Title: Thought this was interesting...
Post by: mitchigan on October 27, 2009, 09:31:33 PM
This is for those of us who only want a drop via only springs i.e. the Eibach pro-kit. I'm sure most of you guys have seen it before. I ran across it being curious as to see if such a video comparison existed out there, and what do you know?.... It's actually of a 7.5G Accord.

Braking

Someone should save these videos if the uploader were to ever take them down. This is good stuff.

Interesting. Good thing I'm dropped on coils with stock shocks then. Imagine the difference with upgraded shocks.

Wow. That's pretty good for the price. I'm thinking of getting dropped on springs for now, but we'll see. Going to be bouncing up and down in NYC lol.

I actually first saw this comparison in a magazine with pics of the Accord. That's when I searched for the videos. Good stuff

Is it bad to put aftermarket lowering springs on a stock shocks? i read somewhere it puts load of pressure on other parts of the car.

Yes and no. Depending on the drop you're trying to achieve. Upgrading your shocks is always a good thing. I've seen people get good results with a shock upgrade when using stock springs. I'm not big on goig through all that trouble for stock height but that's me. I've been running my S techs for about a year/ 30k miles on stock shocks and haven't experienced any problems. I do plan on upgrading in the future though.

Anyway, I'm kind of getting off topic. Many people have run drop springs with stock shocks and have been satisfied with the results. It all just depends how aggressive a drop you want. There's more to it than that but I don't feel like typing it all from my phone.

Same in what way? Drop? Spring rate?

Generally. There are subtle differences but you would never notice them. Most of those drop springs are designed to be used on stock shocks.

I have the eibach pro-kit and tokiko blue shocks. Car was WAY too bouncy on stock shocks with pro-kit...the tokikos are SO much better...much stiffer than stock. For example, there is a highway ramp here with a big dip in it...on stock shocks the car would massively drop going over it....with tokikos the car barely drops at all.

Amazing results on the fuel mileage. I tend to believe it myself because I know that I'm consistently getting about 4mpg better economy compared to when I first bought the car with stock suspension. I just never considered it was due to the car being lower and more aerodynamic. I never put 2 and 2 together. I hope it is true though, because that would be a great reason to lower a car!
