Okay guys. This thread has reached a certain evolution, so I am re-writing he title topic and OP body so that everyone is on the same page. This thread originally started as me gathering a compilation of opinions on a Wii console since I was in the the market to buy one. Now that I am a happy Wii owner for 3 months, this thread is now strictly the official Wii enthusiast's thread. All Wii enthusiasts are welcomed to contribute their reviews on the latest games or simply just share useful information such as online friend codes, game tips, etc. This OP will be updated regularly on the hottest topics including new game releases, strategies on games, codes, and cheats, among others. Stay tuned to this OP and the latest posts!

Me and DV8mAn (Jason) are putting together a team of 6 guys here on ECM to form the official The Conduit "ECM Clan". All we need is 6 guys to form a team. So far it's me, Jason, and Nwinnie. Buy it! The Wii is freakin awesome especially for when you have people over. It's got everything and just about every game you play is a work out and of course there's the Wii Fit which is perfect for working out at home. It's the only game system I know of that EVERYBODY can enjoy including older folks like my grandparents. LOL!!!

I love the Wii everytime i go to my friends place down in philly we play. The Wii sports is the best, we play every game on it, golf/boxing/baseball/tennis/bowling. Its the most fun ive had excersing ever. I dont even play the conventional games on it. Id much rather play the sports related or the mario party games. There the best, and the more people the better

Dude buy it. I had my Grandparent's over last year on easter and even they were having a blast with it. It has the best assortment of "party games"

Yeah so far I played all the Wii sports including Baseball, Golf, Bowling, Boxing, and Tennis. I'm telling you I had a blast and a pretty good workout out of it lol.

They even have games like Beer Pong! The ultimate system, I have to admit at first I wasnt on board with the Wii but after playing it at my parents house and my friends house I was hooked.  So Ashley and I got one for Christmas. I still play the Ps3 more but the Wii is definitely no slouch.

Another reason to own The Wii is if you ever feel Nostalgic, I believe most of us here are old enough to remember playing 8 bit Nintendo and all those other systems that you can download in the Nintendo store. The games are exact replicas of how we all grew up to remember playing video games, not rehashed with modern graphics and sound.

yea, the wii is awesome.  i dont own any other systems (aside from a PS2 thats sitting in a closet) and i love the wii.  the sports games are pretty much the most fun and i still break a sweat boxing. and Mario Kart is pretty much the greatest thing ever

plus, like Ryann just pointed out, you can buy old school 8 bit games for the original NES, Sega, SuperNintendo, N64 and stuff.  For like $8 i downloaded the original Contra, Rad Racer and 007.  It rules.

I've had it for like 3 weeks but have been too fucking busy to play it yet.  It looks cool as hell though!

Yeah the wii is pretty badass. I have Super Smash Brothers, Super Mario Galaxy, and Guitar Hero for it. But after I beat all of those games I stopped playing it. It's really awesome at first, but it loses its cool factor after a while because the graphics are limited.

If you're a big gamer and want a system with a hard drive and amazing graphics, go with either a Xbox 360 or a PS3.

get Marval Alliance.... you can pick from like 20-25 marvel characters and its a fighting / rpg game

funny thing is... the sword or weapon your character has in his/her hand reacts perfectly with how you move the Wii controller...

literally you can swing that thing 400000 miles per hour and the characters arm motion perfectly mimics yours haha
its more funny to see in person but you and 3 other friends will be swinging yur arms like a MOFO for hours

LMAO Just picked it up guys! I got the Wii (3rd gen) with 2 controllers and jackets, 2 nunchuck adaptors, Wii sports inside, and Wii Play. Can't wait to play it tonight. The guy that had it never even opened the box lol.

I saw a commercial last night for a remake of Punch Out that should be amazing!

I hope they bring a Mario Golf to the Wii as well, that game was a blast on GC. Yeah Mario kart is on my list of must-haves!

Robyn has been playing it since we got it.  It came with Wii sports and we also got Wii fit.  I've just been so preoccupied with getting everything lined up with my car so I can get a tune before the dyno meet.

