Title: t-shirt design
Post by: Icebox on April 29, 2009, 03:34:13 PM
im working on a t-shirt design for forum members.  i would like to get as much feedback as possible before i go get the shirts made up.  below is a basic design of the logo for the shirt.  im curious as to what colors would be appealing to you as well as what size you would wear if you wanted one.  this is not available for purchase yet. this is just a feeler so i can gain info as to what i should have made. im also interested to see if anyone has input to make the design different.

eh, don't like the font. Should be simple and flow better.

Make the M in CM red and change the font but keep it italicized. :D

I like the design in the 1st post...

Well I did a sample tee to see what the outcome wold be. I like it, it's a Hanes tee and the size is acurate. I used the same design as my window decal. The only think is that they did the colors too dark from what I had in mind and submitted. Here is the sample kodak. I don't have one as of yet of the finished product. I can't find my USB cable lolzzz...

Got it done at:
http://www.zazzle.com

Sample kodak designed when I ordered it. But when I recieved it the colors of the words were darker! Other than that  like it!

We should consider some other fonts.  I think it looks a little too tall like that.

I wish I still screen printed.  I would do this for nothing...

Agreed, I also feel it resembles the old , sorry to say this, G7A shirts way too much.

I will try to explain my idea as best I can:

I like the body silhouette, what if we remove the text in the middle all together, and on the sedan side panel  (doors) put the word "Elite" in Italics.  and on the coupe door panel put "CM" in italics.  Centered underneath maybe have the specific squads as an option, I will photoshop it up tomorrow to give you guys a visual of what I'm thinking of, bare with me here.

Nice, but "EliteCM.net" should be centered under the rides atleast. We are wearing the shirts to represent the site we are apart of, this way we can get new members to join. I am down for a new shirt so I will be checking back from time to time to see what we decide.

I agree, i just creating another design that reflected someone else s request.

Kevin's idea was a good one, but I agree with Billy.  It really should say EliteCM.net.  I'm going to mess around with the picture a little bit and try to come up with something when I have some free time.  I'd also like to see the design be as simple as possible.  I think the coupe and sedan profiles with EliteCM.net should be the only thing on the shirt.  Once you start adding squads or screen names the price of these are going to go up.

Post by: Icebox on April 30, 2009, 10:27:04 AM
^agreed, it would be more affordable having a consistent design and ordering in bulk versus ordering a few of many different designs.

Title: Re: t-shirt design
Post by: AV6NHBP6SPD on May 04, 2009, 09:30:53 AM
still resembles g7a.
we need new design, maybe coupe and sedan at the angle and elitecm. net on top

Title: Re: t-shirt design
Post by: Knocturnal84 on May 04, 2009, 10:17:57 PM
the first font looks alright... i like the font and color scheme that AV6NHBP6SPD put on the Decals with the red CM... the Cm part should stay red cause that i will stand out out on whatever color shirt you put it on....

here is my idea place the elitecm.net on the front like CrazyCreashunz did and for extra you can put each squad at the bottom so when we are at meets people can distinguish us

not everyone will understand what the elitecm.net  is so put the coupe and sedan with the accord performance enthusiast club at the back of the shirt

it will cost more but you pay for quality and that does not come cheap

Title: Re: t-shirt design
Post by: Skippy on May 05, 2009, 01:17:54 PM
I think there are some good designs that have been presented but I think we can do better.  I'm hesitant to say this though because I have absolutely no experience in doing stuff like this so feel free to tell me to STFU.  I really like the shirt that Billy came up with on zazzle, VERY NICE! I also like layout of everything on that shirt...beautiful.

I personally think we need a new banner design and that could make the way for shirts and other garb.  Perhaps we should design a new banner before we do shirts.  I believe the old banner was used in haste to get ECM up and running, and now that we're actually established, we can make a new design that better reflects our pride.

Not bad. The only thing that I'm concerned with is if that faded background is gonna be able to show on the t-shirt itself? and some of the fonts are too close to each other like where it says Accord looks like Aooord.

