Title: HID kelvin rating Post by: exelr8 on March 27, 2009, 08:53:53 PM What kelvin rating Hids should i get, I already have a set of 10000k bulbs and i am wanting to buy a whole kit so i can use them i am thinking about buying the kit and getting the 3000k bulbs(golden yellow) that would go very well with what i want to do with a set of inspire fogs when i get them ;p But, Is the 3000k practical for a DD?
Let me know what you guys think. Thanks, -Big Mike Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: timot_one on March 28, 2009, 12:27:41 AM Where are these going?
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: mnkyman on March 28, 2009, 02:42:44 AM if these are going in the headlights, i say go with white...any other color sucks for driving, especially a dd, and cops will hassle you
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: exelr8 on March 28, 2009, 03:35:07 AM They would be going in the low beams... Seeing as how i work for the PD i dont really have to worry about it lol
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: timot_one on March 28, 2009, 08:12:01 AM Do you want better light output, or do you just want color? If you want better light output, don't go higher than 5000k. If you want color, have a ball and do whatever you want. The sweet spot for our field of vision is around 4300k-5000k. The further you get away from that, the less lumens, the harder it is to see. On top of that, those really bright blue and purple bulbs fatigue your eyes very quickly at night. I would recommend 4300k-5000k in low beams or high beams and 2500k-3000k for fog lights. I would also recommend not using HIDs in a halogen based reflector housing since it will produce a lot of glare.

Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: Abailey4 on March 28, 2009, 01:05:11 PM If you really wanna do the HID's in stock housing go with 4300K like Tim said but a couple people in my squad have 6000K and it's not bad at all.

Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: thisaznboi88 on March 28, 2009, 11:15:18 PM don't get purple I will slap you. Can't see crap. I had a stupid lifted up truck drive next to me with his crappy purple HID and it hurts it hurts.
Take tim recommendation man. Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: exelr8 on March 29, 2009, 12:23:02 AM i think i am going to go with 5000k
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: rjp6262 on March 30, 2009, 12:17:00 AM good choice on the 5000k bulbs. i was going to do that with my headlights, but decided to get some OEM HID bulbs (4300k). couldn't be happier with them either.
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: exelr8 on March 30, 2009, 01:25:44 AM yeah im saving up and with the change in taxes coming out of pay checks i will have about 100 more a paycheck so im going to keep modding the accord and i have got to get some better lighting the stock headlights especialy with all this weather we have been having are killing me
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: rjp6262 on March 30, 2009, 07:53:20 PM i feel you man. i was driving behind an EX sedan the other night and it had rained all day before hand. I was trying to see if their headlights were on because it was so dark in front of them. it turns out they were on, they just aren't that bright. my retro easily over powered their light, even in the rain i can still see the road.
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: JC04accord on March 30, 2009, 09:43:53 PM 4 6k bulbs is what I have couldn't be happier.
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: Paulius005 on April 05, 2009, 09:10:19 PM I love my 5000k DDM Tuning HID's. They look cool when they start up and still look cool while on, but don't attract attention from the cops. Also light output is so much better compared to 8000k/10000k. I wish I could afford to retrofit...
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: exelr8 on April 22, 2009, 11:14:45 AM Does the DDM HID kid include everythign i will need? ie:ballasts, ignitors, and bulbs?
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: aavq85 on April 22, 2009, 12:05:00 PM the DDM tunning kit includes everything u need. i got it a couple months ago. i personally got the wiring harness as well from them (better to be safe than sorry) and it all came out to around $120 including shipping
Title: Re: HID kelvin rating Post by: exelr8 on April 23, 2009, 12:09:58 AM what is the wiring harness that is needed?

http://www.ddmtuning.com/products/HID_A ... 33-94.html (http://www.ddmtuning.com/products/HID_Accessory_Harness_Assy-133-94.html) lifetime warranty too. The accessory harness is really not necessary unless your going to go with a 55w set. Aviography (A mod on driveaccord.net) has had that kit with no harness for 1.5 years with no problems so far, plus the lifetime warranty helps too :D. |