Picked up Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition and cannot put it down. I mastered the title for GC and PS2 but this version kicks all their asses! I'm looking forward to Call Of Duty: World At War with "Wii Speak" and Wi-Fi.

Another vote for Wii. We've had ours for about 4-5 months and still play almost daily. Gets my old ass off of the couch! Bowled 267 recently.......

RE4 you kill zombies but I think one of the more popular zombie games on the Wii is House of the Dead and you get to use the gun.  Both are awesome though.

The RE series is about zombies normally but RE4 has a different twist in which a cult group in western Europe captures the president's daughter and your mission is to rescue her. You get to kill a bunch of psycopath plaga-infested dudes with an array of cool weapons too. I use the standard nunchuk setup for this game



I need to get the shootem up version which is RE: The Umbrella Chronicles. it's an Area51 style game where you just blast zombies and it rehashes a lot of the locations in the RE series :).

I've been doing some research on a game called "The Conduit" due to come out exclusively for the Wii on June 23rd. Guys, I shit you not... but this might be the long expected beginning of some real hardcore gaming on the Wii. Not going to say anymore, just check out the trailer:

I haven't played in awhile. I've unlocked Mirror Mode on Mario Kart. I have to learn to drive these tracks basically fkn backwards now lol I suck lol

I'm thinking about saving up and getting Guitar Hero II.....anyone done this yet?

Mario kart kicks my ass or I'm just not used to the controls yet. I've been able to unlock most tracks but getting star rankings is quite a challenge. I took a break from Mario Kart and now beating Super Mario Galaxy. I heard you can unlock more characters with a SMG save file on the Wii.

I've actually gotten two stars a few times (you have to win every race with the set of races) 60 Points FTW!! Basically you unlock two things instead of one. But you need to get a gold trophy to unlock more. Basically you have to whoop marios ass to beat the game....I thought I beat it then damn mirror mode showed up.

You should be able to get online via wi-fi on the wii once you have a router. I don't recall using a usb wireless adaptor to get connected.

So basically 60 points in every cup get's you two stars? How do you get 3 stars then? I used to kick double dash's ass on the Gamecube but I need to play this one more to get used to it.



Yeah it's called Ra-Link technology. It's a USB adaptor that has a chipset for a secondary function as a soft access point making your computer a wireless router. Nintendo used to sell an accessory of the like but it soon got discontinued after router companies complained enough. There are still generic versions on eBay. I got mine just have to install it. What's yall's gamer codes (if you need one). Shoot it to me on PM.

Never gotten 3 stars before, not sure if that's possible.

I suggest you consider port forwarding you wireless router for the Wii.  It will help with the lag you will certainly experience in COD:WAW and Conduit to a lesser extent.
 
Surprised no COD posts yet.  I'm addicted to that game, 7th prestige!  I play on Team Speak with a bunch of older gents from around the world.  Saturday night is bottoms up night, every drinks after a win!

I'll pipe in just to say I have no idea.........but would like to know as well!  

I'm on and off addicted to COD but on the PS3. For instance last week on my day off I was playing for like 4 hours straight.

suggest you COD on PC and PS3 guys play the wii version with an open mind....  fewer maps, only 4v4 online, graphics arent as good, cant patch the glitch spots.   BUT, the game play with the wiimote makes it all worth it.

Blackhawk-  think mario cart uses the friend code system.  Find yours and exchange with those you want to add.  after you each enter the friend code you can play together.  Its sorta like the BB pin code system.  Dont forget to port forward your Wii!!

I'll remember the port forward thing. What exactly does it do? is it an option I have to select on my router interface?  Thanks man...

Port forwarding reduces lag on your end by "fast tracking" the connection thru your wireless router.  Google it for specifics, there are websites that walk you thru the steps.  Not that hard.  In layman's terms, you give your wii a static IP address to your router and open the ports a particular game uses.  By doing this, you bypass the router's internal firewall etc and speed up the connection.  Only do this with your wii, it is not safe to port forward a computer.

