Title: nu shooz - i can't wait
Post by: recca on November 18, 2009, 12:59:22 PM
installing the new rims this evening.  i'm worried the fit is going to suck though.  does anyone else get that nervous feeling before installing their new rims?  actually, i think the fit will be ok, its the drop that won't be enough.

Well here are some pics.  Car's dirty and these aren't great pics.

What are the wheel specs?  And how much of a drop?  Sedan or coupe?

07 coupe.  Neuspeed supercup sport at the lowest perch.  According to neuspeed should be 2.25" F 2" R.  wheels RPF1 17x9 +45.  tires 255 / 40.  According to wheel tire calc, 255/40 is .5" smaller than the stock 215/50 i have on now.  more concerned that the .5" of wheel gap is gonna be fugly.

Looks good. Although a 45 would have filled in the fender gap a bit more. It should look fine.

I was thinking that too, but when i saw the 255 40's on s2k's i fell in love.

You should be able to pull it off since you have a coupe.  If it were a sedan, they wheels would be sticking out and rubbing like a fat chick's thighs.  If you're worried about wheel gap, consider a coilover set up so you have adjustability.

looks real good. i would have gone with a bigger rim so i would not have so much tire.... by the way i could not even tell that the car was dirty if you hadnt told us about it. That what i love about the satin silver color.

Not a fan of those rims at all.  What kind are they?  I think the oems looked better.

They're Enkei RPF1's.  15.9lbs each in 17.  With tires I'm looking at 40.9lbs per wheel/tire.  I wanted the 18's but they only come in a +35 on the 9" width.  The narrower widths have a different face which I don't like as much.  I know this sounds dumb, but the car looks much better in person.  The stance looks pretty aggressive cause of the width.  I wish I didn't have the front tire poke but I didn't wanna run staggered.  I'll post better pics after the holidays.  Gotta flight to catch on Sunday.

with RPF1 it's more function > form.

wheels are very light for a cast wheel.

Its all about function over form. I love these wheels!

Thanks man.  I have to say that the 17x9 +45 is a nice fit, but I'm really thinking hard about going to 18x9's.

FWIW - Hankook V12's are really nice tires.  Think they are especially good for CM's.  Sporty and good looking but quiet and comfortable.  Maybe not the top end in performance but have a ton of fun factor.  Also pretty light so they work well with the rpf1's.  Highly recommended.

I'll keep that in mind for whenever I upgrade my wheels. Except in my case, I'm going with flat black to keep the current look.

Thanks for posting these wheels recca!  There was a guy near my house selling these exact wheels (BNIB 17x9et45) from his S2000, no tires.  I was very tempted to buy them and stretch the stock 215/50/17 on them (my tires are pretty new).  I have a sedan, so a wide tire is tough.  I really like these wheels, but was having a hard time finding actual pics on a gen7.  I had to concede to this full blown thread:  http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/wheel-ti ... rpf1s.html (http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/wheel-tire-upgrades/70661-enkei-rpf1s.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).  Light weight and sporty.  Have fun!!

yeah i've seen that thread too.  i got most of my inspiration from the s2k guys though.  17x9's looks really nice on those cars.  I'm seriously considering getting the 18x9's but i just got these...
