Title: I'm done... Post by: another_person on June 02, 2009, 01:10:15 AM So I think I've decided that I'm done. No more modding or anything to any of our cars or breaking any laws...the first part more then the second...
lessons learned and aftermath at the end Story: Sunday 5:55pm - I head home from my girlfriends house, normally a 20 minute freeway drive. I drive for about 15 minutes and I'm about 6-8 miles away from home. I see a wide open stretch of 4 lane freeway...its sunny out and I have my shades on and the music bumpin' I speed up to 101(according to the state trooper radar or laser) 6:10pm - Red and Blue lights...Trooper walks to the door and shouts "step out of the vehicle and place your hands on the roof, spread your legs. You're under arrest for wreckless driving"(awesome...NOT) He puts me in the car and precedes to fill out a vehicle impound form, and runs my plates. 6:20pm - Plates come back and apparently someone in the past 2 months has said that I had red and blue flashing lights...(I'm not stupid enough to put blue flashing lights on the outside of my car...) 2 more troopers show up to check out the car and they find the direction arrow as my tail light. They all try and see how legal it is, but apparently no one knows. They then start to push every single switch they can in my car and they find the air horn, and siren...(F@$K!!! ok, flashing red, not as bad, siren=BAD. To be 100% honest though, I may lie about a lot, but I've NEVER used the siren on the street. I've used the air horn function, but nothing else) so anyways, the troopers still don't know what to make of it because the only reports are of flashing red and blue lights. 6:40pm - tow truck shows up and troopers try and take pictures of the directional arrow in action. They say they can't get a good picture, but they still try anyways. This whole time I'm not even sure if they get any other buttons or find anything else, but one trooper said she was sure to get the dark window tint (that sucks too by the way) 7:00pm - we pull out and my car goes to the state patrol impound lot as evidence(I didn't know it was evidence until after I called and tried to figure stuff out this morning) My poor accord was headed to an impound lot where it would probably have to be parked outside until who knows when, and I was headed to the county jail... 8:00pm - By this time, I'm processed and placed in a holding room where I can make phone calls. They tell me that the reception desk closes at 9:30, so if I was going to get bail out, it would have to be by then. My best friend gets the call and he heads out. He picks up one of our other friends to go with him, and they have to race against the clock to get me bailed out before the office closes. During this time I have to talk with some jail person that was to determine if I could be released on my own personal accord since I had never had any record and stuff like that. 9:15pm - I am approved for release having to agree to appear in court, and the "release process" starts (its suppose to take 2-6 hours!!! wtf!, just open a door!!) My friends apparently got there around the same time too and they were told I would be release soon too, so all was looking good :) ... NO... all was not good. They moved me to this "cell" that was the size of a very large room and had 20 bunks in there for inmates. Of the other 19 inmates in there, 9 were there because of wreckless driving (hella bad day for drivers) and the rest were in there for whatever reasons (I really didn't want to make eye contact or ask too many questions) 10:00pm - bunk check and the guards come in and say they have my paper work and I'm about to get released. 10:15pm - I get SCREWED by a medical emergency in out of the other cells in the block and everything basically gets locked down for the next HOUR!!! OMG...WTF!!! 11:15pm - Lights out and new inmates are coming in, I still stuck in there!! 12:00am - I'm FINALLY called to the door to get moved to the release area 1:00am - I get picked up by my sister....WOW, the prison system SUCKS!!! So do troopers and people that TAIL-GATE people and are surprised when they get lights flashed back in their face! What I learned: -I am not going to put anymore SHO-ME products on any vehicle. I am going to remove all the switches for my current stuff when I get my car back (hopfully I can do this) I may potentially do a led retro, but no more crazy stuff. I might just buy so premade ones. -No more 80+ speeds...I'm realistic, I know there is no way I can stay at 60, so 70ish is still realistic. -Jail really isn't that bad. I mean it could have been much worst, but we had TV, and the other people in the cell were actually pretty funny. The system and whatever processes really do suck. Also, ILLEGAL stuff, hard to argue with cops about, you can't talk loop holes with them, and you just look like an asshole and they just hate you more. -Lawyers=good, Expensive, but good Funny events of the evening: 1. My cousin was driving on the same freeway with my 4 year old niece and swares it was my car, and my niece insisted it wasn't me...he called me while I was in the trooper car and I didn't answer, He figured it out. He got one of his other brothers to check it out, and by the time he got to the same spot, my car and myself were already gone. They probably missed me by like a minute or so. 2. The same cousin told me to be carful when I left work on friday... 3. actually, the list stops with 2, I thought there would be something else funny, but no. I feel more thug now that I did some time in the joint though...That sentense just made me look hella getto...Oh, the other guys at work were like wow, we finally get to hang out with someone that did time too... Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: dizzle on June 02, 2009, 01:51:22 AM thats a bummer. sounded like it was too good to be true in the beginning when you saw that open stretch of road. nothing against cops cause theyre doing their jobs but you should be careful around the last 2 weeks of the month, kinda like they gotta make their quota.
this past friday, me and a buddy were heading back into town from the motorsports park. we have to go through a small mini town area and its like 40mph. we get onto the on-ramp and theres an unmarked car waiting. we keep our cool and we get on the freeway, right before a couple exits get into the next town, 5 cop cars all parked on the shoulder busting speeders. i guess its a lesson learned that one thing can lead downhill real fast. Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: cna on June 02, 2009, 03:50:36 AM man i got a wreckless driving ticket for supposly having the cops chase me down at "high speeds" which was total bull but never got locked up for it just given a fine with no points but thats crazy how they process you wow
Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: ibcnunv on June 02, 2009, 05:21:15 AM Boy you're lucky you don't live in manhattan because they would have kept you for 3 days at least. I did 71 hours for a open beer!!! However, after a long ass wait to be seen in court I was released with out a charge... WTF? But I was happy because I still have no record.
Dude, you have items in your car that will get you hit with a bad charge or jail time. So I wish you luck in court dude. Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: CrazyCreashunz on June 02, 2009, 07:24:04 AM WOW, damn bro sorry to hear. Troppers out there don't play. Which state did this happen...?
Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: Icebox on June 02, 2009, 07:28:32 AM state troopers always are gonna try to get you for everything they can. i got a ticket for my exhaust an hour after i got it installed. but back on topic, sorry to hear about your misfortune.

