today finally had enough time to start winter prep.
washed the car first, was filthy, clayed it and went over with yellow uber pad and 203 and sealed it with 845 to start. Thursday or Friday will do 476 and then 915 couple days later

Misha, I just notice a nick (prob from a rock) in my passenger side fender and I am pissed!  what do you recommend doing on this, plus I want to learn about proper care and techniques for the paint/clearcoat, etc...

i would get touchup paint and carefully fill it in.

I'm going to prep mine for this winter too.

I'm going to wash it, bought Meguiers clay kit, and am debating on what wax or sealant to go with.

good and inexpensive sealant is Collonite 845 sealing wax, you can apply couple coats of that and you good. if you want wax, try their 915 wax, haven't tried it but mine is coming today so i should have it Friday. i heard a lot of good things about it. plus they are very durable. should last about 4-6 month so its good for winter  http://www.collinite.com/ (http://www.collinite.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

another good wax i would recommend is Meguiars mirror glaze #16, i think its discontinued but im sure you can find it on weekends. i put it on and tried to clean it off yesterday with dish detergent and it didn't come off, either its very durable or my detergent is not strong enough

No one near me sells this stuff. GRRR!

Off to look for Meguiar's or this stuff in the next week or two. Want to get this done next weekend.


EDIT: Read that #16 is when the paint is perfectly repaired for wax and must be applied lightly in order to make it come off LOL.

Bought some 845 stuff off eBay since there are no places near me that sell the stuff. What would be the best way to apply this stuff?

^^just regular applicator pad for wax.do section at a time. its pretty easy to apply and remove, was very easy with ultra plus microfiber towel. but after that i would wash the car again to remove leftovers. gona do it friday and aply 476, then 915 on weekend

Steve, im using PC right now but gona be switching to rotary couse of amount of work im starting to do, i need something that will cut/correct paint faster

3 coats should be good. do it 24 hours apart (it has to have time to cure and let all gases or solvents out)
then i would put some kinda wax on for more shine and protection.

yeah #16 is good. i have it, used and seems to be easy application and removal, we gona see about durability still but ppl say about 2 month or so. just wait 24 between each layer.

Asim, waxing will help but most waxes will not last through the winter, id recommend getting 845, sealing paint first and then put coat of wax on it after 24 hours

nahh. 2 coats of 845 and 1 of megz will do just fine. i have 2 on mine now and just gona use one of my waxes, maybe even gona do megs 16

yes. there is "hole" about 2' deep by 3' by about 8' between those ramps. makes oil change or other stuff a lot easier. i can sit comfortable and do oil change. have to take pic of that. my dad did it when we put cement on driveway

clay is to get all shit off the car that you cant see and that gets in the way of smooth reflection and smooth feel.
with wax you just covering all the shit thats on the car. id sugest you go out and buy meguiars clay bar kit and try it. you will be surprised how much stuff is on car that should not be there

u deff need to use it before wax
its like putting cologne on when you dirty and smell if you know what i mean, you just covering up whats there, clay bar for car is like soap for your body

well. had to use quick detailer today to wipe off some water marks. looks like its easier to do where petes 53 and p21s wax was applied comparing to megs #16. ill test it again but if thats the case then #16 will have to go
