Title: Exhaust Buildup Post by: Jeff Likes Bagels on May 24, 2011, 08:55:03 PM I had a really hard time trying to find something that was already posted about this, so I figured that I would post a new thread.
Anyways, I had just got my car on Sunday. It runs perfectly fine. However, yesterday, I swapped exhaust tips. The one that I took off was fairly dirty, with some black buildup on it. When I put the new one on, which was perfectly clean, it had already gotten a complete black layer of buildup on it within hours of driving the car. Should I be worried about this? My old car produced absolutely no buildup, so I was concerned when I noticed how much this one put out. If needed, I can take a picture in the morning when there is light out to show you guys. Good luck finding out whats wrong. Hopefully it's not a big issue.

It probably didn't get driven often or run often enough on the lot, and this could have allowed some moisture into the exhaust etc. In short give it a week and see if it gets better.
