Title: How to UNinstall a RF 360.1
Post by: ikethegreat on November 07, 2012, 09:07:06 AM
I want to uninstall my 360.1.  As most of you probably know, I had an incompetent shop install my system years ago.  I've been trying to learn to do this stuff myself but I don't want to screw anything up so I figured I would ask before I started yanking out wires.

Basically I just need to know what needs to be unplugged and if anything needs to be plugged in elsewhere.  I've taken pictures of everything so I hope that helps.

RF 360.1:

Bottom of unit (these wires appear to be ran towards the front of the car to I assume the HU)

These RCA wires run to the amp

As always, thanks for the help!

What did they tap into to get signal your wire harness behind the radio or the rear speaker wires? Basically depending one which route your going, still running a processor or stock ?

The rear speaker wires appear to go directly from the speakers and into the amp.  It doesn't looks like they have been tapped into at all but I will double check.

Basically depending one which route your going, still running a processor or stock ?

I do not want to run a processor anymore.  I plan to upgrade my HU soon and wish to be able to do all my tinkering through there.

trace the wires back to the source and removed them if they was tap into the head unit then you will have to tape the oem ones back

Oh boy that sounds fun.   :(

You're talking about these wires right?

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

After that, I just need to remove the RCA plugs from the amp and I'm good to go?

Yes those wires , if you going with a aftermarket radio the rca's will plug into that

Well I do have an aftermarket unit installed.  It's that POS Autosoul navigation unit.

Found this wiring diagram in the manual.  I guess the only part I'm a bit confused about is what wires I'm supposed to use to hook the amp to the head unit.  You said to run RCA wires but it doesn't look like the HU has anywhere to plug them into.   :(

The audio outs on the right side should work.

Hmm. You may want to keep the RF unit until after you get a new head unit. If you just use the audio out, you really won't have any fade control.

OK... on my lunch break I tore down my center console and traced the 360 wires to this connector.  Here is what I found.

So using the picture above, what I need to do is disconnect 1 (wires from 360), 2 (same), and 3 (wires for front and rear speakers ran from amp)?  Then reattach 4 and 5?  What after that?

That is correct basically you will reattach the oem ones and take off the 360 ones , since your installing a aftermarket head unit . The  aftermarket head unit will connect to the oem harness  but since your using a amp you will run its rca's to the amp and from the amp back to the speakers

I'm confused about this part.  There doesn't appear to be anywhere on the HU to plug in RCA cables from the amp.

Unless that is what these are for?  The descriptions don't make sense though.

I really have no idea.  I'm just going to hold off on doing anything until I get a new HU.  I guess there is no sense having to rewire stuff twice.   Thank for helping!

That's why I suggested leaving it alone for now.  You'll probably end up being unhappy with the results anyway.  Wait until you get a new head unit, then pick up some decent RCA's to run from the head unit to your amp.
