Have you been flushing your brake fluid regularly. That is what usually happens when you don't flush it out.
Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: AV6NHBP6SPD on March 17, 2009, 12:15:24 AM never done it. today im going to dealer to get brake fluid, changing on thursday
Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: stirfriedferret on March 17, 2009, 03:12:03 AM also, use a pressure bleeder or manually bleed it. i learned the hard way by using a vacuum bleeder. no bueno.
Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: AV6NHBP6SPD on March 17, 2009, 06:02:03 AM I think im gona suck out as much as I can out of resevuar first and put new fluid there and then bleed it manualy. Is there way to bleed clutch lines?
Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: NVA-AV6 on March 17, 2009, 06:14:00 AM Yes, the clutch slave cylinder has a bleeder screw on it and you treat it just like the brakes as far as bleeding. To me it looks like moisture(water) is getting into the system, check you resevoiur caps.....
Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: skizot on March 17, 2009, 06:35:07 AM They also make a do-it-yourself bleeder tool that you can connect to the bleeder screw on each caliper which pushes air bubbles and fluid up through the line into the reservoir. Something that is handy if trying to do this on your own. You could basically remove all the fluid, loosen up your bleeder screws and flush the system out yourself, tighten the screws, put new fluid in and then go one caliper at a time to bleed the air out of the system. Rather then having to pay the dealership to do it. I am sure we could all help you online do it yourself, but if you don't feel comfortable, then you should take it somewhere for someone who does.

Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: timot_one on March 17, 2009, 12:02:12 PM Sounds like a good idea. I need to do the exact same thing myself. I'm probably doing it this weekend when we install Keith's exhaust.
Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: rjp6262 on March 19, 2009, 12:22:27 PM mine looked exactly like that when i got mine flushed. glad i did, but i still have a hard spot in the brakes right when i press the pedal in...any ideas?

but my clutch still has the same problem. i dont get it, wtf Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: NVA-AV6 on March 20, 2009, 07:11:22 AM The dampener in your clutch master cylinder may be screwed.
Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: AV6NHBP6SPD on March 20, 2009, 07:43:52 AM ^^^so you have to replace master cylinder? this would couse intermittent issues?

Can you be a bit more specific about the symptoms you're having? "Acting weird" isn't a good description of your problem. I would only assume that Paul knows more about your situation, which is why he gave this advice. Quote from: "NVA-AV6" The dampener in your clutch master cylinder may be screwed. I believe that replacing your clutch master cylinder would be the appropriate action. Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: AV6NHBP6SPD on March 20, 2009, 10:09:37 AM when i get on high way for example or just do couple shifts at high rpm 6k or so, even 5k as well. like from 2nd to 3rd to 4th at 6k, then when i shift into 5th or 6th clutch pedal first normal till like half way down and then its harder to press, not smooth all the way down as if you shift normaly. so i guess it might be related to something overheating? where is master cylinder? how much is it and how hard to replace it?
Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: timot_one on March 20, 2009, 11:10:17 AM Your clutch master cylinder is on your firewall on the driver's side next to your brake master cylinder. It's not too hard to replace. I need to do mine soon too.
Title: Re: brake fluid. i think this is real bad Post by: NVA-AV6 on March 20, 2009, 01:24:34 PM Whats real pita is bleeding it out. First connect a rubber hose from the slightly opened bleeder screw on the slave cylinder and run it back to the resevoiur, pump the pedal and add fluid as necessary until no more air bubbles appear. Then do some normal pedal pressure bleeds at the slave, again until there is no more air, then crack the connections at the rubber hose and bleed there just like bleeding at the slave.