Title: Re: t-shirt design
Post by: timot_one on July 23, 2009, 05:51:32 PM
I like it too.  Steve brings up a good point about practicality.  I'm sure you can talk to a silk screener to get some feedback though.

It's a good idea, but it's not practical.  Making different designs is just going to complicate things.  I would be a lot easier and less expensive to make one design for everyone.

Actually I like the first take that David did, with a different font. Having the words cover up the cars, I dunno, I want to be able to see the image.

I think it looks badass how it is. We could even use it as the site's logo, unless the one that's been in production is almost ready.

Title: Re: t-shirt design

I love the last one. I say the letters need a little more spacing between them but other than that it looks awesome.

Post by: Lemonjelly on July 26, 2009, 01:14:01 AM
Thanks for the kind words, ill play around with the "Accord Performance Enthusiast Club" part and post something up tomorrow.

I thought about mocking up separate shirts for both sedan and coupe, but like Tim said, it would only make it very complicated and probably more expensive.

Nice Steve.  I need to see about getting those made now.  It shouldn't be too complicated.  Just a 2 color/layer silk screen.

Title: Re: t-shirt design
Post by: Lemonjelly on July 27, 2009, 02:32:48 PM
Thanks guys! I'm glad you like it!!!

Tim I will go and talk to a few tee shirt places around me and see what they can do as far as silk screening in that "smoked" accord silhouettes. If we cannot find a place thats able to do it I can always adapt the design.

Any ideas on what colors you would like for the design, shirt etc?

Title: Re: t-shirt design

black shirt, red or green letters and the smoke silhoette would look good

Title: Re: t-shirt design
Post by: b_beau_09 on July 27, 2009, 02:55:48 PM
I know that you guys have already decided on this.. but I think if you made the "E" in elite lower case it would balance the type better.. also, I'm not sure how I feel about the "accord performance..." breaking up the underline of "elitecm.net"

I think if those things were changed it would be a much more solid design.  but I definitely like the idea.. just my .02

hey guys, I mocked up the colors. let me know what you think and if you wanna see anything different?

there is a screen printing place that is run by the same shop who did my suspension that I am going to go and talk to.

http://illegalclothing.com/index.html

before i go and talk to them I want to get a rough count of people who are in to buy this shirt and what size you would need, so I can get an accurate quote.

im gunna run around to a few other places as well and see what we can get for the lowest price.

I am thinking for right now we will just do red to make it easy, but when I am there I will talk to him about the ability to do different colors. That will prob raise the pirce though

They also do hoodies, hats, polos and jerseys there. Ive got a pretty cool idea floating around in my noggin for some hoodies. Ill mock it up and see what people think and I can talk to him about those as well if the interest is there...

The only problem w/ those ideas is that the more places you do printing, the more costly it will be. Price is based on a few things, # of locations of print, and # of colors. A black shirt with 2 colors and 2 different print locations is getting pretty expensive.

As far as my personal opinion..I like the logo before this one better. And I also think that the CM shouldn't be red. And does it have to have the word "Performance"? Not everyone here is obsessed with that lol.

It should be pointed out that this is the design thread.  I think that when Steve is ready to start setting this up, we will create a sign up thread.  I think at this point, he's looking for interest.  I'm definitely interested in the hoodie and t-shirt.  I'd even go for a long sleeve if they have them.  Steve, I think we should talk about this on Friday or Saturday before you sign up for anything.

For the hoodie, I would suggest the http://www.elite.com (http://www.elite.com) that's on the hood on the front chest of the hoodie and the Accord silhouette on the back of the hoodie.

Tim is correct, I just wanted so gauge the interest in both the tee shirt and hoodie before I went ahead and contacted the printer..

I can see we have very strong interest in both which is fantastic. Yesterday was incredibly busy and I wassnt able to pull myself away to call the guy, but I will today and get a rough idea of prices.

just my .02 i think you should still keep the "Accord Performance Enthusiast Club" with the front end of the accord.

