 17160-RK2-A00 - $220 (not too bad)

J37 TB 16400-RKG-A01 - $490 (what the fucking fuck????)

You also forgot the top cover for that J37 mani which is a few hundred $ as well, your AV6 top cover will not fit right.........

I might be wrong but the 08-12 Accord V6 top plate should fit. If not at least it's an Acura top plate for the Acura manifold.

Ahem.  Whether or not the 270 SAE Corrected seems a little high is of little concern to me. I used this dyno to show the gains over my previous setup, which were awesome. However, a built 3.5 put down 297/305 on this exact dyno, and MikeyMike's J35 S/C 6G Accord @7psi tuned on the FIC put down 325whp.

Don't worry, when I do more pulls after the 3.5" CAI/timing belt/plugs, etc I will search for the lowest reading dyno I can find  ::)

The dyno showing my gains is below. Totally worth it for the IM/TB swap. I got the TB maxbored and the manifold gasket matched to my polished runners. Full mod list is as shown:

AEM V1 CAI
3.7 IM & TB/Polished runners
PCDs/Custom Jpipe & merge collector/3" catback
UR Pulley

Using a Dyno as you are, showing the gains from the mods you put on your car is perfect, starting with a base line and whowing the progression is perfect use. It's the people who just slap up a dyno graph saying look how great I am, weather or not the numbers have any basis in reality or not. Hell I know shops that purposely increase thier numbers just to make thier customers feel as though thier shop has magical powers....

Title: Re: Gen7 J30 Bolt On list
Post by: 3.Slow6MT on August 24, 2012, 12:47:25 PM
I agree, some shops do that. I can't help but think the numbers are on par though. I understand 270 seems high, but when a 3.5 on AEM EMS is putting down 297/305 and the S/C 3.5 on the FIC is putting down 325.....it doesn't seem far off. Either way I want to dyno on a Mustang to see the difference. I'd assume 245ish after my 3.5" CAI. I'm fine with that, it's more sleeper  :)

For anyone wanting to do the 3.7 TL intake manifold/TB swap. Mike, here are the part #s.

17160-RK2-A00 - Intake manifold
17140-RK1-A01 - Top plate (w/butterflies) <- 6MT ONLY
16400-RKG-A01 - TL Throttle Body (More $$)
16400-RYE-A11 - ZDX Throttle Body (Less $$)
16176-RYE-A10 - Throttle Body gasket
92900-08050-3B - Throttle Body bolts (x2)
17105-RCJ-A01 - Intake Manifold gasket

Below is a link to the ZDX throttle body and misc items. If you buy the ZDX throttle body you will need the 2 bolts #7 shown below rather than the part numbers above, which are for the TL throttle body. Gaskets are identical.

What would be the difference between the 3.7L IM from the MDX/ZDX and the TL?  The MDX is about $60 cheaper for the IM and top plate.
