Title: Screeching/high pitch sound while accelerating Post by: Silver Bullet on January 08, 2011, 01:20:29 PM Hey guys, this morning while accelerating, my car started making a high pitch screeching sound and it stops when I shift into the next gear but it starts again until I shift. It will pretty much start at 2,000 rpm and up. It just started doing this today and does not sound normal. Could anyone tell me what it could possibly be? It's a 2006 v6 6 speed with 87k miles.

I had the same issue on my other car, changed the belt, still did it. Come to find out it was the tensioner pulley. I just bought this car. The last owner may not have changed it. Thanks for the help slipkord. Btw, how much did it cost to have your belt replaced?