I'm in the process of loading all my wii games on an external hard drive so I dont have to change the disks out.  cant wait till that's done!

Dont know about mario cart (I dont have the game yet), but COD is not wii speak capable.  Gotta use skype or teamspeak to talk.  I play cod with a bunch of guys on teamspeak.  The ability to talk while playing makes it so much more fun.

^ +1 When I played COD on the PC  we used teamspeak or the like. So much more fun and can sneak up on the enemy better, esp knowing where your guys are at.


I would assume you have the rifle attachment for the remote? I might go looking around for COD later this week. I've been wanting to play it for wii.

I had the Wii Zapper for 2 days and returned it.  The setup was awkward with the nunchuck in the back and the controls weren't that great.  If you convert from pc to wii, expect great differences on COD.  No DLCs, so treyarch cant patch the glitches, only 8 maps (dome, asylum, cliffside, makin, castle, upheaval, courtyard, hangar), no zombie mode.

Is Wii Speak a blue tooth ear piece and the system has internal receiver? What is teamspeak?

wii speak is like speakerphone type system.  everyone in the room hears what's coming thru.  heard they MAY introduce a headset add on, not sure.  Teamspeak is a computer program.  load it up, setup a server, publish the address and everyone can chat at once.  Need to have a comp close by to plug the headset into unless you have a bluetooth capable computer.  Clear as mud?

I heard The Conduit is going to have some visuals and controls that will rival 360 and PS3 games for a long time. It's pretty impressive what High Voltage Software has put together given the graphical limitations of the Wii.

Ahh, a fresh copy of The Conduit is in hand!  The journey begins tonight.  I will post my fc after I get the game online.

Jason, I think we should beat campaign on our own just to get the hang of it. Gimme your thoughts, man.

Here's my thoughts:  I will use campaign to adjust controls and learn the weapons, but that's about it.  The online maps do not carry over from the campaign, so there's nothing to gain there.  I'm used to FPS games, so after a short transition phase i will be good to go.  Lastly, there's no way I have the self control to wait that long to play online.  However, I've heard it only takes around 8-10 hrs of gameplay to beat the campaign, that does not include the time necessary to unlock all the secrets within campaign mode.

I've heard they are limiting your online name to 8 characters.  If that is true, I will be OFC-DV8.  If it's untrue, you see me as either OFC-DV8mAn or OFC-YingLing.

True, this is a revolutionary FPS since the controls are real-time point & shoot via motion control versus dual analog. I think we'll be alright.

I retract my previous statement.  Campaign is sweet!!!!  Graphics are excellent for the wii, and the game is very in depth.  lots of unlockables!  I will post my fc later this evening after I go online with it.

I think the game is great.   Just need to get used to the online play.  I'm accustom to one hit kills, not 45 hit kills.   I don't think you saw glitcher, that sounds like lag cause I had guys jumping arond like crickets which added to my frustration that I couldn't hit shit!  Love all the game modes.   Btw, did you notice I jumped in you FFA?

Nah man I was trying to jump into yours but didn't see ya. Were you a killing machine on there? I was always on the left column in kills, just close to the bottom lol. I saw guys just gliding across the screen at fast speeds man. One guy took two of my charged shots to the face and he still killed me I was like GOT DAYUM LMAO.

I beat campaign last night.  Got some extra cheat goodies, dont know if they carry over to multiplayer.  The last 2 levels are hard!  ends in a cliff hangar setting the stage for TCon 2...

Wii speak is a speaker-phone design in which you hear your teamates through the speakers of your TV audio system, and it picks up your voice through a microphone that muffles out the game noise. I heard it works pretty well. Slipkord and Nwinnie you guys need to get TC and Wii speak like yesterday. Me and Jason are getting Wii speak when you guys get it. 4-some oh yeah!

And yeah Nwinnie you can adjust sensitivity and all that stuff from your Wii menu or game menu.

And yeah slipkord, no gun. Just use the Wiimote, much better!

