Title: Hydraulics, Guts, and a Good Operator
Post by: Blackhawk on April 28, 2009, 03:36:44 PM
This tower was specifically built to show off the physical power of this excavator.

What ever the operator of this machine gets paid, it's not enough!

It's fake. This is all over the net, but I have yet to find a video...no way they go through all that effort to make that tower and do the stunt and only take pictures...

i deal with excavators on a semi-routine basis... this photo might possibly be real...

at the end of each work day excavators push their bucket down lifting up each side of their tracks so that the can be cleaned
its very possible with a powerful enough machine to lift itself right off the ground....

the part thats hard to believe is how it got past the first lift and was able to make a second lift

interesting pics tho

that operator is a nutcase

When the bucket is changing locations on the tower would the excavator not fall right off because there was nothing to hold it up because the bucket wasn't attached?

It's looks like in between lifts the tracks would be sitting on the angled pieces

very true... yeah it just dont make sense to me haha
at that angle that excavator would flip backwards in a heartbeat
thats a weird bucket too... not understanding the flatness

leaning towards fake...

if you look closely, theres little ledges above where the tracks sit that might act as some sort of counter balance to keep it from flipping over

It has to be fake... There is no way that thing has close to 50/50 weight distribution. There is not enough room for it to pull forward on those little ledges to equalize the weight to prevent it from falling right off. Unless some how it mechanically connects to the tower as the arm is moving locations.
