Title: Break-in
Post by: clapton924 on February 16, 2010, 03:37:43 PM
Well, I woke up this morning to my neighbor knocking on my door.  He wanted to know if I knew that my window had been busted....

I put my shoes on and came out to this:

Some fuck threw a concrete paver through my window....and yes it ended up in the drivers seat....fucked up my interior. I have no clue how it hit the headliner and tore the visor....shit must have bounced hard.

Filed a police report and called the insurance company.  Its fucking Fat Tuesday here and no one is working today...have to wait until tomorrow to get the window fixed.  Took me 2 hours to vacuum the glass and tape up the window.

Might be time to get a real security system. The strange thing is my landlord's Benz was parked 10 ft away.  I've been told people bust windows like that looking for guns to steal.

Happy Mardi-Gras to me

Well I live here.  I know better than to take the car anywhere near the parade routes....didn't think I would have this happen in front of my house!  I've lived in the same house for almost 3 years...this is the first time I've had any problems. Hope its just a fluke.

Don't think so.

I need some help from you guys. There was some broken black plastic on the passenger seat...I think it broke off of the center armrest/storage console. Can anyone help me figure out what broke?

That sucks!  I hate thieves.. Did they take anything?  Unfortunately alarms are alarms.  People tend to ignore them these days.  It's still good to have, and the best part about it is getting a 2-way system that pages you when the alarm is triggered.  The part that sucks is that if someone is going to throw a rock through your window, they'll still throw the rock.  An alarm won't prevent the damage, but only hope to deter the amateur thief.

figured out what broke...side of the covered top of the arm rest.  It appears the paver hit the side of the arm rest, bounced up, hit the roof, hit the driver side window and landed in the seat.  Fuck the person must have thrown it as hard as they could....it was like a 5lb stone.

Nothing of value in the car.  Only thing in sight was a cd folder on the rear seat.  But no one could have seen into the car at night because my windows are tinted.

Well, I got the estimate for the repairs today.  Insurance is going to pay for everything....its costing them over $900 to fix this crap.

$100 deductible.  They are replacing both driver and passenger windows, re-tinting them, repairing both interior door panels, new center console, new driver side visor, and a interior detail.

This has been such a waste of my time.

That's pretty good for only $100 out of your pocket.  It sucks to go through, but at least it's getting fixed.
