I've had my blackberry for a little over a year now and its connected to me no matter what.  I felt so weird last night cause I didnt have it when I went to get ice cream cause the battery was on its last leg from listening to Slacker Radio all day. (btw if you dont have that you should! it's basically XM radio for free on your blackberry!)

Yeah I downloaded Slacker about a month or so ago.  I had a BB about 3 years ago but Ashley and I switched to Verizon since she got a discount and I was stuck with the "Q" for a couple years til we both got the Storm back in December.  Tim I'll PM you my PIN as soon as I remember how to find it. LOL!

I had a pearl, but then I picked up my iPhone. If only you had posted this a couple of months ago in g7a classic.

i dont use the phone i have now enough, i barely talk on it, maybe 50 minutes a month. I text a bit but thats from verizon to verizon. I was thinking about getting one cause i can get my emails from work with it, that would be usefull. Maybe sometime in the future

Love the G1 but, Chilling with Elite's on BB messenger would be really cool to. I dunno the best feture of the G1 is the absolute pile of free games&applications

Man only if I liked BB's lol. Might get one soon though. Dash is letting me down (after owning damn near every); hell tmobile in general is letting me down.

T-Mobile is a love-em or hate-em type carrier. I had them for 4 years before I hated them lol. I've had: AT&T (Cingular), T-Mobile, and now Metro PCS. Loving the flat rate plan, but want something with more backbone. Seriously looking into a Verizon plan.

I've had Verizon for the last 10 years or so and other than the usual bullshit that all phone companies pull, they've been fairly solid.

T-mobile has been awesome to me. I'm going on about 10 years also, and they just offered me a new rate for being a long term customer.

the curve is the way to go... DONT buy the pearl... you'll hate not having the full keyboard

I have a pearl right now and its always messing up. I'm on number 5 of them . I'm going to be getting a curve soon though thank god!

Yeah.  I was hoping it would be better than the Voyager.  I gave that to my gf too.  She hate it.  I figured that since I have a touch screen in my car (and about to install a second one) and an iPod touch, I wouldn't mind having a touch screen phone too.

I loved the curve. I feel that I made a signifigant upgrade at this point but, the curve was the best Blackberry I owned and I owned a few of them.

Yeah I didnt mind the Q at first when it initially came out. Then I grew to hate it, I love the Storm much better than the Q. It just takes some time to get used to it.

I have a ? for all you blackberry users. If I buy a blackberry curve and switch my service over to it, will it work without paying for the internet data package thing verizon has?

The BB messenger will not work w/o the internet data plan.

Is that everything? I am debating buying one off egay but i dont really want my bill to go up to almost 90 a month

As far as I know anything Internet related wont work but the phone will work fine and your plan shouldnt change.

PIN is a feature that unites all blackberry's using an exclusive 8-digit alpha numeric code. Sort of like an interactive serial number system. For Blackberry messengers, they are used to immediately locate and add a contact.

so what model BB does everyone have?  I'm trying to get feedback on which one is most reliable.

The BB messenger thing is kind of like Blackberry's AIM. And it allows more text space than a text message so if you send a long message you dont have to send more than one to get the whole message to go through.

I've got the Storm but I wouldnt call it the most reliable since it's still so relatively new. The Bold seems to be the most popular and maybe reliable.

I can't say enough great things about the Curve Titanium. It's compact, has a full QWERTY, and sleek. Then again it's my first Blackberry ever so I'm in smartphone heaven, period.

ill agree with JT ....except the curve freezing up sometimes from running several apps at once....i love it.. its my first blackberry as well....i love having the nascar app and listening to the in car audio during the races

yea, i wanted the bold, and i've heard rumors that verizon is going to be getting it, but i'm not sure.  my second choice over the bold is definitely the Curve.  It's probably the best BB that verizon has.. so i may be picking that up in june when my upgrade comes up.  unless VZ gets the bold..  thanks guys.

I think i'm officailly back in the BB market. I pulled the trigger on getting rid of mine to soon. I love my current phone but, there is no one will to develop a back door BB messenger app.

