Title: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 01, 2009, 10:17:59 AM Anyone know where this annoying little buzzer is? I want to remove it if it isn't the same one used for lights on. If it is tied in, which inputs would I need to remove to shut the thing off when I use my e-brake? It may sound stupid for my wanting to remove it but its an annoyance I don't care to have.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: NVA-AV6 on December 01, 2009, 10:44:30 AM It is built into the MICU under the dash, a easy way but you will lose indication of E-Brake, is to disconnect the switch attached to the handle under the cup holders.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 01, 2009, 11:14:36 AM I knew there was something else tied to it. Fucking lame. There's gotta be another way around it to avoid losing the brake indicator in the cluster even if I have to desolder something and pull shit apart and cut myself several times in the process.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: NVA-AV6 on December 01, 2009, 12:13:26 PM Nothing I know of, the buzzer is in the MICU and is tied to the processor in it which is then tied to the CAN bus which feeds data to the cluster, to kill one , you kill both since both are signaled from the same line.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 01, 2009, 12:41:14 PM Now that puts a damper on my day. Fuck.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: NVA-AV6 on December 01, 2009, 02:00:17 PM Sorry dude, maybe what you could do is wire a different light and add it to the dash to replace the e-brake warning light. Also disconnectng the ebrake switch from the MICU will NOT affect the cluster lights function as far as fluid level warning indication, just ebrake.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 01, 2009, 02:06:08 PM Oh really? I thought it killed the light all together. Now I'm in a better mood. I think I might come up with the light workaround for the e-brake just so the light is still there just without the annoying beep.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: Mike on December 01, 2009, 02:26:02 PM I don't think my coupe beeps for the e brake is it year, transmission or trim leval specific?
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: Icebox on December 01, 2009, 02:28:32 PM Z, just curious, why do you want to remove the beeping function?
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: b_beau_09 on December 01, 2009, 02:36:14 PM mine has never beeped....? so I have no idea what this thread is about..?
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: Icebox on December 01, 2009, 02:44:11 PM it should if the e-brake is engaged while trying to drive.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 01, 2009, 02:46:53 PM DING DING DING. Dave hit it on the head. I want to remove it because its fucking annoying. Sometimes while slowing down near cops, I'd rather not let them see my brake lights otherwise it sends a nice little red flag. Slowing down with the e-brake ever so slightly doesn't do that.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: Icebox on December 01, 2009, 02:53:14 PM are you an auto?
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: slipkord on December 01, 2009, 02:55:30 PM Im sure that'll screw something up Z, esp at hwy speeds. Why not splice some wires, run a switch, flip it so it turns your brake lights off, hit the brakes and no lighty lighty and your good. Not like I've done this before, but I know it works.
*edit* Yeah David, Z has a manual....why not just throw it down a gear or two, better deceleration than the e-brake!! ![]() Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: b_beau_09 on December 01, 2009, 03:16:16 PM I know what it is. I'm telling you it'd never gone off in my coupe.. I'm auto. i do exactly what Z was describing, use it to slow down slightly at night when I see a cop just in case I'm over the speed limit by a few.. but there's never been any beeping or tone.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: slipkord on December 01, 2009, 03:18:36 PM I know what you mean Beau, my coupe doesnt make any noise but my sedan does. Think it's only in sedans.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: v6sicksspeed on December 01, 2009, 04:15:50 PM never heard this alarm before but then again i definitely prefer a downshift over a highway e-brake. no offence Z but this kinda sounds silly if you're using it that much to allude the highway cops for it to be a nuisance.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 01, 2009, 07:49:38 PM Its not the highway cops that bother me. The limit is 55 but they don't bother you unless you're over 75. Weird, I know. Its the one main road coming down to my house where there's plenty of little nooks they can hide in. I don't do it often at all, its just when I do that it annoys me.
And Jeremy, that's way more than I want to do. I'm already going to hack enough when I throw a set of HIDs into my reverse lights for those pesky tailgaters and asshats that don't turn off their high beams. ![]() Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: ikethegreat on December 02, 2009, 08:24:57 AM Quote from: "b_beau_09" I know what it is. I do the same thing in my Sedan and I've never heard a beeping. I never let the button go while doing it, so maybe that's the difference? Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 02, 2009, 08:37:51 AM I do the same. I never let go of the button either but the fucking thing beeps at me when I do it. Could it be an 05 sedan thing? I don't know.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: Jeff Likes Bagels on December 02, 2009, 09:07:07 AM Mine beeps too. Maybe you're right, Z.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 02, 2009, 09:12:05 AM That'd be a first.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: Paulius005 on December 02, 2009, 11:30:11 AM Mine beeps if you lift up the handbrake while moving.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 02, 2009, 12:54:20 PM Might be a feature Honda started implementing in the 05 model year. I still want to remove it though.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: thisaznboi88 on December 02, 2009, 06:29:23 PM my 04 accord does that. I think it comes standard. Even my 06 does that but then I stall if I have ebrake on. lol
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: Mike on December 02, 2009, 06:37:01 PM My 03 does not I just tried it. Maybe to get the result you want you should research swapping some parts.
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 02, 2009, 07:17:38 PM Question is, what parts? And would they be compatible?
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: Mike on December 02, 2009, 07:59:44 PM Honda's are like lego's anything can be done
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: CrackerTeg on December 02, 2009, 08:01:43 PM This is true. Like Skippy said once, "Don't like the engine you have? Pull it out and throw in another one."
Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: Paulius005 on December 03, 2009, 02:08:06 AM Unless you have a k24a8 then your royally screwed when it comes to KPro :D.
Anyways. I'm still not sure why your going to this much trouble to get rid of that, I think it's a useful feature if someone else drives your car and they forget to put down the ebrake. But I hope you find the solution your looking for. Hopefully you can just swap to an 03 part of some sort or just yank it out. Not entirely true, then you just rip out the ECU ,engine wire harness and cluster and replace them with RSX-S parts:P Title: Re: Emergency brake buzzer Post by: timot_one on December 03, 2009, 08:18:32 AM I don't have that buzzing feature in my car. I guess it wasn't available on the 03's. Either way, it seems like a awful lot of work for such a small result. I would downshift to slow down on the freeway, but my exhaust gives that away very quickly. A sure fire method to not get pulled over for speeding is to go the speed limit.

I don't understand this 55 shit that NY has. Most people don't follow it. Hell, some of the damn roads out here don't even have speed limit signs posted so I really have no fucking clue as to what the limit actually is. Yes its a lot of work but I'm a stubborn bastard. Once something gets into my head, I usually see it through. I find the beeping annoying and want it gone. This is the first car I've owned that beeps at you if you have the e-brake slightly engaged. Maybe Honda put it there because we as a people have inherently gotten stupider and they had to add that feature to remind people to put their e-brake down. Sorry, went on a rant there.
