Title: Lowering Advice Post by: Latin2nr on March 30, 2009, 11:16:25 AM I'm really considering lowering my CM but I need some advice.
I have 215/40/18 size wheels, I want the top of the wheel to be even with the lip of the wheel well, I really, really don't want a bumpy ride, anything close to the stock ride is perfect, since this is a family sedan I need to keep the feel. As we all know New York City is very unforgiving when it comes to potholes, I mean I'm okay with it but when you have your wife drive the car they sometimes forget how to manuever through these city streets. Also I'm not trying to spend an arm & a leg, times are tough, a lot of you know what I mean. Any & all advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank You All Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: driveaccord on March 30, 2009, 12:52:14 PM i've been very happy with my s-techs and stock shocks....my ride is close to stock and it gives a nice drop...IMO its not worth it to pay for the pro-kit and not even be able to hardly notice the drop at all
Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: clapton924 on March 30, 2009, 05:50:19 PM With any drop you will lose ride comfort. Reason being the springs have to be stiffer. Performance and comfort are interconnected....improve one...decrease the other.

Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: dizzle on March 30, 2009, 10:54:37 PM i like my function & form coilovers so far but they do give you a big drop, even if on the highest perch
Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: Latin2nr on March 31, 2009, 08:35:24 AM Thanks for the feedback guys, that being said I really have to stress the fact that I absolutely can NOT have a bumpy or a stiff ride.
Also, I was wondering if springs & shocks or just springs or coilovers would do the trick and which one would be the better bargain. Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: Mike on March 31, 2009, 08:45:28 AM Honestly if your looking to not lose ride quality I would suggest getting the HFP suspension. It won't bring you as low as these other options but, will probably be the closest to maintaining stock feel.
Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: CrazyCreashunz on March 31, 2009, 09:40:50 AM ChinoOOo Eibach ProKit and Tokico shockz dude! Nice drop and cheapest way to go, since you don't wanna spend a lot like me!
Good luck on what you decide. Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: driveaccord on March 31, 2009, 11:00:16 AM you guys on the pro-kit...are you on stock shocks?? and i hardly believe that its a snow plow affect unless your getting 6+inches of snow and you have a lip on your car.....im grew up in NE ohio so have driven in plenty of deep snow when my s-techs were installed and didn't "plow" anything
Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: ikethegreat on March 31, 2009, 11:20:48 AM There is no way to keep the ride at "stock comfort" and be low enough to have your tires line up with the bottom of your fenders. It's just not going to happen. The HFP kit might be a happy medium for you though.
Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: exelr8 on March 31, 2009, 12:14:51 PM I would go with either the HFP kit or a neuspeed supercup kit... I personally like the supercup kit you can adjust the ride height by adjusting the spring perch and you can adjust the stiffness of the shocks

I've been running this for a while now...OEM shocks are a bit bouncy with Eibach springs. But if your roads are good you can get away with it for a while. I still have almost a finger gap between fender and wheel. With the Konis set to full soft in the front, the ride is bearable on 18s. I've gotten used to the ride but every time I get in Gen's coupe which is still on stock shocks it's like getting into a Cadillac compared to my ride. I don't think there is any way to get the comfort of stock suspension with the drop you're looking for. It's a trade-off you're going to have to live with. Sorry Tim, I guess you fixed it. Thanks. Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: Sworkhard on April 20, 2009, 12:05:04 PM Look into the eibach pro system especially if you have a v6. Near stock ride and improved handling.
This guy claims it rides like stock and its still a huge improvement in the looks department overstock. http://www.v6performance.net/forums/sho ... p?t=161904 (http://www.v6performance.net/forums/showthread.php?t=161904) Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: JDMJNKY on April 21, 2009, 12:00:52 AM Tein S-techs & stock shocks have done it for me!!! 100K on them and barely loosing comfort due to driving habits. Canyon, hills, roadways, corners, all of it excessively. I do believe I will try Function type II's next. Along w/ Upgrading the factory suspension bushings. Now that I know how to make adjustable links, I will do that as well for the rear.
Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: Blackhawk on May 15, 2009, 03:01:18 PM My new setup consists of HFP struts and Eibach Sportline Springs made for the 06-07 Coupe, they have a more even drop. The ride is a perfect balance of smooth and stiff, allowing for a great daily driving experience. I highly recommend this setup for looks and ride. I will post pics of this new setup soon but right now I like seeing my car with somewhat of a "smart" wheel-gap. Looks nice to see the entire tire tread for a change. The ride is night and day with sleeve-over suspension as well.

all in all i love it and it would be my reco. Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: Sworkhard on May 16, 2009, 11:07:25 AM I've got neuspeed sport springs with koni sp3's on my car and they ride very close to stock (I couldn't tell a difference, except over really big bumps) but handling seems to be much improved. With the perches set on middle front and back I have a 2 finger gap up front, and 1.5 finger gap in the back but it would probably be perfectly flat if not for the audio equipment in my trunk.
Title: Re: Lowering Advice Post by: LvaC03NyC on May 18, 2009, 03:53:33 PM I also live in NYC and am looking for a nice drop for my car....I recently saw a 03 sedan dropped and I asked the dude and he said he was riding on sprint shocks....any info on those?
