Title: 2nd annual East Coast mega meet in VA BEACH JULY 9th- ?

New location is in Virginia Beach, VA. I would encourage everyone to come. The first mega meet was a great time so we must do it again! Eeryone is welcome to join us. People agreed on July 10th. If you want to come earlier that is cool also. I was thinking on Saturday we could BBQ at my house or at a park somewhere close and then take a nice cruise down some sweet roads to Sandbridge. Chill there for a lil bit and then head back. Party saturday night at some spots down at the strip. Motorworld is close to the beach also and they have those fast go-karts. Throw ideas out there!!

Well I think we can still keep the week dates open because even though most people are only staying a couple days it could be a variety of couple days. Know what I mean.... And I know Ash and I should be down for a party night in VA beach as of right now.

I know with us we wouldn't be able to get down until like the 24th or 25th because I am teaching summer school again for the first half which begins April 14 until June 23rd. So we are a maybe still

VA Beach or OBX is cool with me... What has been planned as far as a place for everyone to stay... It would probably be cheaper(cheaper than the house idea from g7a) if i got a condo thru the govt employee travel agency i can get a whol week for 400 or less.

^i dont think it's a good idea for the house anymore, since the big switch, everyone seems to have backed out of the meet. or can only make it for a few days at a time.. it may be more beneficial to make your own lodging arrangements.. especially since you have a good deal on a condo.

but we need more people to chime in on this and see if people are down for VA beach, because if that's the case, i'm there for a few days at LEAST.

I agree with Brian. This meet has been a procrastination nightmare since the idea was first started, and the hotels are not going to book themselves. We need to start a true head count of meet attendees, or not have a mega meet at all.

If we actually hammered out some dates thatd be cool I mean Id rather do VA beach as well! Not really up on the Myrtle thing cuz of price and its more of a Vacation spot! Then again we could go in the opposite direction and hit up Ocean City! But either way put me on the list Bob!!

About 1.5 hours give or take just because where Ashley and I live we're about 30-40 minutes away from 95.

Actually I was way off. I just mapquested from our house to one of the VA Beach zip codes(23450) and it's saying 3.5 hours with total distance being 203 miles. BobsK24 should be able to give me a realistic time cuz he lives there and when he's come down to some of our meets he's been only about 10 minutes from our house.

VA beach isn't off of 95... from where you're coming from misha, the trip is 95-->295-->64.. and then just follow the signs..

D, how is it 3.5 hours from you??? it takes me 4 hours to get there.. and about an hour and a half to get to your house.. you should be closer than 3.5 hours.

either way, i'm down for VA beach for a few days. i wont have to pay for a hotel that way.

That trip for me would take around 7 hours or so but my issue is that I cannot leave the city until Friday night and personally I don’t know if it’s worth the drive to only be able to spend one day out there.

zip code for where my parents live in virginia beach is 23464. My zip code is 23320. Derrick is about 3.5 hours from me. So lets just say about 4 hours from D.C. Ok....so lets do it in VA beach and we can do whatever. Hotels are going to average anywhere between 50-150 bucks a night. What weekend does everyone wanna do this?

IMO VA is pretty far for the FL guys. Probably farther than OBX is for the North East guys (which there are less of...sorry guys...)

And last year's meet was pretty much done the planning stages by January 08. We're in March now guys, +1 to JT, mega meet gets organized now or doesnt happen

still cant tell you if i'm there or not til I know if it's before the 27th.

PhillySteve, i agree with you.. i think due to the lack of real organization this mega meet probably won't really happen other than most of the north east guys meeting up. VA beach is very convenient for the entire MDVACM squad, and PADENJ. but you're right, it's pretty far for FLCM.. if there wasn't the stupid switch over from G7A in the beginning of the year, i think we would have had a better turn out, and we'd be in OBX instead of VA beach.. but everything got really screwed up.

and Bob, when is the meet actually taking place?? we need solid dates to be able to plan off of.

Town center has good ass bars. Its about 15 minutes from the ocean front. The ocean front has numerous bars all around and then there is shore Dr. which is about 5-10 minutes from beach which has some good bars. Everyone throw some dates out there so we can get this planned!!! We can even push it back past June if need be.

^ that one would be good but if I have to teach the second half of summer school we won't be able to make it either until later on the 26th adn then leave early on the 28th. When it was supposed ot be a week long we were going to come in the middle of the week from the evening of the 23rd to the 25th and be back in time for me to work if needed be. Don't change the weekend just for us if its not good. The 24th we would be pretty much alone that evening since it is out 3rd year anniversary as well if it were to happen during the week as well.

Not sure if we can do it or not. We were already thinking of coming down in June when it was the originial dates to hang out with our friends and have alone time away from work and all but that was going to be June 23 (afternoon) and then back home by June 26th. The 24th is our anniversary so that was what were going to do. Not sure if we are or not all depends on what happens with court crap and all.

Dude lets stick with July because if we move this back any further its not even gonna be a summer meet! I was cool with the late June dates but I know a lot cant do that,... mmmm,.. July 9th and what do we have planned for this one anyways? and has anyone posted this on Gen7.2?

We have a lot of drinking and a lot of partyin planned....I was thinking about BBQ and maybe head to the indoor Kartin place. Dinwiddie isnt too far away, bout 1.5 hours so we could do that one night for test and tune if people are down.

Things have changed, and I'm not sure if I can make it or not. Definitely not on July 9th, since it's not the weekend. I may consider taking a long weekend from the 10th to the 12th if other people are planning on being around then. Is it official that this has now moved to VA Beach? That would be a bit easier for me since I have the furthest distance to travel.

we should all start getting on some specifics as far as what were going to do there and an updated check list since that time is getting closer. as well as an agreed date and time to get the best attendance as possible. PM possible attendees if you have to get them extra attention and such.

If this meet is still scheduled for the weekend of July 10th then that would be perfect for me and Gen. Gen and I are taking a small vacation with her family in Williamsburg from July 11th till July 16th. We could drop by on the 12th, it's about an 1.5 north of where we would be staying.

Wow this thread has had no action for a month. Anyways for those who get together have fun for me because I am going to miss this years (so called) mega meet.

If one is going to happen what needs to be looked at in detail first is a center location that would be within the same or close driving distance for all squads.

However, I would not mind driving down to Miami next summer. I could take a weeks vacation for that trip...
