Title: Angel Eyes Help Post by: LvaC03NyC on September 10, 2009, 04:48:33 PM I recently bought a pair of headlights with angel eyes and i wanted to change the angel eyes that it came with to the ones featured on ddm tuning. I am wondering if anyone knows any websites that offer replacement angel eyes....
Here are the lights that i bought http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 0348994227 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=330348994227) And here are the angel eyes that i would like to have http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=pr ... &parent=84 (http://www.ddmtuning.com/index.php?p=product&id=99&parent=84) Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: AV6NHBP6SPD on September 15, 2009, 10:29:56 AM dont think your angel eyes are big enough to replace with this.
bmw lights are pretty big and your angel eyes are pretty small so dont think it will work Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: LvaC03NyC on September 16, 2009, 01:48:44 PM any suggestions on where i can get replacements??
Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: NWINNIE34 on September 16, 2009, 01:54:47 PM i debated the same thing man... if theres a will theres a way
you may need to modify the lights you have now to get them to work...but its possible my halos arent bright at all....and like 25% of one of them is dark Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: LvaC03NyC on September 16, 2009, 02:02:43 PM I definetely have the will to do it. I called DDM tuning to see if their LED replacements would work but the dude told me they wont. Im opening them up tonight to get a measurement of the diameter and then i guess ill have to do some google'ing to try and find a site that sells replacements.

Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: timot_one on September 16, 2009, 05:04:49 PM I'd recommend that you toss the halo headlights all together. They just seem so whack on every car that's NOT a bimmer. Altezza tail lights belong on the Toyota Altezza and halos headlights belong on bimmers.
Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: LvaC03NyC on September 16, 2009, 07:11:57 PM idk i personally like the look of them...i seen them on an impala just the other day and to my surprise they looked hot...
Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: k24low20z on September 16, 2009, 08:38:39 PM leave that to the ricers.... it does not look good in our cars..

There is so much more you can do to the oem headlamps instead of replacing them with halos. Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: NWINNIE34 on September 17, 2009, 01:09:47 PM so maybe i'll just take out my halos so i dont get made fun of haha.... i still get lots of compliments tho.... but yeah to each his own....stay with this forum man, you'll learn alot
hey LvaC03NyC and Misha do you think its possible to just yank the halo right out? debated this for a while now... it looks like it would but i have never opened them up debating painting the housing either black or desert mist metallic to match the car lemme kno how it looks in there Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: timot_one on September 17, 2009, 10:58:06 PM The halos are held in by screws, and they have LEDs at the bottom to illuminate them. You can definitely remove them, but you may have a hard time finding CCFL's the exact same diameter and then attaching them. I just don't think it's worth the trouble for those housings. Truth be told, those headlights are junk. Not because of they way they look, but because of the poor quality materials and build. Spend your time and money on a better set of headlights if you really want to put halos in them.
Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: LvaC03NyC on October 05, 2009, 10:15:20 PM Sorry took so long to respond but what does it matter what the guys on other forums have to say about what I do...Last i recall forums were for constructive criticism but I guess that doesnt apply to everyone. Anyway to everyone who pm'ed asking about progress I finished the install today and will be posting pics soon.
Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: timot_one on October 05, 2009, 10:48:09 PM I guess the fact that I pointed out that those headlights are poorly designed and made with sub par materials doesn't count, huh? I was giving constructive criticism, you just didn't like the fact that people gave you negative feedback. I suggested other forums because they may be more accepting of your "style". I have no problem in pointing out that some modifications are just used to draw attention instead of look good. The show car scene ruins the way most cars look because they promote the mentality of "more shit on my car means that it looks better". Those cars aren't judged by style and taste, they're judged by how much crap someone piles on to their car. That is not the mentality I promote here. Not every mod is going to be functional or useful, but if it's useless, it should at least be done in good taste. I will always continue to say that halos belong on bimmers, and people that put halos on anything that's not a BMW is just a wannabe.
Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: LvaC03NyC on October 08, 2009, 11:09:44 PM I have no problem with negative feedback...not everyone likes the same things. I didn't join the forum to be accepted...I joined to learn. Contrary to what you might believe halos come stock on other cars other than BMW's because of their popularity with consumers. I got many comments on how good they look already and have never thought of myself as being someone who was trying to turn my daily driver into a show car. I thought the whole point of doing shit to your car was to get attention but maybe that's just me. From what i see people put a lot of time and effort into making their cars into show cars and granted some are outrageous, but most are very beautifully constructed and style and taste are two of the most important things that go into their owners decisions. Maybe you should be more considerate to people in your forum who don't necessarily have the same style you do but definitely share the same passion if not more for their car. Their are a lot of people on THIS forum who have halos or want halos judging by the PM's so before you start calling people wannabes you might want to think about others on the site. Its all good though...ill take your advice...
Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: CrackerTeg on October 08, 2009, 11:41:53 PM Here's a tip regarding your halos. Take a look around in the forums at hidplanet. There's a plethora of information regarding anything to do with lights. As for the criticism you're getting, you should've expected it. Don't take it to heart. But when you're the only guy on here rocking lambo doors that everyone else including Lamborghini has removed, the flaming was inevitable.
Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: timot_one on October 09, 2009, 12:09:00 AM Name one car that comes with halos in OEM headlights that's not a BMW. This site was started for people to learn about performance upgrades specific to the CM chassis. Halos are definitely not my style and most people here would shy away from them. I recommended a different forum because you'd probably get the answer that you're looking for.
Title: Re: Angel Eyes Help Post by: rafaeljose73 on October 11, 2009, 08:59:45 AM If i ever do a headlight upgrade it will be the Inspire. Also as Tim mentioned, Halo Headlights are a waste of money. Not only they have poor output but when the halo light got burn, you are stuck with them unless you switch back to originals. Having said that, good luck with your quest but I concur with the others: Halos are not for Hondas! :)
Regarding the other cars with the "Halos", I think he refers to the Audi S4 (?) where it got a LED trim below the headlamps. |