I'm going to have to steal the wii from the girl friends house and buy this game you all speak of!

you kept kickin my ass in the streets level.... thats a HARD level to do team objective... i think it was 1-0 DAMN BLUE TEAM !

In my opinion the Pentagon is the hardest level to do ASE captures. The distance and confined areas are almost always hosting 1 on 1 grenade showdowns till somebody dies, then your health is so low that the next cheap splash from a MP5K kills you. My favorite level for XP level-up is the Sanctum because once you get the captures going, you can just have a guy from your team at the other end waiting for it to re-appear and chain together captures. It still get's challenging sometimes though. I get my ass handed to me on kills because I am always going straight for that damn ASE

It seemed like what would be a training or practice level since it had meter markers for practicing long jumps and measuring timing for rocket shots and ranges for most weapons. All in all a very cool leverl. my favorite one was the modified Sanctum cause I was able to learn my own glitch and get up on the balcony for teh uber sniperness LOL

Damn last night was awesome and me and Nick PWNED the house. Guys you HAVE to try out ASE Football. It's accessed through the free for all menu but we still end up playing like teams since we were on the BB ST headset. There are a lot of other cool modes which we haven't tested yet like "Last Man Standing" and "Bounty Hunter". ASE Football is definitely the funnest game I have played on TCon online as of yet. Another piece of script for your movie, Jason! Specially since you ain't playin no mo lol.

well u can get both... one without wmp, or one with.... id reccomend getting the wmp

well wii isnt known for its graphics, but all in all it is pretty gnarly.... but you can make your own character to look like yourself, also u can tune your clubs for maximum distance, maximum roll, or maximum accuracy, its pretty darn good.

I have TW09 and rule that game.  Think I'll aquire TW2010.

wii was a litter disappointing on the new 47" tv...but with some tweeks the graphics are better than expected

when i started the wii on the new tv it was in a 4:3 ratio.... so i had to pop it out into full picture mode to use the whole screen

then it was really dark... had to change my viewing options to GAME mode.... made it alot brighter and brought out the colors alot more

prolly was just cause the whole wii system was unhooked and unplugged for the tv install.... just had to reset some options

Last I looked the internet channel is now free.

The internet channel on Wii is now free as pointed out above. The wireless keyboard works just fine but mine was not plug & play as 100% of owners said it was. I had to fuck with it for quite a while to get it to work but it does now so I'm pleased. With the opera browser it is restricted to simple things like text but that's fine with me. It's kinda cool to read your E-mail (and respond) on the big screen. The #1 controller is the mouse but I have no problem with that as far as clicking on whatever I want to bring up. Like I said it's kinda like Web TV on steroids but it's still cool for thirty bucks. Cool toy.

I beat campaign last night in "Advanced" difficulty setting which seems to be like a medium difficulty. Got online for a few minutes to see what it was like and I was like 1 for 3 so I need more practice. So far an amazing game!!! How you guys liking it?

Modern Warfare 2 on the big boy consoles is amazing as well... You can't go wrong with the COD franchise in gereral.

If I got a "big boy" console, it'd only be a PS3.  No red ring of death and online is free (i think).

1. PS 3's have plenty off issues, and are only have a 1 year warranty. Xbox 360 admits they had problems, and extended all warranties to 3 years.

2. No other console offers anything close to Xbox live... It cost a whoping $0.14 per day.

I grew up with PS series, so that's what I know.  My bro in law has had a lot of issues with his 360, but it may be an older one.  However, the $0.14 per day is a deal breaker.  That's $50 a year I could spend on alcohol or hookers!

I loved the campaign but I agree it was too short. I wanna bump up the hardness too. Maybe you can unlock new levels by doing that. On another note, T-Con lives on!!! Played till 5am on Sat night and to my surprise, I've gotten very well. Sure there are still those disappointing moments where you get shot at from I-don't-know-where, but then you realize they were all hackers. After about 2am, I was only playing with legit people, and every shot from my USP45 counted.

Played the GOW3 demo ... its amazing!  Forget COD, get Battlefield: Bad Company 2.  Its better IMO, teamwork always wins in that game.
