Title: Advice on selling tires Post by: clapton924 on March 05, 2009, 01:23:40 AM So my set of TL wheels with mounted tires arrived today. I took them out of the boxes and looked them over for any damage. Of course the seller listed "85% tread on tires in good shape". To my surprise every fucking tire had a nail or screw in it. So now I have to take every damn wheel to the tire shop to get plugged.
For anyone selling their used wheels and tires....do your buyer a favor and check all your tires for punctures, nails, screws etc BEFORE selling your tires. A little courtesy goes a long way. Thank you, that is all. Title: Re: Advice on selling tires Post by: Milan on March 05, 2009, 01:47:55 AM That sucks man, gotta love fleabay lol.

Title: Re: Advice on selling tires Post by: Blackhawk on March 05, 2009, 09:54:03 AM Damn Greg, considering the steep price you paid, I would of at least expected you to get impecable tires. Sorry to hear about this, Whenever I buy tires I take the new plunge cause it's your life riding on them at the end of the day.
Title: Re: Advice on selling tires Post by: Abailey4 on March 05, 2009, 09:55:43 AM Yeah that sucks. I dont think I would buy used tires unless I could see them in person or if it was someone trustworthy like on here.
Title: Re: Advice on selling tires Post by: clapton924 on March 05, 2009, 10:22:57 AM Well, the tires are pretty new. They hold air....and are in good shape otherwise. The seller has agreed to refund the cost to patch them.

That's a good and honest move you rarely run into on the forums.

Title: Re: Advice on selling tires Post by: timot_one on March 05, 2009, 02:31:46 PM I would ask the seller to reimburse you for getting them plugged. You can also dispute it on paypal stating that they did not arrive in the condition that was described and have paypal refund a certain amount. I would contact the seller first and ask for them to give you back whatever you had to pay for the plugs.

Glad to hear that the seller reimbursed you.
Title: Re: Advice on selling tires Post by: clapton924 on March 08, 2009, 03:08:17 AM I have another question for you folks.
These tires I got with my rims have been a headache. First it was the holes...which have all been patched from the inside of the tire...no sidewall damage. I was looking at the tires this morning...and decided to measure the tread depth of the tires. The seller advertised them as being 80-85% tread left. I read that most new tires have about 10/32 tread when new. So I use the penny and quarter test as depicted on tirerack...and find that at best the tires have about 5/32 tread...so about 50% tread left. Question is this: If you bought these tires would you ask for some additional money back? I shelled out almost $700 for these wheels and tires because I thought the tires had lots of life left. This is the first time I've bought from a forum...so I'm not sure what standard policy is for these sorts of things. Thanks Title: Re: Advice on selling tires Post by: timot_one on March 08, 2009, 03:25:11 AM It's worth a try man. I would have walked from them considering how much TL wheels have been going for lately.

What is a fair price for a used tire with 50% tread which retails for $115 new? |
