Title: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 05, 2012, 07:33:07 PM (http://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o80/dieselphle/2012080295190338.jpg)
So this guy is trying to sell me these fogs for 75...I just need an educated opinion from you guys...I thought these wouldn't fit an 03 coupe? He says it will, that he's had them in his coupe for the past 4 years...does this seem legit? I don't want to get screwed! He's asking 75 for just the lights, no wires and etc....what do you guys think? Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Icebox on August 05, 2012, 07:46:52 PM those look like the jdm fogs that i have on my sedan, dont think they would work on a coupe. you can also get those for less $$ from alex.
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 05, 2012, 07:47:52 PM That's what I thought...I just wanted to hear it from someone else...
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: gargantula99 on August 05, 2012, 08:25:39 PM Why does it seem like those look narrower?
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 05, 2012, 08:27:55 PM I don't know, he swears they fit, he's sending me a picture of his coupe with them in it....
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Arielit0oo on August 05, 2012, 08:45:43 PM They don't fit for a Coupe at all... doesn't matter what year. Unless he magically hacked the shit out of his bumper which I highly doubt. It wouldn't be a simple install even if he did. Watch out for a photoshopped pic of the fogs on :D
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 05, 2012, 08:56:39 PM ....it's been a half hour and still no pic lol....
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: cna on August 05, 2012, 11:03:28 PM Unless he has a sedan bumper on his coupe they won't fit regular coupe bumper for that stick to OEM lookin ones and they would be cheaper and new
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Arielit0oo on August 05, 2012, 11:26:19 PM What cna said^
....it's been a half hour and still no pic lol.... Lol he's workin hard on that photoshop.Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 05, 2012, 11:34:10 PM Obviously bogus lol...someone should jump on this..i mean manufacture fogs like this for the coupe...i'd buy!
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: timot_one on August 06, 2012, 12:17:47 AM I'm interested in seeing these pics. Either way, the only other fog light option that I've seen was a guy using a CL/TL fog light back in the day. They weren't perfect, but it was a good fit. I have a set of the TL fog lights in my garage. If you want them to test fit, that's cool with me. If they fit we can work out a price. If they don't fit, you can just send them back. I know I'm never going to use them.
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 06, 2012, 10:31:19 AM He never sent a pic lol...your offer is most generous...realistically i shouldn't even be thinking about fog lights...

Post by: Icebox on August 06, 2012, 01:27:48 PM correct me if im wrong but the bottom pic is thien's car which has a 7.5 sedan bumper and in the top pic, the fog lights are upside down so they wouldnt even be focusing light in the right direction.
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 06, 2012, 01:31:21 PM Oh you tease! Of evil things you are made! ....going to go change pantalones...lol...
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: ikethegreat on August 06, 2012, 02:16:22 PM I think the bottom pic is the asean bumper actually.
But yeah the fogs in the top pic are mounted upside down. But who really installs fogs for the light output? Not trying to tease, just trying to show that it CAN be done on a coupe. Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 06, 2012, 02:28:11 PM I do love a good challenge ....ima do some homework....
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Icebox on August 06, 2012, 02:50:10 PM function over fashion, i installed the fogs for light output because there are deer everywhere were i live. having fog lights makes a big difference in spotting one of those fuckers jumping out of the woods and into the road.
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 06, 2012, 03:36:09 PM Guess i lean more towards fashion...the curse of being an artist...I see my car as a blank mechanical canvas ;D
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 06, 2012, 06:13:14 PM So here's a question...i've been talking to my friend Shaun and he gave me a crazy idea...I'm sure this would be expensive, but since I was planning on replacing the hood, the two fenders, the bumper and the lights, would it be possible to do a front end sedan conversion? To get the cool fogs without the misalignment and the gaps? You guys probably already covered this somewhere lol......
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Icebox on August 06, 2012, 07:26:17 PM yea, easy conversion, may be wrong but the only thing you would need is the bumper and a new grill.
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 06, 2012, 07:38:18 PM There's a gap under the headlights with a sedan bumper on the coupe, If the full conversion would solve that issue I would consider....
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: CrackerTeg on August 06, 2012, 08:39:29 PM Take a look at Thien's coupe. It has gaps and the conversion you're asking about.
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 06, 2012, 08:52:21 PM Looks like the pics aren't there anymore :( but I liked reading up on it...sucks the tranny was going....
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: MyNameIsThien on August 06, 2012, 09:06:23 PM Someone mentioned me???????????????????????????????????????????
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 06, 2012, 09:10:17 PM Yeah I was directed toward your car because I had a front end sedan conversion question...looks like you went down that road :)
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: MyNameIsThien on August 06, 2012, 11:44:05 PM What might your question be?
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: alpha on August 06, 2012, 11:54:59 PM Someone mentioned me??????????????????????????????????????????? surprised?!? ::) ;) :PYeah I was directed toward your car because I had a front end sedan conversion question...looks like you went down that road :) I believe there are some compromises, and Thien should be able to tell you what those are. What would be awesome, and would definitely be stepping up the game, is to take the shortfalls of what doesn't quite fit when putting the ASEAN sedan front bumper on a USDM coupe and modify the bumper to make it fit like stock; i.e. make it so any visible gaps aren't there anymore, make it so that mounting holes line up properly, etc.. Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 07, 2012, 12:23:44 AM Well it started with drooling over fog lights that I can't have, and then I was thinking crazy ideas like heating up the plastic on my current bumper (not painted yet) around the lights, to mold it to fit...and I talked to my friend who was like, "why not just convert the whole front to a sedan?" I thought this was crazy, and I read how some people came close...I was wondering if it was worth it, if it could be done, and fit perfect somehow....sorry...I don't want to beat a dead horse...lol
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: cna on August 07, 2012, 02:45:35 AM It will fit , I think the only issue with the sedan bumpers on the coupe is just the area by the grill and headlights might not line up 100%. which can be modified anyways
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Mike on August 07, 2012, 01:58:49 PM If your only after the dogs it would be easier to mod the fog holes... Good body shop could do it easily
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Icebox on August 07, 2012, 02:01:19 PM dogs? :D
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: CrackerTeg on August 07, 2012, 02:52:10 PM Dyslexic much?
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 07, 2012, 04:28:35 PM Dogs in my bumper? Like an organic horn? Naw...too much maintenance..i'd have to feed em and etc....lol jk! Mike that seems like a simpler solution!
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Mike on August 07, 2012, 09:23:56 PM Auto correct at its finest folks...
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 07, 2012, 09:32:16 PM I love auto correct! Lol
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: phunctional on August 07, 2012, 09:53:00 PM I remember things about the sedan bumper too. I can't remember specifically but I think the sedans bumper is slightly wider.
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: timot_one on August 07, 2012, 10:00:00 PM Correct. It would take quite a bit of body work to get a sedan bumper to fit properly. Not really worth it for fog lights IMHO.
Title: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: MyNameIsThien on August 07, 2012, 10:02:17 PM The sedan bumper is slightly wider while the coupe is slightly narrow. It will bolt up without any problems, and it does line up with all the holes. Its right where the grill and headlight corner is where the sedan bumper has a slight gap on a coupe body.
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 07, 2012, 10:11:02 PM I know....it's totally irrational...expensive...and probably never happen...but it's fun to talk about ;)
Title: Re: Re: Fog purchase....deal or no deal? Post by: Nit3h4wk C0uP3 on August 08, 2012, 12:45:54 PM I just requested a quote from Ultrashine...can't hurt to ask questions...