I was actually thinking of something like what Don just mentioned.  We'll talk about it either tomorrow if you can come to the shop, or Saturday night.  Whatever you do, don't place any orders before you talk to me though.  I have a hook up on this sorta shit.

nah. front and back needs to have the car or at least full info. couse front has half the info and back has other half. both sides need to have full info

I think the whole thing wording and the car should be on the back with just the website across the front chest or vice versa... plain and simple is the easiest way.

simple and clean is best, plus when somebody sees the front they may wonder what is elitecm? and check out the back.

they see back and gona be like what is it. when they see from front gona think its one of selling websites or whatever. it at least needs pic of accord on front and elitecm.net on back

Title: Re: t-shirt design
Post by: Lemonjelly on July 31, 2009, 09:18:51 AM
Im thinking I would have to agree with David. keep it simple and clean. If we start adding pics all over it, its gunna drive the cost way up and its gunna clutter it up so that you cant even distinguish what it is for.

Title: Re: t-shirt design
Post by: Rich01 on July 31, 2009, 10:44:38 AM
Why not use the same design from the t-shirt on the hooded shirts and have the website on the bicep area of the sleeves. keep it simply so that when we're out it doesn't matter which we are wearing, even at a glance anyone will be able to see that we represent the same group.

Whichever way I'm interested in 1 hooded shirt (XL) and 2 t-shirt (LG)

I think this looks real nice and professional.  I would buy one of these.

Having just the URL on the front with the image and description on back is perfect...anything more is too cluttered.

Title: Re: t-shirt design

i think its fine if its 2 different designs for the shirts and the hoodies. but if itll boost up cost for 2 different designs, then 1 would be fine also. im kind curious what it would look like to have the CM capitalized since thats how you can kind of identify its part of a chassis code right? As far as the back, im sure people will know its an accord club since it does say "accord performance enthusiast club"

there is a screen printing place that is run by the same shop who did my suspension that I am going to go and talk to.

http://illegalclothing.com/index.html

before i go and talk to them I want to get a rough count of people who are in to buy this shirt and what size you would need, so I can get an accurate quote.

im gunna run around to a few other places as well and see what we can get for the lowest price.

This design is money too. Sign me up.

I just talked with 2 different screen printing shops in the area. Left-Tees and Illegal Clothing, about estimates for the shirts and sweatshirts.

They are both in the same ball park as far as pricing is concerned.

Left Tees

Tee Shirt - $7.81
Sweatshirt - $30.00

Illegal Clothing

Tee Shirt - $8.00
Sweatshirt - $26.00

I have worked with Left Tees before and they do great work. If you all would be ok with paying a little more for the sweatshirts I would say we go through them to have everything made.

Both shops said that they would be able to have the first batch of shirts (25 tee shirts and 25 sweatshirts) ready in about 7-10 days after artwork approval.

Let me know what you guys would like to do

we should make a separate thread for orders because this will probably be ongoing for some while.

Also, prices are pretty cheap.  What if we tacked on a "donation" of $1 extra for tee's and $2 for hoodies with the proceeds going to ECM?

Alright Ladies and Gents

Im very sorry about the disappearing act. We are in the middle of our prime recruiting season here at work and all of the schools that we recruit from decided they wanted new recruiting websites. So 10 weeks and 25 sites later I'm back.

Now that everything calming down considerably I will have a bunch of time to dedicate to the shirts. I am going to finalize the artwork this weekend and set up some time to meet with the screen printer next week. I will find out the full range of sizes, final prices at which time ill be creating an official buy thread.

What size are we looking at on the sweatshirt/ tshirts with the designs? The back of the sweatshirts going to cover the whole back, center back, small corner, that sort of thing. Same question applies to the front.

But either way, they look great.

The Sweatshirt
(http://www.limongellidesign.com/rice/ECM-Shirt/sweatsshirt_mock_final.gif)

thats the "layout" for the shirts

I will talk to him about the cost difference between using the same design for the front or 2 different designs for the front, but I suspect that the difference in price is going to be minimal. I had called him for a quote a little while ago, its in one of my previous posts in this thread.

Dizzle, that was one of the things i was thinking as well, im going to talk to him about it and see how we can achieve the closest effect to the fading out. When I talked to him earlier I had mentioned the fading outline of the cars and he didnt raise any red flags about it, so we will see.