I think it's just a paging feature. Kind of like getting someone's attention so they can get back to you whenever they can.

i just got bb bold 2 weeks ago and this phone is so much better than my htc fuze, and it way faster, better battery life w/ the os update

I believe so, but it may have to be the email you set up through blackberry(****@***.blackberry.net). I've never done it before so I could be wrong.

What are your opinions in regards to the battery life of your BB? I can say that mine sucks.

^ The Storm's battery life is up and down. Sometimes it will last all day sometimes it'll be dead by the time I get home.  I guess it all depends on what apps you run durin the day or how much emailing/texting you do.

My curve is amazing. I haven't charged it for 2 days and battery still has about 1/4 left. I have chargers at home and work so I am not worried about it though.

Yes.  I have my gmail account on my BB.  The battery life on my Storm usually depends on how much I use it.  Usually I can go 2 days without charging it.  When I use it a lot during the day texting, e-mailing, and on IM, I usually rip through the battery in one work day.

mine gotten better when i update my os and now i dont need to charge my phone for 2 1/2 days sometimes 3

My battery usually sucks but its because I listen to Slacker Radio while I'm at work so it eats the battery in a few hours, so usually on the way home from work my battery is in the red and my status light is flashing red/green. I gotta remember to take a extra charger to work since my pos computer usb ports arent working so I can't charge my phone that way.

^ I also hate the fact that when the battery gets really low it turns off your radio with no notification.  I will just all of a sudden realize it but I wont know how long it's off til I get enough juice in it and then I get bombarded with emails and texts that I missed while the radio was off.

My Storm is fucking up hardcore.  It's constantly freezing and rebooting.  It's shut off and rebooted on me like 5 times this week.  Kinda sad that I keep having the same issues with all my phones.  Fucking Verizon has shitty phones.  I wish they weren't the biggest douchebags ever and had half a fucking brain to not have turned down Apple's offer to have the iPhone.  What idiots.

Tim,  the storm has a lot of issues with earlier versions of the firmware.  If yours is crashing go to crackberry.com, visit the forums, and upgrade to one of the latest versions.   This one is really good

In addition to this, if your not running the stock theme, try going back to it as they can cause some pretty insane memory leaks.  Also, try finding out if it's some software you installed.  most likely though, a firmware upgrade is in order

The iphone isn't all that either.  It still has issues making phone calls and having phone calls randomly disconnect although it's pretty good for the rest.

If your adventurous you can also try upgrading your firmware to one of the two listed above.  Depending on your particular phone, it could improve your batter life significantly

Whatever you do, don't upgrade your firmware if your running windows7 as you'll brick your phone (thankfully, it's quite easy to unbrick blackberries).  Windows Vista, xp, 2000, etc are all fine though

Thought I would bump this thread even though it's been forever.  I just replaced my BB Storm because it's a pile of shit.  Anyone that had me on their BB Messenger should PM me for my new PIN.  I texted the people that were in my contacts, but there are other people that weren't in there.

RIM is releasing a Mac version of Desktop Manager soon.  Not running a Windows VM?  Too bad you live so far away, I'd help you with the upgrade..

Actually I am right now.  I used the mac desktop manager, yet it doesn't work.  It could be the fact that I have a fucked up bb, or it could be the fact that the sw sucks.  I run windows on my mac for kpro, but that's the only function that it serves.

For Verizon, I'd recommend the Tour; although they seem to have trackball problems.

If you're getting the Storm, you might as well wait and get the Storm 2.

I have the Bold right now, but I'm considering upgrading to either the Onyx/Bold 2 or the Storm 2.  There's supposed to be a newer version of the Tour coming out sooner than later also.  But the Storm 2 has an expected release date sometime in October.

