Title: Operation BatGrampsmobile Complete!
Post by: Jeff Likes Bagels on February 15, 2010, 12:42:53 PM
I installed my RSX-S valve cover today! I think I'm one of the few, if not the only, person on ECM who decided to go with an all-black look on the engine. I think it looks pretty nice!

I painted both the valve cover and oil dipstick flat black. I used the engine primer and engine enamel, both by Rustoleum. The next step is to fix the scratches on the spark plug and IM covers, so I'll probably have to repaint those.

The part that took the most amount of time was reconnecting the PCV breather hose or whatever that goes to the intake. On the old valve cover, the port was 1/2", while the RSX-S valve cover had a 3/4" port. So I had to go to a local auto parts store and buy some 3/4" hose and a coupler. Well, when I went to install the stuff, there wasn't enough room, and the hose would kink. After 30 minutes of bullshitting around trying to get it to work, I finally said fuck it, and took out that ugly contraption that hooks up to the intake, and this was the end result:

The car ran fine with no CELs, so I'm pretty certain that it's going to work. I ran out of clamps, so that's why there isn't one on the 3/4" side of the coupler. It's a bitch to get the hose off anyways without any clamps.

Thanks to Jeremy for selling me his RSX-S valve cover!

Looks good Jeff...+1 Z...is there any way to get rid of the Acura emblem and replace it with a honda, or maybe just take it off, and fill the holes?

Thanks. I think I'll paint the STB mounts black sometime like you guys said. As far as the emblem goes, I've been looking around on eBay for a Honda emblem that'll fit. So far though, nothing. Or I could just leave it and be a fake poser of Tim's car. Haha.

I could... I may swap it in real quick to see how it looks. I personally like the RSX cover more because it extends over more. Swapping out the emblem is on my to-do list though.

Hey Z, do you think I should try sanding down the STB mounts before I paint them, or did you just paint away? They feel pretty smooth...

You should do a wire tuck next.  Looks good though.  Too bad you're faking the funk with the hacura emblem.

The only way he'll let you have them is if you put them all over the exterior of your car so that the rest of us can laugh our asses off. :P
