This morning while fishing a tournament, my phone was bombarded with phone calls and text messages asking if I was alright. I was flustered for a moment  >:Duntil I received a phone call from my mother. She was on shift today and called to tell me that two officers had been shot. The first was Sgt Tim Chapin , a 27 year veteran of the Chattanooga police department was shot in his vehicle and killed. Chapin was a good friend of my parents, my dad was his field training officer when he first started with the department.  The second, Lorin Johnston, also a friend of my family and a personal friend of mine was shot twice, once in the back, protected by his vest, the second in the leg. Lorin will survive his injuries but it is still serious. If you guys could add the family of Sgt Chapin and of Lorin Johnston as well as the Chattanooga police department to your prayers. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys, I'm still a bit distraught. I did however learn the Lorin was released from the hospital and may have not been shot in the leg by where the bullet hit him in the vest may have hotcakes disk

Thanks guys, I've not been able to take my mind off of the situation. And it really kills me that with the new city finance changes since he is injured on duty the city will be paying him 75% of his salary, after 6 months he will be dropped down to 65% and aftercare year be forced on do disability if he cannot return to work due to injury sustained

Mike, sorry for your loss man.  Its a shame that our men serving and protecting us, here and abroad, whether M or P get shafted like that while injured in the line of duty.  Things like politics involved with things that they shouldn't be are what has ruined this country.  My thoughts and prayers are out with you and your family's friends...

Sorry to read this mike.  Stories like this always make me worried about my sister because she's a cop in NC.  She had this happen to her a couple years ago, one of her buddies from the academy was shot and killed, and her trainer was injured in the same incident.  Such a terrible thing to have happen.  My thought are with you and their families.  Keep yourself safe as well bro.

I got lots of friends/family that are cops...when shit like this happens, you just gotta take it hour by hour, not even day by day...but you'll get there.  Just say to yourself, "ok, made it through that hour...on to the next..."
