JT, I think Mike was refering to the shorter gears in the 6mt. Kinda the same way us K24 guys feel a major difference swapping from 5MT to 6MT. Skip and Tim would be able to chime in on this better than I can. Title: Re: 7th Gen Accord V6 A/T and M/T Gear Ratios Post by: NVA-AV6 on February 23, 2009, 08:58:53 AM Actually I am having a problem with the J35/J36s, the major tourqe change makes 1st gear completely useless, I am looking to add a high percision indexing table to my mill so that I can make a different set of gears. Everwhere I called to try to get them made wanted insane $$$, in the $2K + range, and I know a place I can send them out to for hardeneing for about $200 setup and $25 each set (1-10 sets).
Title: Re: 7th Gen Accord V6 A/T and M/T Gear Ratios Post by: Mike on February 23, 2009, 09:21:45 AM Can one of you clarify this for me?
I longer gear ratio doesn't stand up to torque as well? I don't understand this principal, and I’d like to be enlightened. Title: Re: 7th Gen Accord V6 A/T and M/T Gear Ratios Post by: NVA-AV6 on February 23, 2009, 09:52:10 AM The gear is soo short that with the additional power (avg 60+ added WTQ that comes in at 2K RPMs vs 3500 RPMs stock) by the time you fully release the clutch you are out of the gear, also the tire break free without trying, so most are actually skipping 1st and pulling out in second with no issues, so 1st gear is basically wasted. To fix this I am looking at making a taller set of final drive gears which will make all of the gears a bit taller.
Title: Re: 7th Gen Accord V6 A/T and M/T Gear Ratios Post by: Mike on February 23, 2009, 10:14:00 AM So to sum it up lower numbers in the gear ratio chart above = taller gears?

I was like, wait a minute, isn't this the J30 forum? ![]() Title: Re: 7th Gen Accord V6 A/T and M/T Gear Ratios Post by: Abailey4 on February 23, 2009, 03:07:44 PM So would the Cls 6speed work with the 3.5's and 3.6's?
Title: Re: 7th Gen Accord V6 A/T and M/T Gear Ratios Post by: NVA-AV6 on February 23, 2009, 04:12:02 PM Yes, you would just have to weld on another post to the larger gear selector arm, the cl-s uses the inner position while the 7th gen shifter assembly uses the outer position. Come to think of it, STheMan on V6P is now running a CL-S tranny, he got a mad good deal on it so while swapping out the engine we replaced his non-lsd 6sp with it.

Title: Re: 7th Gen Accord V6 A/T and M/T Gear Ratios Post by: 3.Slow6MT on August 27, 2012, 09:36:44 AM Paul, any update on a Final drive? I understand why you would want to make the gears a bit longer for the 3.5 (at least 1st gear), but wouldn't it make more sense to do a gear set for the stock 3.0 Accords and 3.2 TL's? There are plenty more of those than J35/6s. I know a few people that would love a 3.73 Final Drive :D And for $225, holy crap I'm in.
