The meet has been moved to my place.  We don't have enough cars to have a dyno day, and I really don't feel like bringing a shop that did a shitty tune on my car any more money.  Enough of you have tried hard to get me to cheer up about my car, so I'd like to invite all of you over to hang out.

we were trying to set up same thing here, shop that did my camber kit does this as well. it was $60 for 3 pulls. we just couldnt get enough ppl couse everybody was busy with school but maybe in summer. thanks for heads up Tim

I think it's worth it to have a fairly good sized meet with 10-20 cars, a BBQ, dyno pulls, and a 1/4 mile track to race on.  Maybe you don't want to drive all the way from NYC, but I know plenty of people that would make the trip.  I've driven down to NYC plenty of times for meets, so don't assume that people won't come.  It's cool if you're not interested in coming or don't want to make the drive, but don't take away from the thread by posting that you think it's too far.  Let everyone else make their own decision.

ive been wanting to do a track/dyno day for about 3 years now.

Okay guys, I've made a list of people that have shown an interest in this meet this summer.  I am also going to be updating the thread with a poll to find out which weekend works best for most people.  For those of you who want to make a weekend of it, we can have dyno day one day and a cruise/bbq on the other day.  There are a bunch of hotels in the area that are pretty cheap.

Tim all i was saying is that its quite a drive, im not trying to take anything away from your thread/meet or assume that no one from NYC will show up. Actually i think its a great idea to have a bbq/dyno/drag, i was merely stating my opinion, that is allowed here right? Also, never said i wouldnt be there was just saying that it would be a decent drive.

But it would be well worth it!  You know you want to come.

the way ive heard the dyno process described is no different from flooring it onto the highway. Its not like they hit your engine with a hammer, and besides, its a honda, it can take it. I've put 4 fat chics in my car and drove around on bumpy roads in the finger lakes region of upsate NY from winery to winery and my girl pulls just as strong as the day i bought her. (actually more cause of tha mods n stuff but you know what i mean)

I'm definitely considering this. And since you're talking about doing a bbq, I can probably bring the fam out for this. I'm sure the wife would like to take the trip just to get off this rock. I think mid June would give me plenty of time to set it up on my end.

The shop actually sets up the BBQ, but I'm going to talk to them and see if they're cool with us bringing additional food.  We could make it a weekend meet and do a dyno day on Saturday and a BBQ on Sunday.

Let me know If thats the plan I'd get a hotel in the area, and bring the other half if it's going to be a weekend thing.

I just got off the phone with Dave at ESP and he was very cool and very accomodating.  For anyone that wants to come just to hang out and not dyno your car, you are definitely welcome.  I was wrong about the 1/4 mile thing though.  They don't have a track, but set up 1/4 mile runs on their dyno so we can set up some sort of bracket racing if you guys want a little friendly competition.

I'll post to show interest in this, but sometime in April the whole scheduling system is changing at my job. I won't know what my shifts will be until a few weeks from now, so I can't commit to anything yet.

Steve - The only ill-effects (if you want to call them that) on the car are since it gets run pretty hard on the dyno, it'll eat up some gas.  Also, after I completed my dyno, my abs light was on, but that was because the front tires were moving but the rears weren't so the car was like "wtf?".  Once I drove a bit, though, the light went off.

Tim - I figured that the 1/4 mile thing had to be on the dyno and not a real track.  That's how the place in RI does their 1/4 mile "races" as well.  I guess they print you out a ficitonal time sheet and junk.

I wonder how much time they give you between pulls? Enough to change an intake?

When I spoke to Dave yesterday, he seemed pretty cool about it all and was very accomodating about small details for the meet.  If we have close to 20 cars, there may not be enough time to change intakes since they are on a schedule.  They may also be able to allow you time if there aren't a lot of people to dyno, but we need to have at least 10 cars to do a dyno day.  I think it all comes down to talking to the guys there and seeing what they can do.

I'd just like to see the increase because I don't think there have been many before and afters.

sounds like a lot of fun, i can do any of the days EXCEPT 6/13 (which seems to be the most popular one right now).  im heading to AC that weekend for some shenannigans, but any of the other weekends are good.

how does the 1/4 mile on a dyno work?  typically the tech drives your car on the dyno so would they drive your car on the 1/4 mile "track" too?

Okay guys, everyone vote for what day you want to come up for it.  I have some other friends that are willing to fill up empty spots if we don't have 10 cars to go on the dyno.  I'm going to leave the poll open for the next 2 weeks.  I'm going to the shop to talk to the owners and set up the dyno day after I get back from FL, so whatever day has the most votes will be scheduled.

