Title: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: msedacca on May 04, 2008, 01:58:45 PM Well Dad's lease is up on his 750 in June so he asked me what I thought he should get as a new car. I told him immediately, get an R8 or a GT-R. Whether or not he actually gets one of those is probably slight slim, but I'm working hard for the GT-R. If you had a similar choice, what would you advise?

However I dont know the performance or price of an R8 vs the GTR. Dont get me wrong though if I hadnt seen that movie last night I'd be saying GTR all the way.
Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: alpha on May 05, 2008, 01:54:19 AM A GT-R would be quite different from a 750. Does he need the space of a 4 door? If he does, I'd go with the R8.. at least, if it were limited to those two. But if he wants different, doesn't need the space, I'd go with GT-R all the way.
Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: msedacca on May 05, 2008, 09:47:36 AM He needs enough space for our Black Lab and/or a passenger. He said the 750 was too big for him, too much of a gas guzzler, especially with rising gas prices. I'm moved out for college and my sister will be soon, plus my mom has an SUV. I haven't seen Iron Man but I heard its amazing.
Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: alpha on May 05, 2008, 11:48:28 AM The GT-R or R8 wouldn't exactly help with the gas guzzler issue

Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: Moe on May 12, 2008, 04:21:15 PM Both the GT-R and the R8 are nice, if I had a choice I would go with the Audi. I have seen several in person and they are hawt! Either way, who wants a Nissan badge at the back when the car costs $70K + ?
Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: Skippy on May 17, 2008, 09:41:22 PM Sorry, not a fan of either...I hate audis and I hate the way the new GTR looks. Call me a crazy wack job with no life...you're right.
Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: MyNameIsThien on May 17, 2008, 11:13:14 PM I never liked Audis' or Nissans'. A few Nissans catches my eyes, but the rest are total junks IMO. I would try to see other options.
Skippy = crazy wack job with no life, but is the God of K-series in my eyes. Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: msedacca on May 21, 2008, 08:21:03 PM Idk, my dad just seems to keep getting the same car and I want him to change. He's been driving the 7 series since I was born, with a brief stop at the SL500 and a jag. He really wants that sports car type like the SL500 again since I'm gone and my mom has the bigger car. He asked me to do some research since he knew I was in the big into the car world. He hates domestics too.
Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: stirfriedferret on May 23, 2008, 12:37:04 PM You can always have him stick with the 7 series and have him get the Alpina B7...

Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: stirfriedferret on May 30, 2008, 08:00:26 PM Convince him to take the overkill approach and buy the SL63 AMG or the Brabus SL63 AMG.

or dinan supercharged e39 M5 if he really wants to have some freeway fun ;) Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: Moe on June 04, 2008, 05:10:40 PM A car that is bad-ass and the only one that caught my attention when I went to the auto show last year was the MB S65 AMG. Same HP and Tq. as the SL posted above, but in a bigger package and IMO better looking. If I had the bucks, this is what I would drive.
Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: AV6NHBP6SPD on February 07, 2009, 10:48:45 AM GT-R gets my vote.
i seen both GT-R and R8 at autoshow yesterday but still i like GT-R couse of its legendary status problem with R8 is that its kinda easy to mistake it for TT but if you roll up in GT-R ppl will notice Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: timot_one on February 07, 2009, 11:46:25 AM I don't think it matters at this point. I'm guessing that Mike's dad already got a new car. FWIW, the new Maximas and Altimas have a similar schnoz as the GT-R.
Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: Heckler on February 14, 2009, 07:22:06 AM I absolutely love every new Audi they have made in the past several years.
I would say an R8 hands down. Not a big fan of the GTR. It's sweet but it's no Audi. Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: suleman_manji on February 23, 2009, 01:08:44 AM DBS. Call it a day. If your dad still hasn't gotten another car of-course.
Title: Re: New car for Dad R8 or GT-R Post by: Latin2nr on February 25, 2009, 09:32:22 AM Hands down.
