Title: Another d[st]ealership run-in
Post by: mitchigan on February 22, 2010, 03:21:41 PM
This past weekend I went to my local dealership to price match a set of OEM headlights w/prices from majestic honda. The head of the parts dept tells me he cant do it because there are no references to honda part numbers on my printout, majestic uses product ref. #'s instead. we go about arguing this point for a good five minutes with me even showing him on my phone that the 33101-sda whatever number querries up the OEM headlights, but he says they could be selling crap in honda's name w/out a real honda part number on the invoice. so i tell him i'm only there to support local businesses. he budges but still cant even give me anything close to the majestic price. Does anyone have experience with this, I mean with the Honda part number not being on an invoice and getting something not honda OEM but from a honda dealer. I can see how someone could easily rip you off selling you a knockoff part invoiced on honda stationary w/out the honda number. or it is majestic???

Majestic sells only 100% authentic parts. It's 6 miles from my house, and I've dealt with them a million times. They are 100% legit I don't know how they are so much cheaper than all the other dealers. They are a very good dealership, and offer a lot of things other Honda dealers don't dream of offering. How ever for what ever reason the prices for Majestic online, and Phone orders differ from if you were to walk into the dealership.

I had a charcoal canister replaced at Majestic last weekend, and it was cheaper for me to order the parts online and bring them in with me than for them to get the part for me. Doesn't make much sense but, ordering online was $30 cheaper.

it depends on the size of the dealership..  sometimes they aren't willing to price match.

you could try hondaparts.com.  it can come close to the price majestic has, order it through that website and have it shipped to your local dealer.

hondaparts.com is Honda's eStore..

ive dealt with majestic and bkhonda alot on parts

the stealership will RAPPPPPE YOU EVERYTIME
bk and majestic say $22.99.....dealership wants $48
i just paid $3.33 a piece for the black clips.... guy said that honda pays well over $2 for them at the dealership.....wanted to slap his whole family, called him a liar
the must order these by the hundreds or thousends, highly doubt a box of these costs in the THOUSENDS of dollars, grrrrr dont get me going on dealerships haha

if you argue with them they usually drop the price 25%
this is usually what i go thru everytime im there for something, its much easier to just get shit online and not deal with their shenanigans
he dropped $9 off the price of my oem intake manifold gasket, just took a few minutes of crying to him haha.... they usually just type it in as a workers discount, try that....if he dont budge order online

remember that its not their fault...honda makes those prices, so complain to him but in a civil manor, hes just doing his job and will hook you up if he can

Majestic is 100% OEM parts. I've bought a lot of parts from them as well. I've bought some OEM parts locally and the dealer price-matched the parts when I brought them the online printout.

Last spring I bought new spark plugs and the dealer wanted something like $30 each....I brought them Majestics print out and got them for like $8 each.

Dealerships are a bunch of fucks!

Another reason why I prefer BKHondaParts.com over majestic, they give you real part numbers and every time I call BK I get a real live human being that actually has some knowledge.

I found that Bernardi Honda is cheap on a lot of items also.

I have a Honda stealership about 1.5 miles from my house, but they are such asshats with thier attitudes I refuse to deal with them, little do they know that it cost them about $28K in parts buisness in the last year. Yes I buy that much or more in a year..

I normally order from College Hills Honda as they have no issues shipping to Canada. Great experience with cheaphondaparts (San Francisco Honda) as well - I agree with Paul, always nice to speak with someone over the phone that actually knows something!

Ya I had some problems like that when I bought my 6mt strut bar. I was at my dealership for a oil change and decided I would see if they could match the honda dealership down the road (who happens to be a sponsor on my local forum)...I talk with the parts guy and he is telling me that they sell bad stuff or something and that i'm trying to rip him off...I go on and tell the guy that I am in no way trying to rip him off, just figured I would purchase from them since I was already there and the fact that I was deeply offended he would say something like that to me, seeing as I just purchased 20K+ car from them a month ago...i walked off pissed and sat in the waiting area, about 5 minutes later I was approached by the dealership manager who sincerely apologized for the actions of his employee and offered to match the price of the other dealership

If you haven't allready bought the headlights I can check with my hook-up at Honda Bloomfield. I can usually get Majestic Honda's prices minus the cost of shipping so I usually pay less then from Majesric.

Here's my experience with dealerships and buying from Majestic.  As everyone else has mentioned, Majestic sells genuine Honda parts.  They are about 45 minutes away from where I live, so I don't mind having them ship stuff to save me money.  I have also purchased parts from Bernardi Honda because they are also local to me.  I bought parts from Herb Chambers Honda in Burlington, MA, and the parts guy there was pretty cool when I just asked him to cut me a deal.  When I tried the Herb Chambers Honda in Westborough, MA (down the street from my office), the parts guy refused to price match.  I showed him the print out from Majestic, and he said he couldn't ever match those prices if he wanted to give me a deal.  I asked how Majestic could sell the same exact parts at half the price they are asking.  I was told that Majestic must buy in bulk and that's why they get good deals.  I usually buy my parts from an Acura dealership down the street from me now if I need a part immediately.  The parts guy is pretty good and he cuts me a deal when he can.  When it's a big ticket item, I buy online from Majestic.  Paul brings up a good point though.  When I had to call Majestic about the clutch master cylinder that failed last year to get it replaced, it took me 4-5 phone calls to get through to someone and get it resolved.  Their customer service sucks, but they are replacing the part under warranty.