I thought I saw that they had a bike dyno on their site the first time I looked, but I can't seem to find any info.  I will talk to them about this when I go there to check out the shop.  A couple of my friends from work are thinking about bringing their bikes also.



As I said before, I'm open on all the days I posted.  I just figured the 13th would be the best since it was the latest date.  The 6th is cool with me also.  I'm sure that other guys that have both weekends free would be able to shift things around.  I'd rather move it to the 6th to have you make it out for this Justin.  



It will not be 7th Gen specific, but ECM members get priority for dyno pulls.  We need at least 10 cars to do the dyno day, but they can only do 20 cars in a day.  We should get a list of people that are definitely coming.

I'm going to start a list for people that are coming for the dyno and just for the BBQ.  Please copy and paste the entire list when you repost and I will update this in the OP when I have time.  If you want to dyno your car, please put "dyno" after your name.  If you are only going to show up for the meet and BBQ, please put "BBQ" after your name.

On their site, if you click on "AWD Dyno" on the left menu, it mentions that the dyno can do bikes.  And fyi, the place uses a Mustang Dynamometer, which procudes more conservative numbers than a DynoJet (so I was told when I did mine).

Guys I am sorry to say that I have had to contract an event that will take place on June 13, 2009 “Jose, Jose Concert” This just happened this morning.  So I am so sorry to say that the date now will not work for me. After reviewing the master calendar of events I have no free weekends either.   WTF!!! Talk about modern slavery!!!

Mike, they can do exhaust there.  I'm going to actually talk to them about doing my mufflers.  It may be worth your while to see if you can do a dyno run, have them fab up your exhaust and install your intake, then do another dyno run.

I can't pay someone to install my intake... It's to easy to pay to have done.

Yes, it says so on their website.  They seem to do a lot of work there at the shop actually.  When I talked to Dave, he was telling me about a K24/K20 build they were doing for an RSX.


I'm going to reset the poll so we can add some additional weekends and so I can re-vote for 6/6.  I have also changed it so that people can change their votes if they would like.  Everyone that has already voted for a day, please vote again.

Tim, My AFC-Neo is tuned pretty well at this point, do you know if they are good with this unit, i'm at 213 WHP and 201 WTQ would love to see if its possible to extract a few more HP out of her  

I know that they have a KPro tuner, but you'd have to call them about tuning the AFC you have.  Try talking to Dave, the guy I spoke to, and mention that you would be coming up for a dyno day and would like to see if they can also dyno tune your AFC.

Can you guys please post whether you want to dyno your car or not.  I'd need to get a better idea of who is going to be dynoing their cars for 2 main reasons.  
1. If we don't have enough people to make the 10 cars, then this meet will be cancelled.
2. If we have to invite other people to dyno their cars that day, I don't want to tell them they can't because people "showed up" to dyno without letting me know ahead of time.

If you plan on dynoing your car, please put it on the list after your name.  People who have already informed me that they want to dyno their car will get priority.  If I do not know in advance that you want to dyno your car, you will be put on the "standby" list.


It doesn't look like he will be able to make it at all based on this.

Going to ESP on Saturday to check the shop out.

Went to ESP today and spoke with Dave, who seems to be the owner.  June 20th is not an option any more because they are booked that weekend.  The 6th and the 13th are still open.  So far, only 6 people have voted.  I am going into ESP on the 8th to get some work done, so all votes must be submitted by midnight on Tuesday the 7th.  I am clearing the poll for everyone to re-vote because a lot of people's plans have changed.  If nobody votes, then I'm just going to choose June 6th because I want Justin to be able to make it out to this meet.

Just an update guys.  I had to reschedule my appointment at ESP for Thursday the 9th.  Voting will end on the 8th around 6:00 pm.  Please vote before then because I am setting up the meet with the shop and getting the dyno time this Thursday.  As of now, it looks like the meet will be on Saturday, June 6th.

I also need a list of who is coming and who is getting dyno'd and who is only coming for the BBQ.  If you're coming for the BBQ only, you'll need to pitch in some money to the shop for the food.  You are also more than welcome to bring along soda and chips and anything else you may want to have.

Back on topic now.  I spent today at ESP because they were doing my exhaust.  Compared to the last exhaust shop, they did an awesome job on my new set up.  You can just see the difference in the pictures I will post in a little bit.  It took a lot longer than I expected, but that was because Dan, the person doing my exhaust, took his time and was extremely meticulous with my exhaust.  Even though I wasn't happy with the first conversation I had with their tuner, I am willing to give them a second chance because I was so pleased with the work they did on my car today.  I also finalized that our dyno day will be on Saturday, June 6th.  If anyone is planning on staying up here the entire weekend, we will probably do something on Sunday the 7th also.

