Title: Euro-R Valve Cover
Post by: Milan on March 09, 2009, 03:28:43 AM
Hey all,

Thinking of what mod I want to do next with my tax refund, I was thinking I'd really love to do the Euro-R valve cover.  I could just paint my stock one but I love the crinkle finish.  Anyway, I want to make sure I buy the correct one.

Is this the right one for our cars?

Thanks!

All k-series valve covers are interchangeable (thank you Eli Whitney). So yes, the one you posted can work with the accord. Just make sure you get a new gasket set from the local auto-parts store or Honda (inexpensive really for the work it does)

Cool, thanks!

Also, does anyone besides Password:JDM make carbon fiber spark plug/intake manifold covers?  I love the way they look but I don't think they're worth the $90 and $120 respectively.  Yes, I know that Mugen makes one too but $390 is just outrageous for a spark plug cover.

It sure is purdy though!!

I'm just going to spray my dipstick black lol.

Let's see the CF spark plug cover you have!

:)

Plus I wanna say Mugen, Vision, Spoon, and Password:JDM all make CF spark plug covers for the k-series.

Milan, you could still paint your valve cover and get the wrinkle finish. Just buy the wrinkle paint and then you can even do it in whatever color you want.

I'm not sure if they make it in high-temp pain.  I assume I have to use high-temp paint.

It's so insanely vain, but after seeing your HDR photoshoot at Palm Beach (http://elitecm.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=408), I really started considering replacing mine too.  Originally, I was going to paint it too, but frick, after those pics, you just gotta have that wrinkle finish!

Yes I believe you must use high temp and I believe they make it in high temp because most wrinkle paint applications are done in the engine bay.

We sell back wrinkle paint made by VHT at work thats high temp, then you could just get a red thats close and spray over that.  I've been thinking about this for a while, I just never have enough time to do it

looks like doing it yourself takes a good amount of time...but i'd rather do it myself instead of drop 150 on a valve cover.

do NOT buy the JDM dipstick.  It is designed for a K20 with a higher capacity oil pan (and a shorter deck height if I'm not mistaken) and your oil level reading will be off.  Paint your stock dipstick black.

Steve, you're correct that the jdm black dipstick if a different length than the oem Accord one, and I know this because I own one.  But I just scraped new line level markings into mine so that it matches the oem lines, and it does the trick.  I'm sure painting the oem one is easy though for anyone who wants to try.

I still wish Racecoated was still in business.  Even though I have one of his valve covers I still wish he made them...he is truly an artist.

Yeah I painted my dipstick in about 15-20 minutes. Majority of that time was prep.
