Title: how many miles can you drive on a full tank?
Post by: rich on April 23, 2009, 11:22:09 AM
and what is your gas mileage like?

recently i moved to a place that is about 10 mins from work so now i take the highway a lot which makes my gas mileage better as it's not a lot of stop n go traffic just constant driving at a constant speed. last week i hit the mile mark for my mileage where i got 347.3 miles on a more than full tank. (usually when i get gas, once it clicks to stop, i keep filling it up til i see gas start to come up, i usually get an extra $3-4). before i moved i would only get like 210-220mi on a full tank so i was just wondering what your guys mileage is like? i always get premium 93 octane. i try to always get it from shell or mobil. with that 347.3 i think my MPG was like 24/25.

With city driving we usually get around 350 or so. The most we've gotten is almost 500 I think, I remember I posted it on the old gen7 right after we got back from our trip to Myrtle but can't remember exactly what it was.

I do a lot of mixed driving but for the most part I get between 330 to 360 on a tank. I usually fill up right when the light comes on as well. So my mpg is about 28. Then again, I'm rocking a K24 vs. a J30 like you Rich.

Really even with heavy food in the car? I find that when I have heavy food I lose a little LOL....

I get 325 - 350

i do a good mix of city/hwy and average 350 in a j30

Title: Re: how many miles can you drive on a full tank?

I usually average about 300-350 miles before my low fuel light comes on doing 90% city driving.  I have been able to get 400-500 miles before my low fuel light comes on if I do all highway and hypermile.  I got about 430 miles this past weekend driving to upstate NY and back.  For anyone that knows what the Orange County area is like, then you know it has some big ass hills and very few flat parts.

I average about 260-270 miles with my 90% city driving

Well considering I fill up at half a tank (last half was ~225) I will guess I get at least 350, if not 400.

I thought it was a bad idea to fill up past the part where the pump clicks. I've been getting roughly 258 to 268 miles on a full tank 100% city driving on my I4. On 100% highway driving, I get about 400 to 420 miles on a full tank.

On highway trips I get 34mpg. I once drove from Cincinnati to Atlanta on 1 tank of gas. Normally I get about 300-350 in the city.

In the I4 doing hwy I get 400-420 (33-35mpg) before the gas light comes on. But I could squeak out another 4-5 gal after that, never pushed it though. That's doing roughly 70-75.

City driving I get around 25-29mpg which is around 350 to a tank. This is me taking it easy for the most part

Wow I must have a lead foot or something cause my gas milage just sucks compared to everyone else! Before I started my new job I did about 90% city driving was getting around 20- 22 mpg now I'm driving about 85% highway and I'm still only getting 25-26 mpg. I also haven't noticed any difference from going from the Accord which was auto to the TSX that is 6sp. Maybe I need to set the cruse or something and see what happens cause seeing everyone elses milage makes me jealous since I fill up every 4 days usually cause if not I'm running on fumes by the 5th trip home from work.

ashley i think your problem is that you are a really pretty female lol every girl i have ever know has complained they pay too much for gas but they drive like a bat out of hell... Dont feel bad i drive that way too, when i am at work tho, cause then i am in a city vehicle and they pay for the gas lol

Half City Half Highway, about 320-360 to a tank. That includes pushing it whenever I please to, which may be around 15% of the time.

27mpg but then again i work less then 4 miles from home, on the weekends is when i put atleast 100+ miles on my car, so i fill my tank every 2weeks....one tank averages between 275-300...

Title: Re: how many miles can you drive on a full tank?

about 15 mpg all city with all cold starts which gets me around 240 on a full tank. with all highway and a warm start, i got 200 miles on what the guage said was half a tank which led to about 35 mpg.

Just want to clarify that the 300-350 city is when the gas light comes on.  For anyone interested I've calculated that our cars have about 4 gallons of gas left when the light comes on. I've filled up almost right when the light comes on and the car will only take 13 gallons at best.  When I am on long distance drives I figure I have 100 miles left when the gas light comes on...playing slightly on the conservative side.

Title: Re: how many miles can you drive on a full tank?
Post by: timot_one on April 23, 2009, 11:33:37 PM
I've had my low fuel light come on with 4 to 4.5 gallons left in the tank.  If you usually average more than 25 mpg, 100 miles is a good estimate.

I'm a V6 so my mileage is a bit lower than most, if I cruise control it on the highway, 320-330 tops from dead full to empty, I'll let you know how my gas mileage is this weekend, I am doing roughly, 350 miles of driving Saturday, I'll start at dead full and see where it goes from there.

i'm in the 200-300 range (50% city, 50% highway). I was in the 300-400 (on the high side of the range) before I got my roof rack

+1 :)

With SRI, TSX IM, Greddy EVOII, and resetting ECU on a warm engine, my max distance was 646 km (401 miles).  That's mostly highway driving at 80-100km/h (50-60mph).

Whenever i say this no one ever believes me, but:
One time i drove to detriot to see a Giants Lions game. Drove from philly to detriot 75mph cruise control the whole way, didnt fill up once. Ofcourse I filled up when we got into detriot.

580 miles is quite a distance.  If your tank was topped off, the roads were flat, and you used the cruise control the whole way, it's possible.  I'm sure I could pull it off under the right conditions.  If you went about 55-65 mph, you probably would have gone further.

Title: Re: how many miles can you drive on a full tank?
Post by: AV6NHBP6SPD on April 24, 2009, 03:16:57 PM
i got as high as 31.5mpg so its about 535 miles per tank. im sure you can get more if you drive 55-60 instead of 70-80

Title: Re: how many miles can you drive on a full tank?
Post by: Fenix on April 24, 2009, 03:25:58 PM
it was a rather pleasent drive, mainly because the driving was split up and i was watching movies when I wasnt driving.
As for the roads, yes they were mostly flat, we drove all the way through PA and those roads are pretty damn flat.

the past 2 or 3 fill ups i've been getting over 400 miles to the tank. over 30 mpg! its crazy!  i don't want to call it highway, but i guess you could. it's a lot of open roads with high speed limits...so yeah highway lol

4cyc.  200 miles per tank stop and go driving. I mean topping it off to dead empty. Way after the light comes on. Highway maybe 300-350 a tank.

That hypermiler is one of those idiot fanatics that takes things too fucking far.  I hate people like him who are arrogant snobs about saving a few pennies worth of gas while endangering everyone else on the road.  Some of his techniques help increase fuel economy, but most of them are careless and dangerous.

I'm with you Steve, about the same and that's using 87 octane all the time.
I work in the city so I don't drive there, I take the subway, can't find parking in the streets and the parking
lots want like $25 to $40 to park for any 12 hrs, fuck that shit, so I mainly drive like to the market or around the 'hood sometimes on the weekdays and drive a lot on the weekends, It usually takes from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 weeks to fill up again.
Just to give you an example I got my CM May 1st /08 with 17,500 mi. and it is now May 5th /09 and I read 27,350 mi.
still haven't reached 10,000 miles yet.

filled up when came back on sunday from meet.
put in 16.6galons in. managed to get 490 miles out of 16.6galons. so thats 29.6mpg, not bad, but i missed vtec

thats only saving about 2.5 galons per tank but sacrificing all the fun, dont think it worth it.