Just a bump for this meet.  If you haven't signed up, do it right now.  I have been talking to the owner at ESP a lot lately for parts and an upcoming tuning session.  We are on the books for the meet on Saturday, June 6th.  I will be picking up some parts there tomorow, so if you guys have any questions, ask them now.  We should try and also start setting up our pre-meet plans pretty soon as far as people caravaning together and if you guys want to meet up at my place before the meet.

I'm actually wondering what the guys in NYC are going to be doing. My happy ass is deep in Long Island, so I really would like to not roll solo (not including my family in that, I meant one car). If I have to, fuck it, you know?

I'll get a time from them tomorrow when I pick up my parts.  The owner and shop manager will be there so I can ask any questions.

Well I'm pretty sure Chino, Steve, Arie, Myself, Billy and whomever will meetup with me in/around New Rochelle since its right on the way, just gotta coordinate times is all.  Jonathan I'm sure you could meet them somewhere in Queens/Brooklyn and roll up here, where ill join you guys and we can roll as a group up there.  Besides always more fun to roll in packs/caravans and safer too, just in case someone has a breakdown, etc.  Also on that note, we should probably have basic tools with us for this length trek (Jack/Lug wrench, basic tools just in case we have one or more people run into an issue).  I will take the lead to setup the caravan from my area as it is likely the starting point for the bulk of our trip.

E.G if we are shooting to be in there by, lets say, Noon, we should probably try to be out of my neck of the woods by about 8 AM (roughly 3:30-4 hour trip eah way)

Sorry fellaz, but like I had said in the other thread, I'm not gonna be able to make it out to this meet on Saturday. Something came up and I gotta head to FL next week and won't be getting back till Sat night. I hope I didn't screw up the list or anything.

Thanks Z.  The numbers aren't looking too hot right now.  If we don't get 10 cars the dyno will be cancelled and the meet will be moved to my place.  I will be talking to the shop tomorrow about this, but there are quite a few people that committed to the dyno and then backed out.  I expect the amount of NYC people coming up to drop if there is no dyno.  Everyone is still welcome to come if interested in a non-dyno meet.  Here's the current attendance list:

I will have the final word on the dyno this Saturday when I speak to the owner of ESP.  Until then, lets just assume that we will still dyno our cars until I say otherwise.

I'm still doing this. I've already commited to it especially considering I convinced my wife to go. Rain/ shine, dyno/ no dyno, I'm there.

Either way, it will be a good time.  I am trying to talk to a few other local shops to see if they do dyno events also, in case this falls through.

Well, it is a little more complicated than that.  I will fill you guys in after I talk to Dave, the owner of ESP.  I'm not going to start projecting the outcome right now, so assume you will be dynoing your cars unless I say something else.  I will be talking to another shop tonight up in Pelham, NH when I go up there.  If he is not racing that weekend, we may move the dyno meet up there if we cannot do it at ESP.

Tim what shop are you going to in Pelham? Depending on what time, I could meet you over at the shop. I live about ~3 min from pelham

I was just curious what the shop in pelham had to say about dyno days, not what the final word on THIS dyno day was. Until yesterday I was unaware this shop even existed lol

I did not have the opportunity to talk to them about a dyno day last night.  Too many things going on and I was unhappy with the results.  The shop in Pelham was great though.  They were knowledgable and informative about my car and my tune.  I have not talked to the owner of ESP yet, but I will be talking to him today or tomorrow.

Okay guys, I still haven't talked to the shop about not having enough cars to dyno and on another personal matter.  At this point, I would say that it's a 50/50 chance we will dyno our cars.  I can understand that some people may not be interested in that, so if you want to back out because you really wanted to dyno your car, I understand.  For those of you that want to come out for a regular old meet, all are welcome at my place and we will probably cruise the area for some rolling shots.

I already know my numbers from my new tune from about two monthes ago, I was just going to put my car on the dyno to see if the Apex'i AFC Neo really does detune itself over time, But I'll be coming up there regardless myself, I love being able to hear my car at full roar on the dyno, always makes my day, but its something I've done many times so if we do it I'm in, if not, no big deal.  

Tim, lets say the Dyno/shop visit doesn't go through, what time would you like us to arrive at your place?

