Title: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: Icebox on March 25, 2013, 09:35:51 AM i have been having this issue for a couple years and it keeps getting worse, i need some help diagnosing the problem so i dont just throw money at parts that arent needed. on the drivers side wiper, it floats over the middle of the windshield and leaves about a 6 inch circular spot that doesnt get wipes at all. ive tried new wipers of various brands and quality but still have the same problem. any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: Povy on March 25, 2013, 10:48:33 AM I have this problem too but on the passenger side.. I think Ben (dreaminaccord) did this too with Bosch wipers. He switched to OEM and problem gone as well.

Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: Icebox on March 25, 2013, 11:11:40 AM I'll give it a try.
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: Icebox on March 25, 2013, 11:12:13 AM im currently using a blade that is similar to bosch icons.
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: CrackerTeg on March 25, 2013, 11:26:13 AM Yeah. That's the thing. Those style blades are notorious for leaving unwiped spots.
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: Icebox on March 25, 2013, 11:30:57 AM ive used bosch icons for most of the time that ive owned the car and it wasnt until the past year and half or so that i started having the problem.
Title: Re: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: CrackerTeg on March 25, 2013, 12:21:20 PM Didn't they change their design to the flex style recently?
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: Icebox on March 25, 2013, 01:44:06 PM pretty sure they have always been flex or at least as long as i have had my accord, bought it in the fall of 07.
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: CrackerTeg on March 25, 2013, 02:55:41 PM I must be out of it then.
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: timot_one on March 25, 2013, 04:02:50 PM I've used Bosch Icons for the past 8 years on my car. Since wipers are a wearable item, I replace them about once a year (that my car is on the road). I didn't have much luck with the RainX latitudes when I tried them. They started streaking not long after I put them on. If you haven't replaced your wipers in a while, I'd start with that first.
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: Icebox on March 25, 2013, 07:28:45 PM it happens with brand new wipers, ive tried both bosch icons and trico force. i replace mine once a year as well. goin to the store to swap em out once again tomorrow.
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: timot_one on March 25, 2013, 07:33:08 PM If OEM's do it, then you may want to look into replacing the wiper arms.
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: Icebox on March 25, 2013, 07:51:50 PM the arm still has good spring to it, im gonna try some frame type wipers first then try the arm.

Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: booley on March 26, 2013, 03:04:36 AM i've had this problem on wifes car(07) with a couple different style blades. My car(04) doesn't seem to suffer with this problem...
guess i should see whats on my car, and duplicate it on wifeys... Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: ikethegreat on March 26, 2013, 07:49:03 AM Bosch Icons and Rain-X latitudes both missed spots on my windshield. Like others have said, I think it is due to their design. Now I just buy the cheap blades and they work fine.
Title: Re: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: cna on March 26, 2013, 08:07:56 AM Most the Time I get what ever is on special haven't had any major issues with missing a spot. I always stick to the flexible ones from Costco it be like buy one get one free. Although I did have one snap on me but replacement is free
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: Icebox on March 26, 2013, 11:28:05 AM so i swapped out the flex type blades for some bosch frame type wipers and it seems to have solved the problem but once we get some precipatation i will update.
Title: Re: Wiper misses spot on windshield Post by: 06RockHead on March 26, 2013, 11:32:15 AM Ill agree I have the same issue. Not quite as bad, im using Rainx latitudes. Ive found the old fashioned blades far superior but the rainx ones were more than half off at pepboys