I argued that years back and was told to look it up. I did and felt like an ass. Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: AV6NHBP6SPD on June 02, 2009, 08:17:29 AM but pushing all switches and shit. i dont think they should be able to do that since its for show, maybe another kill switch would help probably, we installed switch for my friends lights and strobes yesterday and told him to get kill switch but he didnt want it. but he can get away with it since he is firefighter
Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: Mike on June 02, 2009, 08:34:01 AM The best advice is just to keep it legal. Use this experience as a reason to smarten up!
Reckless driving and illegal modifications ruin this hobby for the rest of us. All import enthusiast get lumped into this same group and with things like this going on we will never break our stereo type Title: Re: I'm done... I'd rather just save the trouble of always having the possibility to be able to get a ticket or something for having something illegal on my car.Sorry to hear that your day went bad. So, did you friends pick up your car at the pound or something? I hope nothing happens to it while over there. Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: NWINNIE34 on June 02, 2009, 09:53:03 AM yeah im just too scared.... when it comes down to it... a few random mods to your car could end up costing you triple in the long run
i took off front tints when i moved to new jersey... installed my front license plate bracket even though i despise the front plate look its just a reason to pull you over... and depending who you drive by and what you look like it just makes it easy to look suspicious sorry about yur situation man... makes me think twice about those natural feelings to wanna open her up and rip down an empty highway Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: another_person on June 02, 2009, 09:56:48 AM This happened in washington state. Legally though, according to all the people that I have talked to so far, they had no reason to have my car impounded, especially with out giving me more specifics. As for all the illegal stuff, they did have a right to investigate because they already arrested me and had probable cause, but they don't have definate proof that I was driving when the report came in. one of the lawyers I talked to said it might be a stretch for the charge. I wish my car was guarenteed a release after 3 days, but right now, they won't tell me anything. Wreckless driving is bad, but I just reached that speed when I was stoped. True I probably would have maintained or gone a little faster, so I guess it might have been good he stopped me, but I wish clocked me at 99 instead of 101. Upside is no jail time for anything according to everyone I have talked to, downside is a wreckless driving charge means a suspended license for up to 30 days, sr22 insurance, and a fine. For the lights/sirens, it seems like its just a huge fine, and the stuff getting taken away, but for some reason, its iffy as to charges and actual violations.
Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: Latin2nr on June 02, 2009, 10:02:34 AM Fucked up man, trooprers sometimes ain't got nothing better else to do but to fuck with people, in your case, 100+, they were waiting for you. Ain't nothing good about getting locked up but you came out ahead, by luck, here in Brooklyn, different story.
Don't let this shit hold you back, keep your toys, shit you paid for them, just don't draw any unwanted attention while driving, everything else should be cool since this is your first offense, I hope. Good luck. Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: ibcnunv on June 02, 2009, 10:29:52 AM Well the best of luck in this case man because getting the license suspended would not be cool at all. See if the state will take a plea and settle for fining you. Shit man, at 101 that’s not going to fly but hey it never hurts to try… Is the car paid for in full? If not keep your payments up and current because the finance company will also defend the car and its release.
Again, in NYC you would have been shot 52 times… LOL Title: Re: I'm done... I will not give them an excuse, my brother got jailed last year for asking "why am I getting pulled over for" and they pulled him from the car and had like 5 officers take him down to the ground and in the end said he was resisting arrest. WTF!!!!! by asking a question... some of these rookie cops even cops that have experience and have been on the force for years do their job in fear of getting into something life threating, especially when they pull over a hooked a ride. Anyways im babbling on lolzzz

Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: 05AccordV6 on June 02, 2009, 12:48:27 PM Not to say that I think you desrved to be jailed that night, but you kind of had it coming. Driving 100+ mph, having strobing lights, and driving wrecklessly are all reasons why. Cops get angry at stuff like this because they are the ones who have to clean up the smashed up cars, bodies, etc, if and when you crash. They are usually fairly cool as long as your respectful, did you get loud or arguementative with the police, did you attempt to avoid or run from them? I mean all in all it should get dropped down to a bunch of heavy fines and court/lawyer fees, which could end up costing $3,000+. Lesson learned here, I would have more sympathy if you weren't driving 100+ on a public road.
Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: wtcii on June 02, 2009, 01:01:58 PM I was passing someone on the highway inorder to get into the lane to take my exit, I was going to fast to begin with, and I got a ticket for 97. The trooper was cracking jokes and shit. I didnt find it that funny. I got a 225 dollar ticket and got it taken away by paying 40 to go to defensive driving school. See if your state has anything like that. Here, they jus completely take it of your record if you go to the school, andyou lose your liscense for a week.

I hope you can get some of the charges reduced, and also hope that you learn from this experience.

True Mike not all are bad cops, I got family and friends that are in law enforcement and I know first hand the deal, but you got some cops out here that think that by carrying a gun gives them the right to pull you over for no good reason whatsoever, I understand the macho man or wonder women ego thing, the superiority trip, but sometimes they take it to a whole different level, that's why sometimes tragic things happen which by other circumstances would've never occured, that's why the ones that know I give them this advice, "Do it by the book, don't throw your career away, it's not worth it" Title: Re: I'm done... Ended up with a 3 month suspension of my license but that car wasn't modded ![]() Nevermind, that was a CARELESS driving ticket...wreckless driving is much worse i guess Title: Re: I'm done... Most speed limits in MI are 70 mph on the highway, and I'm very comfortable with that. Back to OP, sorry to hear you went to jail, hope everything works out for the best. Title: Re: I'm done... ![]() I got my car back!!!! The detective that was investigating it said he has been away from the office, so he didn't really have a chance to go over the file, but he said he skimmed it and then after calling the trooper that arrested me, he released the car. I only had to pay for the towing fee too, which was 200, but luckly there was no impound fee :) I picked up the car yesterday and discovered it has been parked next to the street and under a tree for the past 2 weeks.... at least there was nothing searched or anything though. I feel hella lucky :) Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: ROLO on June 17, 2009, 06:31:22 PM DAM What a bad trip man...Any photos of the mods your getting rid of?

Title: Re: I'm done... Post by: another_person on June 18, 2009, 10:57:05 AM heres a quick video...the tails are actually a little different now, but you get the idea....The upper part is the "arrow" so it can flash right to left or vise versa and it can also sweep. The turns are on the same flasher as the reverses now, so it flashes like a cop's tail lights...