If we don't dyno our cars, you guys can show up any time after 11 AM.  There's no need for people to show up early to hang out.  Lobsters are kinda cheap right now, so we can do a lobster boil and maybe grill up some food.  I will be calling the shop tomorrow, since they are closed today.  I will definitely have an answer by tomorrow.

Keep us posted this week as to the status on the Dynoing itself, as it will probably affect our roll out time for Saturday.

You guys will know by tomorrow if I can get a hold of a shop owner.

Just an update, I'm trying to get a hold of Dave at ESP right now, but haven't been successful.  Anyway, I'll keep you guys updated.

Since there are more people that have backed out, I'm cancelling this meet.  We barely have half the people needed for the dyno and my car isn't running right either.  I really see no point in having a meet now.  Unless you guys can convince me that it's worth having a meet, I would rather spend the time fixing my car.

Shit, that is what I would do, listen there will be other days and I know we will have this meet before the end of this summer.  So do what you have to do Tim to get your car running as it should.  I too have tons of work that I need to get done on the car and every dollar saved will be put to use.

Honestly, I'm not going to be planning any more meets and I see no reason to dyno my car.  I won't be very active any more since I'm going to focus my efforts and money on something else from now on.  In short, I'm getting out of modding my car and away from the forum.

Again, I can relate with you because when is enough, enough? Your car looks bad ass already.  However, this site/forum needs you and I am more than sure the current members will be more than willing to assist you with the operational expenses of this site.  What I would hate to see happen here is a lack of content control as in other sites.  EliteCM.net was and is the best database for all information of the 7th generation Accord and we need to have respect for the work put in.

Tim of course I cant tell you how to live your life but I def dont think you should give up the scene.  I mean it's obvious that this is something you love doing. Dont let a few setbacks make you up and quit.  With everything else in life you're always gonna run into hurdles but that doesnt mean you give up or quit.  Step away and take a break but dont just ditch it. When work gives you a hard time you step away or take a vacation, when relationships get sticky you take a walk or something so kinda think of this as the same.  You hit a rough patch so just take a break from modding or whatever, you put a lot of time in here so I can only imagine how much time you put into your car. Just take a break.

im new here and i want to have a meet with you guys but i couldn't do it this saturday because i am going to a concert and i didn't know about it till last week. but i would deff be down with doing something. i have every sunday off.

Dude, just take a step back for a little and return when your ready. Remember a true love for tuner never dies and from what I've learned from some of these guys and from reading the threads you put a lot into this thing and that's real. If you postpone the meet no biggie just let us know when you're ready. You provide the venue and I'll bring a few cases of whatever beer you're drinking, hamburgers, hotdogs, LOBSTERS...I'm sure we can all pitch in right fellas?

Wow, the one day I was too busy to check this forum until I get home, and this all happens.  

Tim I completely understand the stresses your going through, when shit just isn't working out right with parts/the car/shops, etc. it can be the worst freaking ride.  I agree with taking a break and getting the car figured out.  I would be willing to help in any way I possibly could man...  You have definitley helped me with several issues on my car, the least I could do is offer the helping hand back.  

Take how ever much time you need.  If its a financial matter, I'd be willing to pitch in.  If you need someone to cover costs to run these forums, I can definitley contribute or take over that in your absense, just let me know, call, text, whatever, you know how to get me if you need it.  Regardless, take time for yourself, life is definitley a bitch at times and as they say when it rains, it pours (as evidenced by myself needing new tires, axles and alignment last month when the car felt fine two days earlier)

Okay guys.  If you want to roll out here for a low key meet, I'll host.  My car is not running properly, so I am going to drive as little as possible and it will probably remain parked the entire time.  No questions about my car.  Show up at around noon and we'll just grill up some grub and take it easy.  I can't do any work on my car this weekend anyway.

Don't feel too bad, my cars alternator, and water pump are TOAST (went to start it for the first time in 2 days), my PS Pump started to whine and a dead battery, so it will be undergoing heart surgery Friday...I may or may not have my Accord, but I'm willing to trek up there in my backup car.

Edit:  If by some miracle of god they finish it, I have my Takata Harness here with me, anyone game to install a 4 Pt Harness with me on Saturday?

Okay things are looking good once again...   Well since the only major event happening this coming weekend is my Friends birthday party I don’t think he would be mad if I did not show up.  Personally I don’t want to go to it So I will use the BBQ meet as my excuse.  

