Title: Body shop question, about broken/used parts Post by: skizot on May 11, 2009, 11:14:53 PM Does anyone know what a body shop does with the bad parts they pull of a car they are repairing? For instance, if I have the front bumper of my car replaced because it was damaged in an accident and insurance is paying, will they give me the old, broken parts if I request them?

Here in MI, its state law that they have to return parts to you that you want back unless they are too big or toxic (I think).

I would recommend that you talk to the body shop and let them know that you want your old parts so they are not thrown away or kept for additional profit.
