I haven't dynoed or tuned yet. I just got this put on Friday. I'm still waiting on a throttle body I sent to King Motorsports to get bored out, and I have to chop my V2 to adapt to the S/C.

You need a radiator before you work a hole in the upper hose :P something like this.....

What kind of radiator is that Paul?  How much do those run?

It is actually one for a 6th gen V6, with a little massaging it fits quite nicely.

WOW.  That's amazing.  PURE SEX!

I'm surprised you guys kept it a secret....and glad.  I like your style!

Title: Re: CT Engineering Supercharger
Post by: NVA-AV6 on March 16, 2009, 07:03:46 PM
The radiator is $300 my cost and needs a little massaging and extra brackets for the fans since the radiator is 1" taller than stock, but the hood closes fine with it.

Title: Re: CT Engineering Supercharger
Post by: timot_one on March 16, 2009, 08:20:07 PM
That's not a bad price for the radiator.

I can prep one for you with the mods and brackets for $400+shipping, you will need a new coolant resevoir and upper hose. I am trying to find a custome silicone hose shop to take my prototype and turn it into a single piece.

If you look at the pics, his upper rad hose is sitting against the SC and is being rubbed raw while the engine is running, the CT kits are made for the upper hose to be in the center of the radiator away from the blower.

Hey Thien,

Out of curiosity, did you upgrade your engine before doing this?  Or are all the internals stock, with the S/C on?

Title: Re: CT Engineering Supercharger [Update with Vids]
Post by: mnkyman on April 12, 2009, 09:38:45 PM
someone correct me if i'm wrong, but what is the point of a tune in very cold weather when the average temperature the car will be at is much higher? I understand doing a dyno in colder weather (better numbers), but why a tune?...do you have different maps you can switch between?

Title: Re: CT Engineering Supercharger [Update with Vids]
Post by: timot_one on April 12, 2009, 10:09:27 PM
Whenever you modify your engine with more than just bolt ons, you need to tune it.  If you don't tune your motor, you're going to run rich or lean (depending on the modification) and will damage your motor.  In Thien's case, he was running incredibly lean because the SC was forcing more air in the combustion chamber, but the stock ECU was not providing enough fuel to compensate for the forced induction.

i understand that, but shouldn't you tune at temperature that the car is going to be running at a majority of the time?
It just doesn't make sense to go get a tune at 40 degrees, when summer is just around the corner and the car is going to be driven in much warmer weather.

Title: Re: CT Engineering Supercharger [Update with Vids]
Post by: timot_one on April 12, 2009, 11:07:10 PM
I guess you don't get the point of tuning then Sam.  If he didn't tune his car, he would DAMAGE THE MOTOR!  Isn't that reason enough to tune it as soon as possible?  Sure, different temperatures can affect the performance, and fine tuning it for those changes is good practice.  But think white and get serious.  Engine reliability trumps performance.

But think white and get serious.

what the hell is that suppose to mean?

He has had the SC for atleast a month now, has this seriously been the warmest day? If keeping the engine from blowing up was a major concern, I would figure he would do that within the first couple days (if not immediately after)...

and just for the record, i understand that a tune is important, im advocating that he should have tuned a long time ago...not a month later on a cold day

Title: Re: CT Engineering Supercharger [Update with Vids]
Post by: MyNameIsThien on April 13, 2009, 12:03:12 AM
OK, It was tuned 2-3 week ago. The shop that did the tune half assed it. So, I took it to another shop. I scheduled the dyno and tune for today, but I scheduled it 2 weeks ago. I did not think it was going to be 40 degrees out. Sorry, I don't live in Texas where its hot and has a steady weather condition. Here in Colorado, it snows in April and/or in May, and you will never know if it'll snow or not.

Beyond impressive.......way beyond. I'm curious how tough the torque steer will be to control. Will you be using a 5W30 synthetic oil?

Title: Re: CT Engineering Supercharger [Update with Vids]
Post by: MyNameIsThien on April 16, 2009, 09:16:01 PM
I am making the switch next oil change from Mobile 1 5W20 to Mobile 1 5W30. As for the torque steer, it does get a little crazy if I put the pedal to the medal.