I will see you all this Saturday around noon.   I have to go and change my oil before hitting the road and maybe bringing an extra wheel as a spare since I don’t have one in the car now…

They sell lobster by the pound.  The last time I saw prices, it was $5.99 a lb.  I would assume that price is for chicken lobsters (up to 1.25 lbs).  Above that is usually another $1 per lb for 1.25-3 lbs, and then another dollar for 3 lbs and up.  Market price fluctuates though, so I really don't know what the price is going to be this Saturday.  If anyone is interested in getting lobster, you can PM me about it.

All I can say is keep your head up Tim. You are the pillar of this community, and we would all miss you if you were gone. Things will go your way in the end because you deserve it!

Thanks Mike.  For everyone else, Mike brought up a good point.  Since it's just going to be us hanging out at my place and there will be some grilling going on, I'd like to mention that you are all welcome to bring whatever you want to eat.  For the people that have to travel longer distances, there are two grocery stores around the corner from me, so you don't need to lug up a bunch of food.  On top of that, there is a seafood place that is about 15 minutes away from my place that sells lobsters and other stuff.  You don't need to bring anything, but it would be appreciated if you did.  I will do my best to accomodate everyone, but if you have a favorite soda or food, bring it.

I now need to schedule up with the guys here to see the final road plan.  I’m hoping for the guys to swing around my parts of the woods to pick me up and then hit the highway since they would have to drive by my way or close to it anyway.

Tim I'm glad to see you had a change of heart.  I can relate to your ongoing frustrations though.  I've probably reached that end-point with my car at least a dozen times since I've owned it with all the shit that goes on with it, but in the end, you take it easy for a bit and rethink the game plan.  I'm sure that with the crap you've gone through with your project and the shop, and the fact that the car hasn't run right for weeks, your dissatisfaction is justified.  Hell, I'd be surprised if any shop in New England knew what the hell they were doing with a Honda.  But to me, if the car becomes an obsession that runs your life and your bank account, than you have to step back for a bit.  So, just a local meet makes sense.  Last time I checked, it didn't cost much to hang out.

I should have been more clear about it, but if anyone has any questions here's the plan.  The actual meet is on Saturday, June 6th.  People are welcome to show up to my place any time after 9 AM, but things will get rolling around 12 noon.  For anyone that is going to be staying in the area, there seems to be a few people that will be hanging out on Sunday also, so people are welcome to hang out that day too.

you know how the shitstorm works tim, when it rains it pours.  take a breather and things will work out.  i hit a wall last year (monetary and frustration wise) and havent touched my car since, except for the neuspeed sway which didnt exactly go as planned either.

There aren't too many pictures of the waving monkey because after we did the rolling shots, Arie and Piero went to get a hotel room.  Piero "took a nap", but Arie came back to my place.  We didn't hear from Piero until 11 PM even though we called him every hour.

Tim if I didn't mention it enough times yesterday, I had a great time hanging out yesterday afternoon and evening, thank you and your g/f for being so hospitable.  Dave and Rich, glad I saw you guys before you left.  Justin and Mike, sorry I missed you guys - I got their around 4:30 PM, another day I'm sure.

On a side note: I saw a horrific accident around 2:20 AM on I-95, like 8 or 9 cars involved, some were really bad, that is why people shouldn't drink, I'd bet you one or more of the drivers involved wqas under the influence based on what I saw from a distance, just glad I was about 1/4-1/2 mile back and was easily able to avoid any issues.  I got home around 3:20 AM.

I'm not familiar with everyone's cars yet, but who is the one with the mesh grill with the Accord badge on it? That looks really sweet. Now I'm tempted to take the badge off the back of my car and throw it on my OEM grill lol. It'd probably look bad though.

No.  I haven't been able to do any troubleshooting yet.  I am still waiting for parts to arrive and also for Cham to come back to town.  Until then, I'm dead in the water.

The only reason why I would miss that is if I'm fixing my car.

I noticed that too, but didn't want to say anything.  There was a quarter wash down the street from me if you wanted to wash your car.  I had plenty of wet paint and other detailing products too.  All you had to do was ask.

Yeah, it does.  It's pretty nice to have a 309 rwhp 2 seater.  It pulls pretty hard, and he wasn't even driving it hard.  It's not as scary as Cham's car though.

Oh, my bad, I only had a glimpse at the engine bay....but come to think of it I didn't hear any blow off valves or whistling when we were driving.

Really?  You can hear the supercharger whine at idle.  He does have a blow off valve also.  It's a centrifugal type supercharger, so he has an intercooler, instead of an aftercooler like roots type superchargers use.  That's also the reason why most people would confuse it with a turbo, since they look identical from the compressor side.
