Title: Need some input from the V6 folks Post by: DV8mAn on April 21, 2010, 10:14:06 AM Want to hear your thoughts on V6 reliability. I have the k24 and its been rock solid for 175,000 miles so far but I'm thinking about upgrading to an 07 J30. Will it handle the miles based on your experiences? Any insight would be appreciated, thanks.
Title: Re: Need some input from the V6 folks Post by: Mr Eazy on April 21, 2010, 10:17:39 AM I can't comment on the longevity because my baby just hit 45,000 miles. but up till now the engine his solid.
Don't forget thought that we've got HONDA'S they're built to last. Title: Re: Need some input from the V6 folks Post by: CrackerTeg on April 21, 2010, 10:45:00 AM Arie speaks the truth. Aside from my CM, i have an 01 TL with the J32 and that baby has hit 146K miles and has been all over the country. Multiple moves and cross country driving. She's still holding strong and with the original tranny no less. If you do bump to an 07, my suggestion is to go with the 6 speed as opposed to the auto. You won't be disappointed.

Tranny is supposed to be fixed in 7.5th gen.
Title: Re: Need some input from the V6 folks Post by: CrackerTeg on April 21, 2010, 11:18:19 AM Supposed to be but I haven't heard of anyone having the miles I have on the TL and reporting back no issues.
Title: Re: Need some input from the V6 folks Post by: JDMJNKY on April 21, 2010, 12:29:33 PM I'm happily going strong at 116k....no problems w/ either engine nor trans. I flush every 36k on the trans.
Title: Re: Need some input from the V6 folks Post by: v6sicksspeed on April 21, 2010, 12:47:32 PM im at 65K right now and haven't had a single problem with the motor or tranny. like arie said, these are hondas.

Title: Re: Need some input from the V6 folks Post by: DV8mAn on April 21, 2010, 04:58:12 PM Thanks guys! Appreciate the input. Now I just have to find the K24 a good home and I'm set for the exchange!
Title: Re: Need some input from the V6 folks Post by: timot_one on April 21, 2010, 05:02:18 PM You getting a new car, or just the motor? I hope the V6 is a MT. Those things are awesome.

I know, I know ... my heart wants a stick, but my brain, wife, and life insurance policy want an automatic. My heart loses this round. Title: Re: Need some input from the V6 folks Post by: slipkord on April 21, 2010, 08:05:21 PM Are you going to mod it Jason?
Title: Re: Need some input from the V6 folks Post by: CrackerTeg on April 21, 2010, 08:13:31 PM That's a must! Can't leave a Honda stock for too long. The bug is sure to bite.

Definitely no suspension upgrades .. my back is bad enough as it is. It will feel sooo much more powerful than I'm used to. I'll enjoy that for a while first. My friend just got a 07 EX-L V6 today and I just got back from driving it around for an hour... Honestly, I was disappointed with the power. I am used to really powerful cars but having driven my K24 almost everyday I figured I would be surprised. It did, however, feel much more refined. I couldn't feel the ac compressor turn on and it wasn't buzzy like ours. It's a nice upgrade, but don't expect amazing things, with the auto at least. |
