Post by: Blackhawk on August 13, 2009, 01:55:31 PM
Alright guys, I am considering doing either a street setup or an off-road setup for my truck. Please let me know what would look better…

first instinct: offroad setup!  buuuuuut what kind of truck is it?  what do you use it for?

2000 Mercury Mountaineer V8 With LSD rear end. I bought it to daily drive since I loved how my old 1999 Ford Explorer drove, but I will also use it for hitting up the trails, take the mountain bikes out, and take the off-road routs to the shooting range and fishing holes.

off road would be nice.... its gonna ride and sound like shit from road noise...
street would look better...

all up to how often  you take that beast off road...
i like the look of offroad.... just dont get rediculous knobby tires and you should be fine

off road definitely....now your gonna have me searching for a good setup for you.....i do like those rims  though...like the previous comment if you don't get to "knobby" of a tire it shouldn't be that bad

Thanks guys, yeah I found the following tire that is rated much better than the BFG, less knobby, and much more smooth and quiet. Gonna consider it:
255/70/16 Hankook Dynapro ATM

My old man had a Mountaineer just like JT's and there was definitely nothing luxury about it. Go offroad with it. Make that prissy looking SUV look like it has a pair.

Because of this your should buy Pink wheels and just get some of those "Truck Nuts", but back on topic go big or go home get the off road set up and get the bitch in the mud.

yea, just stay away from the superswampers and you'll be fine with road noise.  +1 on the balls for your trailer hitch.

Oh man, I hate when I'm driving down the road and I hear something passing by me like.....

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Only to see some lifted up truck with tires taller than my car, buzzing like a bee down the road on its knobby ass offroad tires...

If you do the offroad setup, just make sure you don't get anything to ridiculous...I'm sure you don't want to buzz on the street

Superswampers sound like marbles being dumped down a flight of stairs.
