Title: Auto transmission problem.
Post by: super425 on June 05, 2013, 12:00:51 AM
So my transmission is kinda hesitated when I give it gas at dead stop. Any one have this problem before. This is a 4 bangers. Check the trans fluid is ok and just replace them not long ago. So I am wondering about this and want to fix it asap. My next question is replacing a filter will it help. I did some research and people on DA said it under my air box and I should replace to the magnefine filter. Anyone done this before please give some comment on that and what size filter did you get. If that is not the correct filter, where you think it will be, and if you have the DIY for it that will be great.

Thanks in advance for any comments or solutions

Replacing the filter is for preventative maintenance.  It isn't going to fix a broken transmission.

I wouldn't call it a broken trans but probably on its way out.

Another auto or a 5/6MT swap.

When I installed the Magnefine filter on my old car, it made a small but noticeable reduction in shift times. I don't think that would apply to your problem though since yours is hesitating from a start.

Maybe you're finally realizing that the 4 banger auto is *that* slow? :trololol:

I actually have that same issue when at low speeds in 2nd gear, and I try to give it gas. Does your engine like feel bogged down when it makes that hum? For me, it's either wait 5 seconds for it to actually pick up, or mash the damn pedal and force it to downshift. My car also runs rich for whatever reason, so I would suggest looking for the same issue with yours, if there is any resemblance at all.

oh oh there you go someone finally understand what i am talking about. push the pedal, start the hum, 5 seconds later start going again. I already made an appointment at honda dealer for them to look into the problem see whatever it is inside that go wrong. And i am sure they dont do shit to it because of all the aftermarket and bolt on parts so at least i will find what is the problem. *figure cross*

When your car bogs down like that, does it still feel like it's producing a little torque, or do you simply not move at all? Either way, I'd be inclined to think that it's an engine issue, not your transmission. When you're sitting at a stop, your tranny is still engaged, so it's not like it has to shift or anything, causing that hesitation. Unless my logic is flawed.

when the car bog down, it still give me torque that my car can run. But now I am inclined toward to my engine mount cause i sit at red light and it still vibrate hella. and i check my engine and not thing wrong as i can see.

Maybe I should check my engine mounts too. I noticed sometimes when I accelerate from a stop, I can hear a faint "crumbling" sound from the engine bay, if that's an accurate way to call it.

Alright good new for me that my trans is ok and everything else they didnt check cause i have aftermarket parts in there. But yeah i do have bad engine mount and the front is the bad one. you can check that by looking at it see small amount of oil leak coming from the bushing area.