I hate my Storm.  I would never get another one ever again.  The touch screen is cumbersome to use and it's just a bad phone.  I replaced my first one because the screen just went blank, my current one keeps giving me false SMS/e-mail alerts even though it's only like 3 weeks old.  Verizon will never admit that they're having problems, but just like with the Voyager I had, they will probably admit that after they stop selling it.  My friend loves his Curve though, and I would probably stay away from the Tour until they get the bugs worked out.  It seems that Verizon has a knack for releasing new phones before they're ready for the market and still don't have all the problems solved.

+1 for the Curve. I bought my wife a Curve and the thing doesn't die. I had a Pearl before my iPhone (which I probably mentioned before) and that thing would go through anything without a hitch. And Tim, I'm sorry you're having so many problems with the Storm and it seems to be something a lot of people experience. Matter of fact, my next door neighbor and his wife both have Storms and hate them. They are counting down the days until their contract is over to switch to At&t to get an iPhone.

I think it's the carrier more than the manufacturer.  From the response I got from BB when I spoke to their tech support, I guess Verizon SW fucks up their phones.  Those poor bastards are circling the bowl right now.  Best network my ass, those guys are have the same service as other carriers and their phones blow.  I tell every single Verizon employee (including my brother's wife) that I come in contact with that I hate the Storm and that all the phones they offer SUCK.  I'm going to wait until Verizon has the iPhone next summer, and if it's fucked up because of Verizon, I'm ditching them ASAP.

I've never been a fan of Verizon. There's a couple guys at my shop that switched over to ATT, and got iPhones to boot, and had massive complaints about Verizon's service and the phones. I also have beef with Verizon because we deal with them (the USCG) for the work phones and the circuits some of our equipment depends on. Whenever our equipment goes down, 9 times out of 10, its Verizon.

So what cool things can you do with the Curve? My older BB I had was just a brick with numbers, it couldnt do much.

Figured that I would mention that anyone that has me on their list, either ping me or PM me with your PIN again so I can add you to my newest phone.  In the past month or so, I've gone through 3 BB Storms and Verizon finally replaced it with the Tour.  I'm still getting used to it right now, but it is immensely better than the Storm.  I would recommend that anyone considering a Storm, walk away.  That phone SUCKS BALLS.

Other than some of the trackball problems the Tour was having, the Tour is an awesome phone..  I'll send you my bbm pin again :-)

Verizon isn't the same company they used to be.  They don't really cripple phones anymore.  If you take a look at the newer blackberries that are coming out on Verizon, they have wi-fi.  I'm fairly sure they aren't crippled like they used to be.  The new Droid is completely untouched by Verizon, except for a couple badges and a couple Verizon apps.  Otherwise, it's a full featured phone.

The Storm is the Storm.  It's not Verizon's fault that RIM released the phone too early, in my opinion.  The Storm2 is everything that the Storm1 was supposed to be, and from what I hear, is a lot better phone.  Honestly, when users are coming up with such things as using a business card to make the Storm touch screen work better, I think that is a hardware design issue more than it is a carrier issue ;-)

And just an FYI, spend enough time on crackberry.com and you'll see that RIM OSes aren't always perfect and a lot of the time, is far from it.  Granted, I've been running beta 5.0 OSes lately before I switched to Verizon and got the Droid, but I had problems with official carrier OSes as well.

I'm not bashing on RIM, because I love Blackberries, but that's just the way a crackberrier lives.  Just sometimes have to deal with memory management, random reboots, sometimes BIS issues, etc.

Verizon's phone selection is starting to get a lot better now that they picked up the Android platform.  And if Verizon does actually get the iPhone, I seriously doubt Verizon would be allowed to touch the software.

I hear what you're saying Mark.  I don't blame it all on Verizon, because I do agree that RIM is equally to blame for the Storm.  I'm just pissed at Verizon and the marketing geniuses at RIM that decided to launch a product that wasn't ready.

I unlocked my verizon tour to use tmobile loaded all my service books ect everything works good but do any you crackberry heads know how to get my google maps working? the bbmaps works great but i like google maps i cant get data or gps signal with it

Tether app costs $40 and allows you to tether using your Data plan.
