A huge group of S2ks are making a trip up to dragon April 15-17. For those of you who haven't been or heard of it. It's a great experience. Just putting this out there in case someone wants to show up.  :)

I've been wanting to conquer the dragon for years.  This is an extreme road not for the faint of heart.

I went on a harley bagger...Very fun but it's almost suicide to take it out there. With the amount of idiots who travel that road. Not to mention the truckers. I had fun scraping the boards at ever corner lol


This will be my third time around. Def not for the faint of heart. You have to always keep one eye on everyone else. It's def going to be a blast. Log cabin + fellow S2kers + curves = total pwnage  :D


Now I just have to con the wifey into going with me. 8+hrs (plus all the seat time up there) in the s2k will be a bitch but that's part of the fun.

Awesome!!  David is coming now.  It looks like the wifey is on board for making the trip.  So that makes 3 of us now.  This could turn out to be a damn good time. 

Don't speed on the dragon.  THP makes a living at writing tickets to those driving 32 in a 30 on the dragon.

I've known about the dragon for ears and been wanting to go but work always gets in the way. Maybe I'll be able to make it in 2012. Hmmm.

Radar detectors are legal in TN, but they don't help you much when THP hides in the shrubs around the plethora of blind corners.  Instant on is a kill joy.

Weird. My Uncle drove a part of it last year on his Triumph Daytona and he said that hp wouldn't even patrol it because it's too dangerous for them to chase. Who knows though.

I'm sure the drive will be fun no matter what.  It's fun to go fast, but they have posted speed limits for a reason.  I'd rather be safe and enjoy the drive.

I'll be going crazy with painters tape. Since s2ks paint chip so easily. Except some crazy shit  :D

Dude, Honda paint in general chips easy. I would've done the same for my cross country trips but the paint was already chipped as it was.

I have road wrap.  If you take the time to apply it properly, it looks half decent.  I'm probably going to either rock my USDM bumper, or my ASEAN bumper with road wrap.  Hopefully it will be painted and on the car by then.

Fuck them, for lack of better words. I would have more fun hanging with you guys for free. when it gets closer to the date well setup an itinerary or something. So many roads up there, tons to do.

Trust me, rod run plus a dragon run will be plenty to do.  Now as far as lodging, I can get a 2 bedroom condo for 75 a night that sleeps 6 and we can bend that a little if we be sneaky sneaky about it

I'm into the condo thing.  We should try and make that happen.  I'm all for just hanging out and having a good time and taking a nice drive.

yea big mike! good idea with the condo, that makes this trip even more appealing.

Maybe we should try and get a list of people that are coming so we can get the condo thing figured out.  If it's more than 6 people, the extra people will have to make other accommodations.  If it's me and Robyn, Jer, Mike, and David, we would have room for one more person.

I would be down. It wouldn't be any fun though if I brought my car. Maybe Jeremy can pick me up on the way up north?

If I don't take my wife I dont mind Bill. I dont know if it would be quicker but your more than welcome to drive to my house and leave your car there and we can jet up north from there. Either or.

I posted on the s2k site and said I won’t be registering but I’ll still be up there, waiting on the flamage to begin. Those guys are paying $95 a person to sit around and BS and ‘ride in a pack’…I’ll take my $95 and buy it on booze for you guys thank you very much.

I'm going to bow out of the current conversation and take things back on track.  Since we're not really doing the s2ki thing, what do you guys want to do instead?  We can basically make our own agenda at this point.  Mike, does the condo have a grille?

Isn't this usually a LARGE gathering of people and vehicles? The Integra forum I once was a member of years ago had made the Dragon tail a yearly event as well and IIRC, it was about the same time this one is going down.

Yes, both our condo and the sister resort(ours is in pigeon forge, sister resort is in gatlinburg and more secluded) I haven't stayed at the sister resort in a while but if I remember right it was more spacious.  If you guys want to look them up, ours is oakmont resort, and the sister resort(which I can get for same price) is tree tops resort

If that's true, Z, there are many many other roads we can drive on. Devils Triangle, Cherahala Skyway…over 100+ miles of cruisin fun

What I failed to mention, is that during rod run, it is like a mardi gras* for us poor people, We use to go and all pile in the back of a truck passing out beads for tits... but with that, you are stuck in traffic for hours on end, but from our condo you can walk to the strip. but once you get to the mountain and get past gatlinburg(approx. 5mi up the mountain from pigeon forge) the roads clear up. Also, I know a few of the local backroads to get in and out of the city.

Also, if anyone is interested, I can bring some fishing gear, the trout fishing up there is pretty good..

Now, with Oakmont, I know for a fact, they have round the clock security that patrols the parking lot, and is more convenient as far as going out and doing things

I'm with Tim on this one, if they are gonna be that dickish, I would rather not associate with them in general.

I definitely will have to talk to my parents about going, mainly because it is the week before exams, but I don't see why they won't let me. I could skip my last class that Friday and be in Mobile by 1:00, or I could skip both of my classes that day and be there when ever. I'll check some flights and see if I can just fly directly into Mobile. That might cut out 2 hours.

There is a direct flight, but it's going to be $500. I'd rather drive and spend that on tits and blow.

I suggest you haul your beverage of choice with you.  TN has one of the highest alcohol taxes in the country ... at least in the south east I'm told.  I may do a pop in, but wouldn't stay the night.  Life may bring me to Asheville that weekend anyways.

Honestly, This is the type of response I expect from people who drive S2000's.  I stereotype type them as stuck up douche bags.  Jeremy, you're the only exception that I know of.  Truly a good hearted person you are.  Oh and I agree with Z.  Tell them you're going up with a group of friends that are more like family.

On the contrary, one of my best friends has a nice S2K and he's one of the nicest guys ever.  It's easy to stereotype certain types of people.  It sucks that the S2K owners on that forum seem to be giant douchebags.  It sucks that they just can't be cool about it.  Fuck 'em.  It's their loss.

Let's get back on topic then and forget about the douches.

BOT: from looking at the floorplans, the resort we own at looks a little bit better, there would be plenty of room for an air mattress plus depending on where they put us we  would be able to easily exceed the 2 car limit of parking, some kid with a prelude that works there was all over my car the last time I was there, the only thing he asked for in exchange was he got to tell people it was his haha(he asked if he could)

When I first mentioned it, she was into the idea of going.  Now it's a different story.  I'll know if she's coming by the time we firm up plans for everything.

I did sum figerin and if we split the cost of the condo five way it would be thirty two dollars a piece if the tax is what I believe it is. It comes to 163 and some change so I'm gonna eat the three extra bucks and change to make it much less of a hassle on everyone else

Bump! Almost 2 months away. When time gets closer we can set a date, we dont necessarily have to do the same time the S2ks are up there, that was just a date I stuck up there.
