Title: can you use tuner lugs with oem?
Post by: thisaznboi88 on August 11, 2009, 08:57:00 PM
I been researching around and read that you can't use tuner lugs with OEM rims. Is this correct? It has something to do with the lugs are tapered or something. I am not sure what that means. I want to put 4 tuners lugs and 1 oem lugs lock to help reduces the weight. But if it is going to cause any problems I will just keep the the oem lugs because I want to die if the rims fall off or w/e

You really aren't suppose to, but you can. The only problem is that the conical lugs nut will partially damage the rims. I have used my Rays Engineering lug nuts on my TL Type S rims, and the lug holes are still in good shape. Well, I swap rims during season change. So, the Rays lugs nuts aren't on there for long.

My says acorn on the cover. So I was thinking since the oem are acorn it should work right? Also I want to put 4 light weight one on and keep the oem lock for just incase. I am scared that will throw the wheel spin off balance.

Here is the thing, Honda lug nuts are a round butt style lug nut. It techincally is not an "acorn" style lug nut. Something that light shouldn't throw off wheel spin balance.
